ELECTRONIC ARTS SIGNS EXCLUSIVE LICENSING AGREEMENT WITH UEFA

EA SPORTS to produce official licensed videogame for UEFA EURO 2004TM

Chertsey, UK. – February 6th, 2004 – Electronic Arts (Nasdaq:ERTS) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced today they have signed an agreement for EA to develop, publish and distribute the official videogame of UEFA EURO 2004TM under the EA SPORTS brand which will be an official interactive entertainment experience of the EURO 2004TM tournament. The EA SPORTS UEFA EURO 2004TM officially licensed game will be developed and published by EA this summer to coincide with the finals of the UEFA EURO 2004TM tournament in Portugal.

"We are excited to extend UEFA's mission of promoting European football at every level of the game through our EA SPORTS simulation of the EURO 2004TM final tournament event," said Jan Bolz, Vice President, Sales and Marketing for EA Europe. "Combining EA's global expertise in football videogames with UEFA's passionate European fan base will give football fans endless opportunity to relive the excitement and drama of EURO 2004."

In EURO 2004TM mode players can play as any of the 51 European nations. Players can arrange and play friendly matches against other nations or play through the tournament going from qualifying, to playoffs and into the finals. In addition to tracking injuries and suspensions, a new dynamic morale system will track players' morale, which will fluctuate based on individual and team performances and affect player abilities on the field.

The official UEFA EURO 2004TM videogame is currently under development at EA's Canadian studio, the company's largest, which is world-renowned for creating critically-acclaimed and best selling sports games. The officially licensed EURO 2004TM videogame is scheduled for release to coincide with the EURO 2004TM finals in Portugal this summer.

Hmmm, u will get a **** load of new portuguese stadiums, which will make a lot of ppl happy. Probably with some videos like WC02 so it might not be too bad... but u gotta think about the time frame they are working in, what good will come from this? Probably a preview of fifa2005 if it eventuates that will cost a bit of money. None the less, im up for a change.

So we are looking at about 6 months from now are we? When do the euro finals start? WC02 came out about 3 months before the finals.

i hope they reprogram the gameplay, game speed, advantage rules, weather (please~!!!), sub cinematic, keeper (also please~~!!), brightness, if the game just like FIFA2004, its going to be very very disappointed. this shouldn't call EURO2004 anymore, should be FIFA2004 European International Team Edition

I guess the gameplay will be pretty much the same of FIFA 2004, with some minor "improvements" (if you can call it that) on the gameplay area, and a lot of improvements regarding the graphics.

07-02-2004, 12:19:PM
i don't expect for a player editor for fifa euro 2004, but i really
think that it will be finally included in fifa 2005, with all the
features we are asking for.

About graphics/gameplay, i think that gameplay will be more
improved than graphics area (we (included EA) know that
gameplay is the point which is needed to enhance).

buzzer555

FOR ALL LIKE GRAPHICS, KITS, STADIUMS, ETC.......

YES BUY IT AND AFTER 1 MONTH YOU WILL PUT YOUR GAME IN A BOX.

EA YOU LOVE US A LOT AND FOR OUR MONEY TOO.

I think that is another again a crap game with good stadium, kits, graphics but with a VERY POOR GAMEPLAY.

We will ask again in June 2004, please WAIT, WAIT, before enthusiast you.

Each year it's the same thing, we are as dog who has hungry and they show us the first images and it's the panic,
Oh, oh, it's look wery well!!! etc and finally ?

WAIT, WAIT.

For me i will have EURO 2004 before JUNE, It's PES 3.

I can see the ready made excuses already:

(a) Well, you can't expect the gameplay to have improved, they didn't have much time between FIFA 2004 and this title to improve it.
(b) After FIFA 2005 is again with crappy gameplay - well, they didn't have enough time to work on it after Euro 2004!

I'll bet anybody the gameplay is near identical and basically you'll be forking out another $40 for a single tournament.

Great faces but those bodies are dang awful. They still look like a cross between the Roswell alien and a third degree burns victim!

07-02-2004, 01:55:PM
Excuse me , i'm back again but i think that we put a lot of critics about this thread to show EA that we aren't idiot.

