I've got round to setting up a "decent" design for my home page.
this was the old one:

what do you guys think ??

personnaly I like the way its nice and simple, but i also feel its still missing something.

comments and critics especially welcome.

nice intro.... it av 'waaaoo' factor ( alil bit) but ...plz dont put the background coz it looks unprofessional, unless u put beautiful background/....anyway, nice webbie & plz change the fonts to smaller size ;) . it will looks much better. another thing is fix the circle pic there (at bio, statistic)

anyway concerning the site itself ... I might change some stuff later on...

I was mainly trying to focus your attention to the home page (the ones you get as you click those links).

yeah i like it, its a big improvement tho, but imo u should do the top banner in the home page, a bit smaller ;) it will look better :p

I actually once found useful facts about the Lad there, so the site has it's place. The new design is definetely a step forward, maybe making the site as a popup with flash technology would be suitable.

I'd give it 8/10 since the site actually has a reason to be there.

Well the site doesn't really seem to flow through if you get wot i mean. Example the red box at the top of the page, the red box half way down. The toolbar at the side doesn't really fit together. There isn't much of a general colour scheme going on. Potentially its good, just need to get it flowing and stuff :D

I'll help you then, since you seem to be into making the site good.
I'll list things that could be changed imo.

those seem out of place. Why not making them smaller and putting them on one row. It's a good idea to include them to the front page, but try to make it look more professional, atleast add a border to them.

2 The front page image is good except for the "ALAN SHEARER FANSITE" text made with a font called "Stencil". A plain or techy font to there, (or nothing) and the front looks heaps better.

3. Get rid of the chanting, it just pisses off those who are on slow connections, or listening to something (who ain't?)
Atleast it ain't midi, but it still needs to go if you ask me.

4. the basic backround of the site with shearer images, no good. I think that the site needs a plain backround, maybe just white with some small grid-type texture. At this state the backround is ugly. Maybe something light with small dots at low opacity would be the thing here.

5. the Shearer animation at the right top corner, it's a great idea and I like it. The menubar would look really good if you continued the design with the balls, so that it'd be black and dark gray "balls".

try something different in the places of those..

7. try to make the site have the same kind of backround all the way. Take your time while choosing it. It'll make the site look alot better instantly. Especially the backround on the wallpaper section is hideous.

8. If you have the time, add 1pixel border to each image on the site.

this is mostly good, the size is original and atleast it fits the shape of the site overally. Just ease on the outer glow. Try a stroke like thing with low opacity.

I just listed these things to help you, not to flame or offend.

I hope this post will help you to improve your site. Your site is really good for the fans of Alan Shearer and has it's place and seems to be listed in google too.

oh, and check the spelling on the front page, aswell should really be written 'as well'

your corinthians collection is really impressive btw.

the big "shearer" pic is different every time you go to the site, or refresh.
If you want to make a splash for my home page you'd be more than welcome. I have ten different ones at the moment but I'd be glad to add yours. Only rule is the size: should be 600x350

actually if anyone else is interested in making some ... I'll put them all in ... coz there's 2 or 3 three of mine I'm not too keen on after all :p

if you're talking bout flash ... I'm not very familiar with it ... so maybe not..

but Gif would be fine.. just don't go too crazy .. I don't want to have a Gif over 200k for example lol.

That's a nice webpage, looks clean and professional, although I find the banners at the bottom spoil it. You should base the entire website on this template imo. Looks great.

:crazyboy: Yea, obssessed with it now that I saw thsoe 2 sites. :( last 3 pieces were all grunge, I made a few brushes myself, but yea better try swomething new :(

well, brushes should be used like filters to enhance artwork, not be the artwork. I also think the whole "grunge art" thing is kinda dumb anyway because a lot of people just take any image and try to make it fit into this supposed style, rather than making an image look dirty for the atmosphere or for a nostalgic look...hard to explain

but that's just me..
