View Full Version : Dream team...
edwardray 10-12-1999, 04:36:PM It is impossible by a long shot that all these players would play for the same team, but I was just wondering what my team would be if I had them at my disposal. Day dreaming? Yeah. Post your dream team if you want to as I'd sure like to see if I'm missing someone.

edwardray 11-12-1999, 08:23:PM Of course, dudes. Rivaldo totally slipped my mind. Zidane goes to the subs bench! Denilson is one of the best left-sided wingers around, and the same goes for Roberto Carlos when it comes to wingbacks...with the latter's shot being an added bonus.
Nigerians have to figure somewhere too, I guess. If any national team in the world plays with the silkiness and flair of the Brazilians, it is probably them. 'Jay Jay' Okocha, Oliseh and Kanu definitely make the mark to be part of a dream team. Dutchmen? sure. Overmars definitely figures. Bergkamp figures. Davids figures. Kluivert figures. Seedorf figures.
Say, did anybody check out that solo goal Davids scored for Holland against Belgium a few weeks ago (in the game that eneded in a 5-5 draw)? I just saw it in some sports programme on TV...whoa dude...one of the best goals I've ever seen. Check it out if you can.
xizor 12-12-1999, 08:17:AM yeah i saw that goal from davids. Absolute magic. i wonder if anyone has the clip scanned in for the pc

It's the Marketing Woody.
That makes medium players in superstar.
PolishPower 13-12-1999, 05:53:AM Batistuta shoud have been player of the year 98? What are you smoking man?
Woody_007 13-12-1999, 06:38:AM You want a dream team? WHERE HIS LEONARDO?? HOW U CAN HAVE A DREAM TEAM WITH OUT HIM??? AND EDGAR DAVIDS?? WHAT ABOUT HIM??? JAAP STAM?? COME ON PEOPLE?? WHAT GOOD IS YOUR DREAM TEAM WITH OUT DEFENSE?? Offense wins fans, Defence wins championships .. (see Brazil in 94 and France in 98) they allowed the fewest goals in the tournament.
GK: Chilavert (Paraguay)
LB: R Carlos (R Madrid)
SW: Stam (ManU)
RB: Cafu (Roma)
LM: Overmars (Arsenal)
CM: Leonardo (Milan)
(HOW CAN YOU FORGET HIM???)
CM: Davids (Juventus)
(See Leonardo)
RM: Juninho (Middlesborough)
LF: Rivaldo (Barca)
(99 FIFA player of the year)
ST: Ronaldo (Milan)
(when he's at 100%, any reason why not??)
RF: BatiGOL!!! (Fiorentina)
(should have been 98 Player of the Year)
Manager: Johan Cryuff
(teaches simple tactics, possession football, the little things that create a dynasty)
If u can find a more balanced team than this, u r dreaming.
batistuta812 13-12-1999, 03:49:PM woody, you are dreaming that way. Leonardo has lost his main position in AcMilan, ronaldo now is the shadow of himself and davids???he's just an machine without brain.Best players now must be ones that play with the hot heart and the cold 'head',so i think the dream team now is following:
GK:P.SCHMEICHEL
LB:P.MALDINI
LCB:F.HIERRO(NESTA)
RCB:J.STAM
RB:L.THURAM
RM http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/biggrin.gif.BECKHAM
DM:R.KEANE
AM:RIVALDO(ZIDANE)
LM:R.GIGGS(SAVIO)
ST:G.BATISTUTA
FW:C.VIERI
tell me everybody ,if that's not OK!!!!!!!
Woody_007 14-12-1999, 03:24:AM To: PolishPower ..... Why shouldn't Batistuta have been 98 Player of the Year? Tell me why Fiornetina is doing so well in Champions League, or why they qualified? Tell why last year, When Del Piero got injured, why Juventus sucked, even though they had Zidane?? Who scored the only hat-trick in World Cup 98? Who averaged a goal a game last year in Serie A?? Who has average a goal every two games through out his Serie A career??
Next ... on to Batistuta812 .... Leo lost his position (because of the coach)at AC Milan and are they still in Champions League?? Where are they in Serie A? Who led the team in goals last year until Beirhoff came back from injury. You ask anyone with half a brian, and they will tell u that he is one of the best players in the world. True Ronaldo is a shadow, but give him time, he went through hell last year, he'll be back. And as for Davids, please tell me how he is a machine? You ever seen Beckham pick his team from the dead and make them a game? See friendly btw Holland and Bulgaria. And as for your comment on them being "cold-headed" ... you obviously never played football, your smarts get you no-where unless you have the heart to push yourself. The real players are those who make things happen for themselves AND their teammates, not only for themselves.
PolishPower 14-12-1999, 05:44:AM Don't get me wrong Batistuta is a great player, but things he accomplished that year still don't amount to footballer of the year when compared to others.
Zinedine Zidane was a key player on Juventus that got to Champions League final, and also key player for France team that won the World Cup. He was also the best player in the the final game(2 goals).
Zidane won the award by the biggest margin in the history of this award, going back to 1956. He got 244 points and was named on all 50 ballots. Next closest was Davor Suker with 68pts. and named on 26 ballots.
By the way Batistuta finished in 6th place.
