View Full Version : Ruud's Cannes game rpvankasteren 28-03-2004, 04:50:AM Ok first off I'll do like Cody and prove I kept to the rules I set myself. :) rpvankasteren 28-03-2004, 04:54:AM As you can see I've already been playing a while. Next I'll post my transfers and the one that's following. I haven't sold any players, as I didn't think I needed to. There is interest in Michel Rodriguez from Caen, however. rpvankasteren 28-03-2004, 05:03:AM So far I've played 4 friendlies. I've lost one, to Wisla Krakow, after a 3-1 loss in the penalty shootout. 0-0 at the final whistle. I've won 2-0 against Wolves, 2-5 at Bastia, and 3-1 against Celtic. I'm starting to fear Cody was right about this going to be an easy league... Of course, it's just friendlies, we'll have to see. Next I'm playing Dortmund home. I'm starting 14 year old Belgian GK Gabriel Gulyas in this one. He's had 4 good sub appearances for me so far, conceding 2 against Bastia, but keeping his net clean the other games. Suleiman Mohammed is a 19 year old Nigerian, who's going to be my captain it seems. My team works better, when I give him the band in stead of Laurent de Palmas. rpvankasteren 28-03-2004, 05:07:AM This is Suleiman's report card, great find, hope he gets a bit better still :p PSVFOREVER 28-03-2004, 05:08:AM wtf?? He's awesome rpvankasteren 28-03-2004, 05:09:AM I know! His physical stats are through the roof for a 19 year old. :D Kulixs 28-03-2004, 05:13:AM How the hell did u find him!! Ive found quite a good few players. But nowt that matches him! rpvankasteren 28-03-2004, 05:15:AM I've also signed some extra staff: Kulixs 28-03-2004, 05:17:AM Ruud = MASTER rpvankasteren 28-03-2004, 05:19:AM I knew about him from my first 03/04 game with FC Den Bosch. He wouldn't come to me there, but here he did want to come :p I realise now, that I only signed one under 18, so Beardsley will mostly be managing randoms for me now. The only under 18 I have has even become my second choice Gk :) I tried to get Ben Arfa, Zwikker, and Jo, as I wanted some good young strikers in the backup, but they wouldn't come. I'll see about some in a bit as well. Kulixs 28-03-2004, 05:21:AM Originally posted by rpvankasteren I knew about him from my first 03/04 game with FC Den Bosch. The first half went better than expected, actually, only conceding the one goal, but my young GK finally really cracked under the pressure of Koller and Addo after half time. My first GK, Padovani, kept a clean sheet afterwards, so good result really, and the crowd turn up was good as well :p rpvankasteren 28-03-2004, 06:30:AM After selling Rodriguez to Caen for £45k, I signed this guy for £65k: rpvankasteren 28-03-2004, 06:31:AM I won my first match away at Ajaccio, 0-1. Nothing special. rpvankasteren 29-03-2004, 12:36:AM Update after 10 league games. First the results: rpvankasteren 29-03-2004, 12:38:AM This adds up to these standings: rpvankasteren 29-03-2004, 12:41:AM I got this message after the Sannois match :(: PSVFOREVER 29-03-2004, 12:41:AM god, you play much better than I do (my board is already unhappy) rpvankasteren 29-03-2004, 12:42:AM But his performance is still pretty good  (after 10 games) rpvankasteren 29-03-2004, 12:44:AM Originally posted by PSVFOREVER (my board is already unhappy) My board is just satisfied, the supporters love me though :) rpvankasteren 29-03-2004, 04:02:AM Halfway point. I think I might come out on top at the end of the season (:/) rpvankasteren 29-03-2004, 04:04:AM Games I played since earlier today: Kulixs 29-03-2004, 04:06:AM My board was just "Satisfied" at one point. now there happy with me, but the fans have always loved me. :D rpvankasteren 29-03-2004, 04:07:AM My last match, the team was playing like ****, and actually fell behind. I was 'worrying' I might even lose this game, but suddenly they started playing their usual game... rpvankasteren 29-03-2004, 04:09:AM By now, the board also loves me. The scene however seems to have their doubts: TottiNZidaneR#1 29-03-2004, 04:15:AM you seem to be doing very good, keep it up.:rockman: rpvankasteren 29-03-2004, 09:08:PM Target reached! 