A mate of mine who works in TV was just telling me that for the first time next season Sky are offering fans a chance to see every single saturday game their team plays.
Apparently using the same technology that Sky Sports Extra uses for Champs league games (where you can choose which game you want to watch from all the mini screens), they're going to give you chance to watch any Premiership game in its entirely at 8pm every Saturday night.

Has anyone heard anything about this? I'd love to believe it's true. It's certainly a good idea - the late transmission time means it's won't affect ticket sales to the matches and yet everyone can watch (almost) every game.

Good idea?

Shame its exclusive to Sky Digital customers, on Telewest Digital we get Sky Sports Extra, but no red button on the screen. :(

NOT HALF !!

it is a shame that we won't get to see them live .. at 3.00, i could just imagine my saturday afternoon, well its a step in the right direction.
let's not get carried away though.

Sky have delivered the best football coverage over the last 9 years i've had it. And have been the first to use new technology or new ideas.

They would never do a 3pm kick off transmission (just like they never do now) because it would affect gate receipts (especially at some of the small clubs). Given the choice, some people would rather pay the sky subsciption fee than the £25 or so to watch it live. So it'll never happen I'm afraid mate.

Anyroad I know sky "won" the auction for a number of the Premier League packages, but the right to show the games before BBC wasn't one of them. MoTD gets to show highlights before anyone else. (unless its a midday K/O)

I dont think its a good idea. I have NTL and the red button feature don't work for me, which is out of order seeing as i pay £15 a month for Sky Sports. I don't like the idea because i will be watching alot of default games which will be Arsenal and Man Utd most of the time.

yes I'm aware of all that of course.
What I meant was that a few years ago we had one game a week then two now 4 or 5, if you get to see prem.+.

I am pretty sure that in the near future we will have every Premiership game live. Either it be through Sky or another opperator. Or through every teams own tv channel.

It aleady is like that here in France. You have a "multiplex" on Sat. evenings for example where you can basically watch any of the 7 or 8 games played. And attendances haven't changed that much.

Living abroad makes it a bit frustrating trying to follow your team... so i'd like to see this happen in England. It wouldnt affect PremierLeague gates that much i don't think.
