View Full Version : MEXICO @ Home Depot Center March31
anthony_2k2 21-02-2004, 05:27:AM Does anyone know if the 31st of March is a FIFA match day.
I was at the mexico-chile match on the 18th and there were adboards announcing that mexico will have a match at the HDC. Does anyone know who their opponents will be. Oh yeah i was dissapointed that mexico didnt wear the new nike uniforms, does anyone know why?
ManU2000 21-02-2004, 09:22:AM The 31st of March is a Fifa date although I don't know who Mexico will play. Maybe Stunna knows.
Bobby 21-02-2004, 09:27:AM You playing Botswana, or Guam....or neither?
anthony_2k2 21-02-2004, 01:41:PM I know a even worthless opponent GREENLAND:hump:
Andrew 21-02-2004, 04:35:PM or Scotland(H)

Greenland beat someone by 18 last year :brow:
Rochester Rhino 21-02-2004, 08:07:PM On the FIFA site there is nothing about Mexico playing on March 31.
St. Kitts and Nevis - US Virgin Islands
Netherlands Antilles - Antigua and Barbuda
Those are the 2 World Cup CONCACAF qualifying games being played that day.
Blanco150 21-02-2004, 11:57:PM It's going to be a FIFA date where Mexico will play against a opponent TBA. They were talking about Spain, Nigeria and other teams. But the one I heard of that is coming in April is MEX. vs USA Im looking foward to that one.

Anyway who did Greenland beat by 18 goals because I am moving to that country and playing on there national team. I mean what is stopping me fom being the Oliver Kahn of Papa New Guinea or some place where there is no talent and I couls fit in just nicely.
anthony_2k2 22-02-2004, 07:41:AM I would like to see a Mexico-USA game but the US is playing Poland on the 31st.
And if they were to play the US anytime soon, it wouldnt bee in Los Angeles because Mexico gets more support.
I would like to see them play an european team:rolleyes:
but not a lower class one:kader:

The USA doesn't care who gets more support in a friendly. The USA would play Mexico in Los Angeles because a lot of people would go, but they wouldn't play it at the HDC because it is too small.
For WCQs, the USA will not play its home games in Mexico in Los Angeles. In WCQs, having more support is important, it is not important in a friendly.

I think its more of an embarrasment when a national team plays in their own country and their rivals have 80% of the seats filled. That is why they would rather play in Columbus or somewhere east, we will se that in the upcoming qualifying games. Im sure the US will not play in Los Angeles, or for that matter in any part of the Sout-Western United States.
Blanco150 22-02-2004, 10:50:PM They are trying to confirm a date in April to have friendly MEXICO vs. USa it will be cool to watch.
#1 Stunna 23-02-2004, 02:25:AM the March 31st game is an official FIFA date...and it pisses me off.
Why the hell does the HDC get TWO FIFA dates in a 1 1/2 month span? But then again, if its not in California then its in Texas...as if those are the only two fu*kin states with Mexicans in them.
Both times Mexico has come to Phoenix its been a very near sell out...so wtf?
oh...and i dont know who they're playing on the 31st.

Sark, the smallest of the 4 channel islands. :D
Neither Greenland or Sark are in FIFA, it was during the island games.
anthony_2k2 23-02-2004, 07:29:AM I checked the US national team site and they have confirmed a match date with Poland on the 31st so that rules out a mex-us game.
Mauricio 23-02-2004, 09:31:AM it would be nice a match vs a powerful team butt im sure we atre going to play venezuela or sth like that
ManU2000 23-02-2004, 09:39:AM Venezuela will probably be our next rival. Weren't they supposed to have a game against us in Chiapas pretty soon? I remember that Quikzilver posted something about that in the MFD thread not too long ago.
EDIT: It can't be Venezuela. We play them in Chiapas on the 10th of March. :p

