Hasselbaink tells Blues: 'I'm leaving'

Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink has told Chelsea he will leave in the summer unless he is guaranteed first-team football.

The Dutch striker has become increasingly disillusioned by the rotation policy operated by Ranieri.

He is no longer assured of a starting place, due to strong competition for places from the likes of Eidur Gudjohnsen, Hernan Crespo and Adrian Mutu.

And Hasselbaink told Dutch TV show Studio Sport that it would be his intention to leave Stamford Bridge in the near future unless his personal situation improves.

'I have informed the management of the club in December that I will leave the club if I can't play on a more regular basis,' said the 31-year-old who cost Chelsea £15million when he joined from Atletico Madrid in June 2000.

'I want to play every week.'

Hasselbaink will have a year left on his contract at the end of the current season, and he feels as though there is little prospect of Ranieri changing his unpredictable team selections.

'There is no competition at all. He (Ranieri) makes a lot of changes, but if you play well you can very well be on the bench again the next game.'

Hasselbaink has eight league goals this season, having started only 17 games.

Leeds, Boavista and Atletico Madrid are among his former clubs, and it has been mooted in the Spanish media that the Primera Liga could be the next stop-off in his career, with Barcelona having admired from afar for several seasons.

Makes a fair point about the tinkerman. Someone needed to say and J.F.H. said what most were thinking. You can't blame him heshould be playing regularly. Jim Floyd Hasselbaink is one my favorite players to watch in the EPL and Newcastle really need to go after him. Even at 31 he would really be great for Toon. I think Chelsea need him though. He has the most tenure at the club I think and Chelsea really can't afford to let guys like Hasselbaink go to bring in flavor of the month players. If Roman and Ranieri they would keep him. Chelsea letting J.F.H. get away would be like Arsenal selling Bergkamp or Man United getting away with Solskjaer. They are not the most prominant players at the club but they are keys to their teams success.

If Jimmy Floyd leaves, Chel$ki will probably go out and buy three more strikers in the summer. Honestly, it wouldn't shock me if they did. :nape:

Nah I bet Hasselbaink could beat Norwich all by himself. I see it now.

Hasselbaink makes a superb save on Huckerby and now he goes on a run up the pitch weaving around the helpless Norwich defenders. He is in the box he nutmegs the goalkeeper and scores again that would be his third hat trick today. Hasselbaink 9 Norwich 0. What an incredible display by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink absolutly thrashing a very poor Norwich City team.

Not surprised, really, I bet it will get even worse when Roman decides to open up his check book this summer so he can start buying unnecessary players for ridiculous prices.

Seb, You moron how dare you call Hasselbaink ****.

His scored regularly at every club he has played at, and the amount of times he has saved Chelsea from defeat or 1point draws, I have honestly lost count.

Hasselbaink is a world class foward unlike your precious Huckerby who couldn't even get a 1st team spot at Man City.

My Grandma would start for Man City.

Well, first Cole and now Hasselbaink.
Looks like the rotation system is taking it's toll at Stamford Bridge. Roman should probably ease off the purchasing for a while, and give Ranieri a little time to find out what his best side is at the moment.

I love Jimmy Floyd and I agree, Ranieri makes horible selections. I wonder wut it would be like if Veron was fit. Cole would not even be on the bench.

Though I must admit that Hasseilbank is still class and its too bad that Chelsea became outrageously rich and got 2 other classy strikers which limits his playing time....

Though if he left I wonder where he would go to??

hasselbaink is class.

but if he wants a regular spot on the first team, he should move on. he's not getting any younger. he can still play but i can't see him being a regular first teamer at chelsea with the players they have up front.