IF AT EACH TIME THAT EA SHOW US NEW IMAGES, COMMENTARY ABOUT EURO 2004,WE ARE ENTHOUSIAT, WE'LL NEVER HAVE A GOOD FIFA GAME .WE MUST UNDERSTAND THAT AT FIRST THEY WANT OUR MONEY, THEY THING THAT THE QUALITY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAT THE GAMEPLAY.

DON'T FORGET, IT'S OUR MONEY, YOU CAN'T BUY ALL GAMES AND YOU MUST DO THE GOOD CHOICE.

For me i put a lot of critics to understand to EA that they must change their gameplay before make a good graphics.

IF THEY DON't CHANGE GAMEPLAY, SO BYE BYE EA AND GOODMORNING KONAMI.

In this case the license is property of UEFA. EA Sports pays to UEFA to recriate the Euro2004. So they could use all kits, players etc. All national FA sign before the competition a contract that gives his image rights to UEFA.

Yeah! The 'fake shot'. Only been available in Konami games since 1998! You go to shoot and then cancel it or push it wide instead of shooting to create more space. Really, all EA need to do is create an effective cancel button where you can pull out of any move right up until a shot or pass has been taken. Still that might be a bit too realistic for them to pull off. $10 says it's a screw up! Let's see if FIFA Euro 2004 can even match the mighty International Superstar Soccer '98 on the N64 and actually make it work!

i think not for two reasons. one is that kazakhstan didn't play in the qualifyings, other is that the game have 51 national teams and with Kazakhstan UEFA have now 52 filliated members. So i think Kazakhstan isn't in the game.
Since we can schedule pre-euro friendlies i think EA should put some teams from other continents like Brazil, USA, Argentina, Cameroon, etc. What do you think of this idea?

Please translete this, if i do it you will don't undestand a s***.

The past Friday 6 of February EA confirmed officially what many already we intuited: the development of a soccer simulator based on the next EuroCup of Portugal. This new sport simulator of EA Sports, far from being a special version of FIFA2004, is being developed by another equipment different from the destined one to the famous soccer saga of Electronic Arts.

Euro2004 is based on the motor and system of game of the FIFA 2004, from which it has divided this new plagued development of new features in the gameplay. Meristation has had the possibility of playing a few parties with one of first alphas that have left the studies of Canada and the impression has been very positive.

Between the most remarkable new features we have new movements like petroleum jellies, you happen to the hollow through stop, Chileans, regates (new regate promising to be the firing is incredible) and new closings. The gameplay and the control have improved being the fastest and electrical parties. Certain aspects have been corrected that the public demanded of previous FIFA 2004 like the shots to door which they were something exaggerated in force and precision.

Euro2004 is not a FIFA 2004 with a pair of details extra since we have commented, for it in addition to the new features in the gameplay are had including new new ways of game to wake up the interest of the fan. Between the ways including it emphasizes the Euro2004 way, where we will take the control from a selection choosing to the players between the 40 best ones of each country and considering multitude of factors like the moral, and the physical state throughout the phase of classification and final phase of the Eurocopa of Portugal.

From Meristation we are impatient to prove one more a newer version, since the expectations generated as a result of this alpha are very positive and we hoped to see that he is able to contribute this new study of EA Sports to the sort of the sport simulators.

IF THEY DON'T BE ABLE TO CHANGE THE CONTROLS, PUT A LOT OF STYLE OF CPU ATTACK, MAKE A SIMILAR GAME AS PES 3, I WON'T PUT MY MONEY IN THEIR GAME.

MY ONLY QUESTION WHAT WILL BE BAT THIS TIME? BECAUSE EACH YEAR THEY' RE 3 POSITIVIVE AND 5 NEGATIVE.

I REPEAT WE WANT A VERY GOOD GAMEPLAY, STOP TO MODIFY THE GRAPHICS, KITS, ETC IT'S NOT IMPORTANT, WHEN YOU SEE PES 3 THE LOOK ISN'T IMPORTANT, IT'S THE GAMEPLAY.

When everybody have played FIFA demo all people says that it was good but after!!!

We must have a good test to see if EURO 2004 is good.
The problem with me it's that i don't believe to EA.

GIVE ME A SOLUTION TO CHANGE THE CONTROLS, i never see in a football game or a real match only body control.

