sorry mates, but I'm afraid people here is not really in the mood for football ...

There has been a terrosit attack in Madrid in 3 train stations. About 170 dead already and 400 injured.

I don't have much more to say now. I'm shocked for all the things I'm lisenig on the news.

a terrible incident indeed. This is not what life is about. I have read that both Barca and Celtic where willing to postpone the match but UEFA have insisted that it goes ahead. Life as they say must go on and we shouldn't let terrorists stop the decent people of this planets way of life.

my prediction on ther match for what its worth right now is that celtic will win 1-0, In all honesty its fair to say that the players and staff of Barca will have more important things on their minds.

My sympathy and regrets to all those who have suffered through this terrible act. :(

It's not a shame to lose there. Celtic are one of Europes strongest teams when playing in front of their own crowd.

Celtic will prob. play young David Marshall in goal in the 2nd leg.
Still chuffed about tonights result, although we were very lucky at times.
Can't wait for the game at the Nou Camp ... Barca are a fantastic team, but maybe the Bhoys can sneak an away goals victory.

Well, I think tonights game was a little muted, In fairness I think the players of Barca were not really into the game. I cant say I blame them. The game was a very subdued in my eyes an I think that the next leg will be tough on us( Celtic ). I would like to say sorry on behalf of 99.9% of Celtic fans to the people of Spain for the idiots who where making noises during the minutes silence.
It, as you may have heard, is not typical of our fans to be arseholes and I hope that nobody took the idiots noises to heart. As people say "There's always one ! ".
Let us all look forward to a fantastic 2nd leg and may the best team win. Hopefully the wankers who were responsible ( be it Basque seperatists, Al Qaieda or any other ****wits with small cocks)for todays attrocities will be in front of a firing squad before to long.

(Y) True

There are always that tiny minority of "fans" who will try and give the real supporters a bad reputation.

Well done Celtic.

However, I think Barcelona are capable enough of digging up a few goals in the 2nd-leg with or without Saviola, it will be a close one.

I've heard they were very respectful. If between 60.500 people there are 50 idiots, it is not necessary to give them importance.

Rijkaard after the match:
"hay cosas más importantes que el fútbol. Antes del partido estábamos muy mal porque ha sido una noticia horrible. Después la directiva se ha comunicado con el Gobierno, la Federación y la UEFA y se ha decidido jugar, pero siempre con una cosa en la mente: hay cosas más importantes que el fútbol, aunque somos profesionales".

They are the radical faction that use the football in Barcelona. The 90% of them can't enter in the Camp Nou since Laporta is presiding the club. Laporta has received threats of death in his house, there was even recompense to hit him a beating.

It's not strange for me to believe that they said it.

However ,when things cool down in 2 weeks we're gonna give 'em a good outclassing in the Nou Camp.
Besides ,Barca were outnumbered and it would've been a major letdown for Celtic if they got something besides a win.

Congrats for Celtic on a deserved win ,but I am sorry ,we will be advancing from this tie.

You'd find the culture here is to have a good time and get as pished as possible whenever we are abroad with no ill intent, so no surprise there. Hell, we need it. It's not as if we follow our sides to watch good quality football, so whenever we have the opporchancity to rub shoulder's with the best we make sure we maximize the experience with alcohol. (H)

It's just that when they are at home they come bloody close to being the scummiest of the scum. Sure they did themselves proud in Spain, but in that same season we had:
-Fans chanting IRA songs outside the ground during a minute's silence for 9/11 (It should be stressed that this was coming outside the ground, but would good fans be chanting such things at a football game, and more importantly, during a time of respect for the dead of that incident? :kader: )
-Blocking Hearts' fans entrance from outside the stadium when we beat them 2-1 (Not reported in the news, but it was a large crowd throwing bottles and coins, with police needing to bring out the dogs and shields to protect the Hearts support. Also a fair few of these were women and children)
-Rumours of intimidating Kilmarnock fans on the day they lost the league (Obviously can't confirm this, but I can imagine them doing such things)
-Fans rioting on the plane back from a UEFA cup tie with Celta Vigo because smoking was barred on flight, which caused the plane to stop at Cardiff.

So ok, they had a great time. Won't question that. They seem to have been amazing ambassadors for both Scottish football and Celtic. Fine. But to give them such an award with all my reasons (which is literally the tip of the iceberg)? You're having a laugh. (N)

I await jackie's reply to this. And aye jackie, our mob are a shower of fuds too, but only to weegies and the weeteam. ;)

You forgot the Celtic fans imitating a plane in the stands just after 911...this was aimed at American Claudio Reyna who was playing for Rangers at the time.
They sing songs about child killers and assasins :f***:
Best fans my F***ing arse!!

Oh poor, deluded people. :(

Hey mate, i know what i´m talking about, everyone has the right to his opinion, so respect mine allowing me to respect yours, ;).

My opinion didn´t came out of nowhere, i WAS in Seville in the UEFA Cup final and i WAS at Stadium of Light when Portugal played Eire for the World cup qualifiers, so i´m intitled to compare them. I think that the Irish fans are as noisy as the Celtic fans in the stands, with the advantage of being much more enjoyable folks in the bars. That´s why i think that Eire fans are better! As i said before that´s my opinion based in my own experience so live with it, this is a free forum and you must learn how to respect the opinions of others avoiding those patronising comments like you did, i don´t recognise in you any knowledge superiority to do so!