Well Sark is clearly to good for FIFA why would Sark want to be a big fish in a small pond like FIFA
Bobby 23-02-2004, 12:14:PM they play their home games in a corn field.
LuckyStrike 23-02-2004, 11:51:PM Funny thing is, it's gonna be hard for me to get a ticket to the HDC due to the living in USA Mexican fans. The HDC is an amazing facility, really world class. But if it looks like it's gonna sell out they should move the game to the Colliseum or the Rose Bowl.
Blanco150 24-02-2004, 01:53:AM I would not go to the LA Col. cuz it's dirty and nasty over there and the Rose Bowl I would not go cuz it's too far. The HDC is right down the 105 W and 91 Fwy. Nice family style Stadium, clean, and nice area and City (CARSON). Also you could tailgate at the parking lot:p (CORONA's). What we do is we buy the tickets on the first day they go on sale and we dont wait for the last minute to buy them. HDC was my first soccer game I've ever watched in the US. This was just last year vs Salvador:( . But I drove in 2002 all the way to Mexico D.F to the "AZTECA" and saw MEX vs Colombia game COOL GAME!!!:rockman:

Man I live and work near that area and it aint even like that, what you trying to say is how ghetto the LA Col. is compared to HDC. I prefer goin the LA Col. over the HDC couse I feel right at home and I aint gotta pay for parking.
Blanco150 24-02-2004, 03:04:AM  Exactly what I said Minus but you said it in a different way. :kader: LA COL. is not very family welcomed. It's a ENTER AT YOU OWN RISK colesium. I dont like that. That is why I never went to a soccer game at the LA Col. Cuz the area man is not good at all. HDC you feel more secure over there even though you have to pay those $10bucks to get parking.
LuckyStrike 24-02-2004, 03:16:AM Holy Christ the traffic on the 10 is insane when USC plays at the Col. For that reason alone i would rather see it at the HDC. Nevermind the fact that the HDC makes you feel closer to the action.
anthony_2k2 24-02-2004, 03:33:AM It was my first time at the HDC last match against chile and I opinion is that the HDC is a world class stadium. Yes it is smaller and well secured (which means any little thing you might do will result in your ejection of the game:kader: ) but you do get closer to the action. As close as your going to get unless to visit Highburry or any other English stadium. I had row 6 seats and enjoyed the game. The fact is that the fans get out of controll in the Coliseum when mexico plays. Fights breakout left and right. Its true that the HDC is more family orientated. Even before 9/11 secuurity at US sporting events has been tight. They dont allow you to bring in anything. That is why the atmosphere in MLS games compared to Mexican or Argentina league games are so different.
Blanco150 24-02-2004, 03:44:AM :o Oh yeah the seating! Perfect! I got free tickets one time for a Galaxy game? (who ever they are) and all I did that night was buy a $11.00 32oz. Corona and sat in every area I could sit at. The results were awsome.... Anywhere I sat at was perfect you could see the game as perfect as if you were sitting closer I love it!;)
ManU2000 24-02-2004, 11:40:AM For those of you wondering when the next USA-Mexico game will be, odds are that it will take place in April in, you guessed it Stunna, Texas. The game would be played at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. It isn't certain just yet though. Here's the link but its in Spanish ;) :
El clásico a Dallas (http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/story?id=214013)

jesus christ.
where was the last Mexico vs USA game...oh yeah...TEXAS! Thats so fu*kin gay.
Blanco150 24-02-2004, 10:07:PM Sorry Stunna maybe next time. Cant you drive down to Texas? are you close by?
Elder 24-02-2004, 10:30:PM You know what I find very sad? That Mexico is even allowed to play a "home" game in the USA. I know that Los Angeles has just become ""little Mexico" but it shouldn't be allowed to happen.
If you want to schedule the US against Mexico and have more Mexican fans, then that's okay with me, but we live in the United States of America... NOT Mexico.
There are alot of Germans in Brazil, should Germany play some home games there? Yeah, I didn't think so either...
LuckyStrike 24-02-2004, 10:38:PM The HDC is surrounded by a complex of soccer fields (both grass and artificial) and tennis courts. My friend and I visited the HDC the day before the USA - Denmark game. We were able to walk all the way down to the Denmark team practicing. Heck we could have sat on their damm bench. It was very cool.

The only reason why the Mexican NT be havin home field advantage up here is couse mainstream america doesnt give a crap about soccer and the only way for them promoters to make money is to schedule a game in a city that has a very dense Mexican population. So if you want the US NT to play a home game in their own soil then the best thing to do would be to schedule a game in a city where there is a small Mexican population, althought that will never happen cause there aint no money for the promoters.
