The last I heard, the 34 year old Batistuta was playing in Qatar where he was making waaaaaay more money than what he is worth !:rockman:

Hes playing in Qatar for Al-Arabi.

The money is good and theres no club that would pay that amount for his services in Europe. So hes just trying to earn a few bucks before finally hanging up his boots for good.

Having said that, he might play for Fiorentina again for one last season.

not just that.

Footballers are always in the public eye and like to go around with a trophy wife.

So it works both ways.

He was supposed to be the next big player for Argentina after that guy retired...........what is his name> Diego Maradona. But Batistuta turned out to be a major international failure. No semis in 98 or 2002.

They started over and changed their name to Florentia Viola (I think) but then the prez bought back the rights of the name Fiorentina and now they are in Serie B and there is a chance they could be back in the Serie A next year :o

Now that would be an incredible comeback...

From Serie C1 to Serie B in a year then from Serie B to Serie A the next :o

Actually they played as Florentia Viola in the Serie C2 (not C1) and they jumped directly to Serie B when recovered the old name.

Hakan Sukur is in Galatasaray and Rivaldo are negociating terms with Flamengo after being released by Cruzeiro.

I think Claudio Lopez still plays for Lazio but I don't know if he's scoring as many goals as he did in his Valencia years.

55 Goals in 75 Internationals

If that is a failure, I have no idea what on earth you consider a success. So he didn't win the World Cup, he's still one of the greatest players to ever wear the argentine jersey.

That was a pathetic comment to make.:kader: :kader:

Yeah, 56 goals in 78 games (number may be wrong...but it's close to that), and Argentina's top score (yes, more goals than Diego).....some international failure that is....

Well it doesnt look liek they will get to seria A next year, they are struggling in mid table in serie B, they even sacked their manager

But i dont think it would prevent him from coming back to the club if he wanted to, Gianfranco Zola went to Cagliari in Serie B. BTW hows he doing anyway?