It's just amazing that for every FIFA game over the last 3-4 years people use the "it's alpha" excuse. Each time the game is screwed up - when will you learn that what you see is what you get? If you want to look at exactly what you're getting, you're paying $40 for a game basically that should have been included within FIFA 2004 or at least the ability to custom make your own Euro 2004 tournament.

My comment a few pages back about $hitting in a box, slapping a FIFA sticker on it and selling 5 million copies was supposed to be a joke but the irony is I could probably shift about half of that number for real. One tournament to play costs $40 with a few added features which won't make any difference to the gameplay except for the fake shot thing which should have been included about 6 or 7 years ago!

With EA making all the stadiums in Portugal, that means they should include at least one of them in FIFA 2005 like they did with Yokohama from WC 2002 to FIFA 2003.

I undesrstand very well your position but i can't support each year the problem or evaluate of EA about FIFA.
Since 98 i buy fifa and support their problem, they tell us that fifa 2004 will be ok, fifa 2003 ok but fifa 2004 will be revolution etc etc but i'm not a children, i'm not rich , and today i don't accept their strategy.

I repeat my question and you can't asswer me:
HAVE YOU SEEN ONLY CONTROL IN A FOOTBALL GAME?

If they can't change that, they can't make a good football game.
I'm nothing again EA, i love much FIFA but after play PES 3, it's not possible to play FIFA with tha same vision.

When you say that we should play PES 3, it's not the problem, i'm only the demo but for fifa you do a lot of control body, goals on same actions.

If i compare FIFA TO PES is :
- fifa is a Newcastle and PES REAL MADRID OR MU, you see the difference.

That why actually i can't play FIFA and prefer PES;

My way isn't to whinning in a forum about fifa all day to augment my point to be veterans or master forum.
I have another thing to do, but when you attack FIFA, people don't understand your words, i try to make intelligent critics.

Before i don't like PES because it haven't official licence, but when i play a demo any time, it's different.

Why the market of playstation is n° 1 for pes instead fifa, it's not the hasard.
If each time we said fifa good graphics, kits, stadiums etc, how do you want EA make a good gameplay.
They are superior at konami about graphics etc, why do we want still that each fifa. Since 2003 they must work in the gameplay one only time with a complete gameplay and for fifa 2005 or other work on kits, graphics etc.

When you see fifa 2002 complete and fifa 2003 complete too, and FIFA 2004 BUGGED, you don't understand something.
Don't forget, some of people are father, with wife, credits, house, cars, etc and they can't buy a game all month.
When i was not married, alone, i can buy a game all time but now it's difficult.

I must do a choice and when i see the politic of EA, i don't believe that they think to us when they make their game.

To finish and i haven't reponse:
WHERE ARE THE OTHERS CONTROLS, AND WHERE ARE THE GOOD ACTIONS IN PROMOTIONNALS VIDEOS LIKE TREZEGUET GOAL?

"HAVE YOU SEEN ONLY CONTROL IN A FOOTBALL GAME?"

No, of course. In FIFA 2004 haven't seen it neither.
You can make hole pass, and combine it with OTB if you want.
Or, another option, you can order another player without the
ball in order to make ir sprint to receive your pass.
You can't play with the 11 players simultaneously, that's
impossible.

About the money, FIFA 2004 PC costs 44,95€, and PES3 PC
costs 39,95€. Only 5€ more. You can't afford buying a 45€ game?
I don't know about you, but i buy 3 or 4 games each year,
and i'm not rich. If you can't save that money, then maybe you
have an economic problem.

Now, my brother bought PES3 PC, and it didn't work. He got
low frame rates on a AMD Ahlon XP 1600+ with a Geforce4 MX.
So, he bought a RADEON 9200SE 128MB ( 48€ ), and now
he doesn't have low framerates. Now he has very high
framerates. So, he spent 48+40€ and the game doesnt work.
FIFA worked perfectly since first day, without patches.

So, what would you prefer?