9 matches to play in the league, and I've become unreachable to all the others. My championship match against Raon-l'Etape was a tribute to the season. Good to be back in form, as I was 'struggling' a bit earlier on, with two draws and a loss in a small period of time. I've got the quarter final coming up for the French Cup, against Laval. Only 4 teams from the First League still in it, but three will probably make it through to the semis, as two face each other, and two face non-league sides :|... PSVFOREVER 29-03-2004, 09:16:PM god, you're too good. Who do you play in the quarters? rpvankasteren 29-03-2004, 09:39:PM Laval away, I lost 3-0. I'm only human, I guess. :p The money is always useful, though :rockman: rpvankasteren 30-03-2004, 04:03:AM Season's over. I dropped some more points, but the end-of-season effect didn't cost me too much: rpvankasteren 30-03-2004, 04:04:AM My players got pretty good ratings all year, especially Marsiglia: rpvankasteren 30-03-2004, 04:05:AM Here's the reason why: shokz 30-03-2004, 04:06:AM Wow, 102 pt's, amazing Ruud. (Y) (H) rpvankasteren 30-03-2004, 04:08:AM I'm actually quite unhappy with my defensive players. Both losses and one of the draws were due to stupid red cards my defenders were dealt. That's what happens with young defs, I suppose... PSVFOREVER 30-03-2004, 04:10:AM How the hell got Marsiglia 54 goals? He's a midfielder:o rpvankasteren 30-03-2004, 04:30:AM That's my tactic. I have the MC running forward when we're in possesion, and it suits Marsiglia very well. He becomes the most forward striker, really, with Kristjánsson and Zoko a little further to the side and back. rpvankasteren 30-03-2004, 04:40:AM The team of the year, and player of the year, domination :): TottiNZidaneR#1 30-03-2004, 10:48:AM Very good, damn Ruud do you have a job or go to school:crazyboy: You went thorw 1 season very quickly, its takes me a while to get thorw 1 season.:o rpvankasteren 31-03-2004, 01:42:AM I was off the whole weekend, and monday's I only have 2 hours of work, so that explains that. I'll slow down now, probably :jap: rpvankasteren 31-03-2004, 04:06:AM I've been given a £2.1M transfer budget, which was boosted by the sale of De Palmas for £925k +50% to PSG. I also had a big boost in wages, so I decided to expand my player-count. I brought in these: rpvankasteren 04-04-2004, 04:40:AM New update. I have one transfer arranged for the winter. Strasbourg came to me with this offer. And although Zoko has been exceptional for me, I don't see this deal getting any better. :) rpvankasteren 04-04-2004, 04:43:AM These are the standings one third of the season gone: rpvankasteren 04-04-2004, 04:44:AM And how I got there: shokz 04-04-2004, 07:32:AM Carlier (Y) rpvankasteren 04-04-2004, 11:34:PM I know :shades: PSVFOREVER 04-04-2004, 11:42:PM He scored 228 and gave 117 assists for my team in 241 (81) matches rpvankasteren 05-04-2004, 12:05:AM His coming and Zoko's leaving alos solves the problem of having 4 non-eu players in my squad. I'm just as happy about that as about Carlier's individual quality. rpvankasteren 08-04-2004, 03:36:AM Next update! Games played: rpvankasteren 08-04-2004, 03:39:AM The standings: rpvankasteren 08-04-2004, 03:41:AM Carlier is a starter already, but he gets tired fast, due to his age. I'll rotate him and Villanueva for the rest of the season: chrissyd 08-04-2004, 11:01:AM yes Rudy Carlier :D and isnt it so UN surprising that freddy adu is in the news...havent we expected that for years btw did you get thrashed by Monaco or did u thrash them 7-0 ? infact i dont think you need to answer that...i just saw that you beat angouleme 7-0 so i would say that pretty much explains it... btw what happened in the game that Rudy got a 4 ? the game against lorient... rpvankasteren 08-04-2004, 09:21:PM Yeah, Monaco are absolute crap in my game :S As for Rudy's 4: The whole team was crap in that match. It ended 0-0 because of my GK, Lastuvka. rpvankasteren 09-04-2004, 05:50:AM Second season over. My team did well. First title was the League Cup (I have my GK on penalty-duty): rpvankasteren 09-04-2004, 05:52:AM Second was the league title (check Monaco  ): rpvankasteren 09-04-2004, 05:53:AM Average ratings in the league: rpvankasteren 09-04-2004, 05:54:AM Goals in the league: rpvankasteren 09-04-2004, 05:56:AM Team of the year (not as dominant this season): rpvankasteren 09-04-2004, 05:57:AM Third! title was the French Cup: rpvankasteren 09-04-2004, 05:58:AM And last the final fixtures: Tom 09-04-2004, 08:05:AM ******* hell, well done Ruud! pat on the back TROD. Kulixs 09-04-2004, 08:41:AM Guy is a master at ths game  Morpheus_X 09-04-2004, 10:39:AM nice unbeaten i see. quality rpvankasteren 10-04-2004, 05:28:AM Thanks :shades: I feel very good now. :p And the money is soooo good... 2nd League title: £535,000 French Cup: £1,200,000 League Cup: £1,500,000 Plus I had steady gate receipts at ~£500,000 per month all season :D rpvankasteren 15-04-2004, 01:14:AM Another half a season done. I'll give you a bit of an overview again. First the