Brazilian striker Ronaldo has agreed a two-year extension to his contract with Spanish champions Real Madrid.
The 2002 Fifa World Player of the Year will stay with the Spanish champions until 2008.

"I am delighted because I feel fine with the club and in the city as well - I am very happy here," Ronaldo told the club's website.

Ronaldo joined Real from Inter Milan for £29.8m two years ago, just after helping his country win the World Cup.

He is Real's top scorer with 22 goals this season, just one fewer than he scored in the whole of last season when Real won their 29th league title.

do contract lengths really matter? i mean, a big transfer fee pretty much voids the contract and he could be gone within the year. just because he signed an extension doesn't mean he's not going elsewhere down the road.

I'm convinced that he'll genuinly stay in Madrid for the remainder of his contract. Where else would want to go, anyway?

If he wanted more money, he would already be at Stamford Bridge by now.

well, signing a contract extension may include a signing bonus. a transfer to chelsea would include a pay raise and another signing bonus. i still wouldn't rule it out if he wants money.

well yea that's true. but i was just saying that, i wouldn't be surprised to see him be allured by the big money elsewhere before 2008.
