What would people say is currently the best "simulation" soccer game right now. Fifa2k is entertaining but it is much more of an arcade game rather than a sim. I mean try to play a full 90 minute game on WC level and you'll get scorelines like 45-30. On WC level, the computer's players seem to run twice as fast without fatiguing and slowing down and can dodge flurries of tackles when surrounded by defenders. You have to counter by using all the cheap tricks in the book to stay even because you don't have a hope in hell of keeping that ball out of your own net for very long. The aggressivness of the players on WC level is also totally wrong. Who the hell charges the goalkeeper the moment he drops the ball on the ground after a save(not to mention at supersonic speed)?

Is there a game out there where it is a true sim? I mean the defenders will act intelligently and cut-off your passing lanes and players actually come back to defend corners?

ISS Evolution (a PlayStation game but can be played on a PC - see another post in this Forum) is the best football sim that I've ever seen (and I've seen many).

The gameplay is just spot on. The player's AI (artificial intelligence) is very good even in easier skill levels. The players get tired and slow down as the game progresses. The CPU defensive is very smart but you can certainly find holes if you are patient enough. You will have just enough time to pass the ball around in the midfield and find gaps to create an attack. The CPU tactics vary from team to team, from the brilliant attacking football of Brazil to the dour defending of the lesser skills teams.

Some players are fairly accurately represented like Roberto Carlos with his long runup when taking a free kick.

The graphics and sound are very well done but not as good as FIFA2000 but when the gameplay's this good I don't think anyone would really cares.

When you are as old as I am and reflexes are not as good as they once were then this game is a welcome change from the hectic pace of FIFA2000.
