View Full Version : The Milan Derby : A.C. Milan - Internazionale Milan (R)
The big derby is here! AC Milan are hosting Inter at the mighty San Siro. Both teams arent really doing well at the current moment so a win for the two of them is extremely vital.
Both team will have selection problems in defence, Milan missing Maldini (banned) and Pancaro (slight injury) and Inter missing Cannavaro, Materazzi, Coco and Gamarra. By the looks of it, half of Inter's starting defense is out.
The last meeting between the two clubs resulted in a 3-1 win for Milan, with Sheva, Inzaghi and Kaká scoring for the victors.
Inter are looking very strong offensively with Adriano, Vieri and Recoba scoring a lot for them in recent games. Nesta and Co should handle them well but would the likes of Adani, Cordoba and Helveg stop the Milan strikeforce consisting of Sheva, Kaká and Rui Costa?
Only time will tell..
Forza Milan
claupastore 16-02-2004, 10:57:AM wow
a little early aint it? hehe
well, since in 6 points behind im going for an inter win but as of right now i see it very highly unlikely :(
but then next week lazio will score another 4 goals on ya :)
Lazio may win, but another 4-0 drubbing.. Highly unlikely
SB9Dragon 16-02-2004, 11:03:AM Hopefully we don't lose, thats all I'm hoping for....(:/)
northstar 16-02-2004, 01:40:PM only if both teams could lose, this would be the perfect result. :(
If I was a Juve fan, an Inter win would be the perfect result.. Inter winning doesnt effect Juve at all
Moratti1 16-02-2004, 02:12:PM We need to get some points fast because Lazio is hot and may push us out of the Champions League for next season, freggin Uefa cup would suck.
Lazio are doing extremely well now its worrying me.. After Inter, Milan face Sparta, then Lazio!
Internazionale 16-02-2004, 02:33:PM I don't expect Inter to win in this match. I'm just expecting a draw would be great.
Forza Inter !!
Lets just hope Inter dont pull off a shocker like their 3-1 win over Juve! Haha..
And Im interested in seeing what kind of choreograph the Fossa Dei Leoni Brigade would show..

i agree that the inter defence will have problems, but the milan defence will be in just as much trouble i reckon
id rather inter's strikeforce than milans
(my opinion, dun shoot me 4 it)
well, Adriano is one striker im really affraid of.. I mean, Nesta and Maldini combined had problems marking him.. This time around, Milan are without Maldini and Milan's defense would also have to look out for Martins, Vieri and such!
italianstyle87 16-02-2004, 03:13:PM is pippo gonna play or wat?
with a 100% pippo milan looks a hundred times better
Pippo might play.. Yeah, and I admit Milan need something fresh upfront so Pippo would be a good player to play.. But I'd also like to see how Rui and Kaká will wreck the Inter defence.. Cordoba, Helveg and Adani..
:funny:
:ewan:
IceBlu 16-02-2004, 03:19:PM If Inter had won today, i would have said that Milan will beat them easily..
but after their loss today coupled with the exit from the Coppa Italia, i have a feeeling that Inter will be raring to go.
we'll just have to wait and see. As we all know, form is never a factor in Derby games like these.

Agreed.
Adriano, Vieri, Cruz, Recoba, > Shevchenko, Inzaghi, Tomasson
italianstyle87 16-02-2004, 04:31:PM dun forget the nigerian wonder
obafemi martins
he's a wild card, id like to see inter play with a 3 way attack
martins-vieri-adriano
but i dun think vieri would like it much
northstar 16-02-2004, 04:40:PM nah, Recoba is needed in their to make some plays. Adriano is going to run wild on Milan I feel.
Yeah, everyone is talking about how good Inter's attack is.. But think about their current defensive state.. with their highly attacking 3-4-1-2 formation, I think Milan will take control of the match easily.. Gattuso will mark Recoba.. Nesta will try his best againts Adriano and Billy will hopefully get the best of Vieri.. But seriously, how are Inter gonna mark Rui, Kaká, Pirlo and Seedorf? Cordoba might mark Sheva.. But the rest? (H)
italianstyle87 16-02-2004, 04:47:PM u could have it as
martins-vieri-adriano
---------recoba--------
-----X------X------X---
-----X-----X-------X---
It will most likely be:
---------------------Dida-------------------
Cafu-----Nesta----Costacurta--Kaladze
---------------------Pirlo-------------------
----Gattuso------------------Seedorf----
-----------Rui Costa----Kaká-------------
-----------------Shevchenko--------------
_________vs_________
-------------------Toldo-------------------
Helveg----------Cordoba---------Adani
------------------Farinos------------------
Zanetti---------Stankovic------Pasquale
-------------------Recoba------------------
---------------Adriano--Cruz--------------
Pingtung 16-02-2004, 06:46:PM Cannavaro's going to miss the derby? I thought he was only going to miss last weekend's match. I don't think Inter will leave out Vieri for a high profile match like this one. I believe that Inter will start a Vieri-Adriano partnership up front, doing 3 up they might as well bench Vieri.
Forget putting Costacurta in the lineup, Laursen's always ready:crazyboy:
haha.. if Laursen plays, and Inter lose......
:crazyboy:
chatterbox 16-02-2004, 08:59:PM Vieri' s final Milan derby
xxxFLYERxxx 17-02-2004, 12:31:AM Yea but Sheva is better than any one of Inters strikers.
IceBlu 17-02-2004, 12:33:AM maybe... but Adriano is right up there.
Its a shame hes playing for Inter :( For me, hes the best striker in the Serie A.
mark77 17-02-2004, 12:46:AM I never thought I'd say that Forza Inter :o