No, of course. In FIFA 2004 haven't seen it neither.
You can make hole pass, and combine it with OTB if you want.
Or, another option, you can order another player without the
ball in order to make ir sprint to receive your pass.
You can't play with the 11 players simultaneously, that's
impossible.

if you think bad gameplay, dark graphics, annoying interface is worth, then is ok for you

About the money, FIFA 2004 PC costs 44,95€, and PES3 PC
costs 39,95€. Only 5€ more. You can't afford buying a 45€ game?
I don't know about you, but i buy 3 or 4 games each year,
and i'm not rich. If you can't save that money, then maybe you
have an economic problem.

i also not rich though...but i just hope the game is worth the money i paid for...

So, what would you prefer?

just thought that the new 3d card you bought as future investment, nowadays the game need high requirement, like Prince of Persia: Sand Of Time, even GeForce 4MX unable to play it. official minimum recommended display card is Radeon 9200. so just take your new card as future investment

i doesn't mean i dislike FIFA, i'm FIFA supporter too, just FIFA2004 compare with PES3, it make me real dissapointed. i rather play FIFA2003 than FIFA2004

All of those gameplay "features" are what should be in the most basic soccer game anyway. Look at what they're saying. Bascially they're saying you can pass high or low, volley from close up or from a distance, make feints, etc. Excuse me but can't you already do those things?!?!

A lot of PR acting as a smokescreen for complete bollocks!

My priorities isn't FIFA but buy eating to my family and my children.
But when i see publicities about FIFA 2004, etc i think it will be a very good game but ??

It's my vision , if you think i'm not right, i can't tell you more but when you have responsabilities in your life , you must do a choice.
Family or games, after when you have a little money you can buy a game.

The problem to resume it's the speach of EA about their game.
When i see nba 2004, i play the demo the game is great.
The other game too even fifa.

When you see interview of Dany Issacs say fifa is superior to pes you believe him, but when you play after you can't accept that.
Have you seen Konami say pes is superior to fifa, no, the public is judge.

Why EA make a lot of publicitie each year about fifa, i think they're affraid of pes. It's my verity.

They can tell us FIFA is ok but we let people to judge our game, no they tell us yes fifa is great etc etc .

When you say FIFA 2004 will be the revolution 1 year before the out of game, you make what you say.
A NON BUGGED GAME, WITH ALL FONCTION AND GOOD GAMEPLAY.

This is i don't believe fifa today, they must respect their public.

Azrael if you love fifa ok for you but we haven't the same life, problem, etc to say together that fifa is a good game.

It's as your first lover, you love very much, but when you break you have a big deception.
This is my position with fifa actually.

i not gonna get hyped about how good the game looks as gameplay is what i am screaming for. EA better improve the Goalkeepers as in FIFA 2004 they are pretty usless.

Im tired of using taht lame right analog stick to do tricks, why can't we just use the shoulder buttons and do combinations? These 10 so called skill moves will probably be automatic and they choose for you:(

Hey people, stop complaining about the missing features that didn't make to Fifa 2004. They will for sure be fixed in Euro 2004. We should worry about the new amazing missing features EA will include in the new game..hahahaha Probably something like no shotting button or no ball, you know, things that dont matter since we gonna have all the stadiums in Portugal. Only a small detail..

If you love fifa ok for you but we can say that fifa isn't a very good game.

We talk about fifa in first and not pes.
If i want talk pes i do it in pes3 forum.
But actually my problem is fifa and not pes.

For me Pes is better fifa ACTUALLY but i say that in fifa forum.
If you have read all the thread, you must understand what is my objectif.

If you want same fifa every year, ok buy it and play it

The faces look awesome. The bodies however look awful. The legs look so square and sharp edged with the worst flesh coloring I think I've ever seen in a computer game. The body shapes are like the Roswell alien!

Still, great faces or great gameplay is the choice you get and it looks like EA's already made their mind up where their energy will go once again.

you all speak optimistic about the game, like I did for every fifa game since 99, except the elder versions and world cup 2002.

so what do you expect from this. especially the word "fiasco" would burst into tears in comparison to the word that would explain the heading bug in fifa2003 (such a word hasn't been invented yet). I sincerely can't understand what are you expecting from this. another fifa game which will come with decades of gameplay patches just after a week.

i agree...but i don't know to what point this is EA's fault. i mean..probably it's nike who doesn't want to sell the licenses...or they do but to a very high price...anyway if EA could just work hard for once...i mean, those boots, even without a license, look like s***! the stadiums and the weather are nice though...let's wait and see