transfers: rpvankasteren 15-04-2004, 01:16:AM Which gives me this for the first team: rpvankasteren 15-04-2004, 01:18:AM The current standings after 18 matches played: rpvankasteren 15-04-2004, 01:19:AM And the games I played: (I'm still in all the cups :)) rpvankasteren 15-04-2004, 01:34:AM I'm up against Besiktas in the next round of the UEFA cup. More serious competition. They have just 14 regular players, so it's a bit of a long shot, considering all the randoms there, but I think I can do it. rpvankasteren 15-04-2004, 03:34:AM It's the 1st of January. Mexès has arrived injured (:/)... only 5 days though. phew. At least the commercial manager was content  Rudy Carlier got some acclaim as well: Savo 20-04-2004, 06:42:AM Great work man (Y) rpvankasteren 26-04-2004, 03:40:AM Thanks :) New update, I was knocked out of the league cup by Montpellier after penalties, meh... rpvankasteren 26-04-2004, 03:45:AM 5 weeks later I was offered the position of manager for Cameroon. With the World Cup coming soon, and the group stage they had drawn ((H)), I decided to extend my game by a tournament. rpvankasteren 26-04-2004, 03:47:AM League and French Cup going very well. I'll post about those when I'm kicked out/finish. Tom 26-04-2004, 04:40:AM you should get through ruud. TROD. rpvankasteren 26-04-2004, 04:43:AM I know. It's between me and Paraguay. I give myself 1-4 odds. rpvankasteren 27-04-2004, 09:58:PM Obviously the bookies think different: PSVFOREVER 27-04-2004, 10:00:PM Cameroon is a good squad, I won Africa cup 2008 with them, and ended 3rd in WC 2006. (In my Strasbourg game) rpvankasteren 27-04-2004, 10:09:PM I'll come back to the WC later, as I haven't played it yet, and Cannes is more important here anyway. After being forced out of the League Cup thanks to my excellent penalty takers, I was left battling on three fronts only. First to be decided was the league. I'll post the final standings only, but it was decided the afternoon before my 32nd match, against Sochaux away. On this afternoon Auxerre, number 2 in the rankings, and playing the 33rd match of their league ties, had to face 3rd placed Guingamp, away. They took a 0-1 lead, early in the game, but after the break Guingamp hammered them down to a 4-1 loss. It was the 22nd of April. Our match ended a 1-1 draw, the last points lost this season as it turned out. It didn't matter. :) Final standings: rpvankasteren 27-04-2004, 10:14:PM Next decider was the 24th of May in Rotterdam. I had to play PSV in the UEFA Cup final. The semi against PSG had been quite close, losing 2-1 away, and having a penalty against the 80th minute of the home/return game, at 2-0 at the time. My GK, young Belgian Gulyas, held it and Kristjansson finished it off 2 minutes later. The final was lots less even: PSVFOREVER 27-04-2004, 10:16:PM :kader: how dare you:kader: rpvankasteren 27-04-2004, 10:18:PM PSV's manager thinks it was a fair result :read: rpvankasteren 27-04-2004, 10:19:PM The fans had a ball as well :p rpvankasteren 27-04-2004, 10:21:PM Then there was one left, the French Cup, the 3rd of June. I wasn't going to let this one get away, of course, after recent successes: rpvankasteren 27-04-2004, 10:24:PM Fans were less extatic, but still happy... rpvankasteren 27-04-2004, 10:30:PM My players got quite some rewards as well. 1: Jasar Takak, best foreign player. rpvankasteren 27-04-2004, 10:30:PM 2: David Hernandez, 2nd best revelation of the year. rpvankasteren 27-04-2004, 10:32:PM 3: Gabriel Gulyas, most promising player. rpvankasteren 27-04-2004, 10:33:PM 4: Star of the year, Porarinn Brynjar Kristjansson. rpvankasteren 27-04-2004, 10:34:PM 5: Me, manager of the year (and also the season). lol at Rudi Völler... rpvankasteren 27-04-2004, 10:36:PM Team of the season, back to the old days... rpvankasteren 27-04-2004, 10:37:PM Average ratings: rpvankasteren 27-04-2004, 10:39:PM Top goalscorers in the league: rpvankasteren 27-04-2004, 10:40:PM Why didn't Carlier get into the Team of the Season? I have no clue... rpvankasteren 27-04-2004, 10:41:PM Finally: the fixtures list. rpvankasteren 27-04-2004, 10:45:PM Now on to the World Cup. Three of my players were selected by their national managers: Phillipe Mexès, Suleiman Mohammed, and Jan Lastuvka. Not too many, thank you, as I still had to play the French Cup final without them... rpvankasteren 28-04-2004, 03:31:AM Ok, I've finished my game :( I came to the world cup having been asked to reach the second round. As I said earlier, that shouldn't be too hard. First game was Paraguay. My GK scored an own goal to get them up 1-0, well