muhahah. thats wishful thinking BUT Milan WILL drop at least 2 points before the game vs Juve.
Im positive. They cannot beat both Lazio and Inter back to back.
claupastore 17-02-2004, 01:02:AM and before juve they'll have la samp, which is playing good football
well, Milan got ahead 8 points also within a month.. everything moves too fast :crazyboy:
Amdy Faye 17-02-2004, 07:49:PM What's up with Van Der Meyde? He's a great player... Or is he injured? And is Dejan playing?
Dont you know? Players who join Inter are bound to suck.. (H)
Andy may not play but Dejan will I think
Amdy Faye 17-02-2004, 08:00:PM You don't rate Van Der Meyde then Sheva?

the guy was tearing it up and now he completely disappeared. :kader:
No, I really liked (notice the past tense) him.. But he should have known better that joining Inter makes you suck..
Just look at Cannavaro now.. Vieri? :kader:
Amdy Faye 17-02-2004, 08:20:PM Yea, Adriano's very good along with Martins, Vieri I think is very over-rated and gets a lot of respect because of his name.. But it should be a good game, I like watching Gattuso in derby matches.. Are you going Sheva?
Haha.. Im not living in Italy whats more Im not even Italian.. How good would it be if I could go.. I will! One day before I die!
claupastore 18-02-2004, 02:08:AM :bouncy:
my girlfriend went to a derby di milano, i think it was in the 01-02 season, the first derby
4-2, correct? Great game that! Sheva with two, Pippo one and Contra scoring an inch perfect shot to the top corner!
claupastore 18-02-2004, 09:24:PM yea that was the one :)
Damn.. Kaká played the whole 90 mins vs Ireland :|
He must play againts Inter.. MUST!
:rockman:
Mikey 20-02-2004, 12:38:AM Inter is gonna win this game, this is all they got. Out of CL, Scudetto race, this is their last chance to make the season somewhat memorable. But for inter to win, two things will have to happen. Adriano and Vieri must start, and take Helveg out. If inter play with an all-out offensive lineup they should win, especially with Milan having a big game midweek.
I dont think Inter will win altho I have doubts.. But obviously both will play with their hearts!
Parra Power 20-02-2004, 03:44:PM oh come on now.......... since when does inter win milan derbys
3-1, 4-2, 6-0........ the cl last year........... :o
i mean................ its inter :|
The Brazilian duo of Kaka and Adriano are both promising to score for their respective clubs in the Milan derby.
The pair have spent the last week together on international duty but will come face to face on Saturday night at a packed San Siro.
"It will be the first time that we have played against each other," Milan’s Kaka stated in a meeting between the two organised by the ‘Gazzetta dello Sport’.
"How will the game end? I think we could both score but Andriy Shevchenko will also net twice for us."
Kaka became a fan favourite in the first meeting this season when he scored in the 3-1 victory.
"I remember that goal well," he added. "That is part of footballing history and I will talk about it for some years to come."
Adriano played no part in that game as he was still at Parma. But he’s looking forward to the tie.
"I’ve already beaten Milan when I was at Fiorentina and Parma," added the striker. "The game tomorrow? I’ve not scored with a free-kick for some time so we’ll see what happens."
Meanwhile, the two Coaches have also met prior to the game in a discussion organised by the ‘Corriere della Sera’.
"We are at a critical point of the season where it is vital for us to pick up three points," stated Milan’s Carlo Ancelotti.
"We’ve done well against Inter in the past few seasons but this game will be won by the team and not individuals."
Milan are hot favourites to win seeing as they are 16 points clear of the struggling Nerazzurri. But Alberto Zaccheroni is in confident mood.
"We are not inferior to Milan," he insisted. "We have the quality and if we can minimise our errors then I’m convinced we will win."

MILAN: Dida; Cafu, Nesta, Costacurta, Kaladze; Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf; Kakŕ, Rui Costa; Shevchenko.
INTER: Toldo; Helveg, Adani, Cordoba; J.Zanetti, C.Zanetti, Farinos, Pasquale; Stankovic; Vieri, Adriano.

Mikey 22-02-2004, 04:05:AM Inter can have all the top forwards they want, but you need a guy to feed them the ball. Stankovic is a great player, but no playmaker, just an attacking midfielder.
oh and read this by Berlusconi, i hope hes joking:
"From now on I will make it a rule that every manager that sits on the bench will have to play with two strikers," the Italian prime minister added. "This is not a piece of advice that I am giving, it's a new rule that this club will have to respect".

hell no !
Lazio may not have the team but they are much more tenacious and give all they have unlike Inter.
Lazio would never have got thumped 5-1 like Inter did against Arsenal.
Buying Aimar or whoever won't make any difference. They will just suck like the rest.

I dunno man. How does it explain the first 2 goals for Milan? Inter looked like they gave up.
The coach can only do so much. Inter won the midfield in teh first half, and 2nd half they were losing it. Stankovic stated to suck and someone needed to get order back. Ancelotti pulled Cuper moves too. Cafu for Pancaro heh.
This match just shows why Inter is the way they are. No balls, no killer instinct. They gave up when the match was half over, thinking they were cruising to a win.

rony31 22-02-2004, 09:48:AM check the sig bitches, cuz that's how it goes down (H)
OK, now for a serious analyzation of the match:
Pirlo was terrible all game, Adriano was killing Nesta physically and tactically, both of Inter's goals were lucky, and that's why they had a 2-0 lead at HT. 2nd half, Milan get serious, Tomasson gets us back in the game, then Kaka levels with an amazing individual effort that you'd never see from a Serie A rookie. I cant access Soccerage right now, but in the preview, they put Kaka as the player to watch for Milan, saying "his goal at the first derby gave him a taste for Inter-sinking glory, and he'll be looking for another taste all game, and by the end of 90 minutes, his hunger will be satisfied".. how true was that? and then there was Seedorf, dear God what a goal :hump: reminds me of the one he scored in 97 when he was with Real, but not as good... just plain amazing
Milan > Inter forever

Was there any time in to notice 1-2? It was 2-2 in a matter of seconds (H)
DAMN! This was the best game I've watched! Ever!! Purely because I was watching it with my best friend, an Inter fan ;)
How could someone say Inter were better in the first half?? Milan dominated the game but in the in minute 40 or something, Inter were leading 2-0 but have only had 1 shot on goal :|
Then came the magical one minute! I shouted so hard the neighbours were angry!
The third.. I was speechless I tell you.. I just jumped around but no voice was coming out.. Anyone notice Toldo's face after that goal? My friend's face was exactly like that!
What a great game..!
Forza Milan!!!!!!!!!
rony31 22-02-2004, 11:44:AM when Seedorf scored my aunt and cousin had just come in the door, and my dad was talking to them then I went back and saw Seedorf dribble and shoot and I'm just like "!!!!!! o...OHHHHH!!!!!" and started jumping around and they were all like "what in the hell" (H)

LOL, inter fans have been saying that since 1990 :crazyboy:
For Most Inter fans, i guess thats true, but i havent felt this way about them since Ronaldos final season. i NEVER for one second thought they could win this season. Sold Crespo and bought Cruz. Cruz does a lot of things good, but nothing great. VDM was the only good signing this summer. I just hoped for a CL spot, which can still be achieved.
rony31 22-02-2004, 12:06:PM Mikey: didn't your name used to say "Milanista"? :|
Mikey 22-02-2004, 12:12:PM i changed it cause i realized someone already had it. As for wat youre prob implying, im not a fan of one sole team. I guess im a neutral among serie A games, though ive always had a special interest in the Milan clubs. MY club is Fiorentina, which is where my family derives from. And theres enough milan fans so i thought id be one of the few ITALIAN interista. but no doubt when CL resumes this week ill be singing for the rossoneri and bianconeri.

A Serie A giant doesn't Santino, and IMO Inter are no way a Serie A giant this season.
Though I must say that I'm suprisingly taking this loss well probably since it just blew past me due to a party and other stuff (Internet and TV probs...)

chatterbox 23-02-2004, 09:54:AM They could still make the CL next season I think, if they win the UEFA Cup this season if I' m not mistaken !