it was a deflected free kick really. My young striker Vincent Péricard scored 2 on his debut to keep the 3 points with us. Good performance all around, but the defense looked a little bit unreliable, really. Second was Guinea, who were beaten 3-0 by Holland in the first match. The only highlight in this match was an excellent free kick by Achille Emana from the edge of the 16 yard box, a little left from the center of the opponents goal. Oh, and a fierce tackle from behind by Samuel Eto'o, injuring an opponent and earning him a yellow. Holland had drawn against Paraguay, so I had qualified from the group stage already, needing a draw against Holland in the 3rd match to win the group. Then Holland. This was always going to be a hard one. When my right back, Jean-Noël Perrier-NDoumbé, fouled Makaay in the box after 6 minutes, earning him a yellow which would have concequences later on, the lead was easily obtained by Holland. The match played out rather even, to my surprise, and my DMC Valéry Mezague was able to draw us level just after half-time. Then there was my right back again. He complained about an offside call once too many, and he was sent off. Crap. Luckily I had Rigobert Song on the bench, so I brought him on for Samuel Eto'o. Which annihilated my chances of winning, but I was quite sure we were not going to lose. And we didn't. rpvankasteren 28-04-2004, 03:33:AM In the second round I had to face Senegal. The game was very uneven, and I'm sure we would have scored a couple more if I hadn't taken off both my strikers and my GK to give some others their debuts. rpvankasteren 28-04-2004, 03:39:AM Real opposition again in the quarters, facing the generic side of the U.S.A.. Thank you SI and MLS for your conflict. The match was completely theirs to be taken, especially in the first half, if only they had scored some. When Geremi scored a lucky long range effort, a couple of minutes before half-time, their side looked like it was demoralized. They couldn't get a good attack afoot in the second half, and my team didn't do anything at all. Only Eto'o, who earned himself his second yellow of the tournament, meaning he was suspended for the semi final. Later in the match my other striker, Péricard, got injured, resulting him to be out for a month. rpvankasteren 28-04-2004, 03:49:AM I was to face Mexico in the semi final. They had gotten some ok results against South Korea and Germany, but we should have been able to beat them. If we had any real strikers left. My backup strikers were my starting MR, Emana, and ML, Thomas Job, who are excellent on their favoured position, but not as good as strikers. I had rated them better than this when I selected my squad. My two backup wingers, Eric Djemba-Djemba on the right and Pierre Wome on the left, did an excellent job replacing them though. This led to a game that saw many many small chances for my two "strikers", and 2 for Mexico. They played very professional counter attacks, and we lost fair and square. rpvankasteren 28-04-2004, 04:02:AM The last match then, the 3rd place playoff. I faced France in this one. They had an almost completely fit squad, and it was very good to beat them. The only one to be a bit doubtful was Vieira who started with a fitness value of 61. They started the match off in a high pace, but my ML, Job, proved that he did know how to finish a good long run off. Vieira was bravely tracking him the whole way from the center of the pitch to the left edge of the 16 yard box. There Job left him standing and passed my Cannes player Phillipe Mexès like he wasn't there. No really, he ran straight through him. The finish against Barthez was an easy one. Vieira soon had to leave the pitch, when he received a push from Geremi, who collected his 2nd yellow of the tournament there, and will be suspended the next time I touch that game. The game then became more even. Until Pires' red in the second half, for kicking at my right center back, Lucien Mettomo, ended their resistance. We got two more goals after that, but they didn't really do anything anymore. Obviously, I wasn't sacked after the tournament. rpvankasteren 28-04-2004, 04:04:AM Rounding off the game, I'll post the full squad that was to start the next season, first team, reserves, and under 18s (who won the u18 championship as well last season) all together: rpvankasteren 28-04-2004, 04:05:AM One future transfer, I've tried it before, but now I was able to sign him. Again his contract expires: rpvankasteren 28-04-2004, 04:06:AM The finances I end the game with: rpvankasteren 28-04-2004, 04:07:AM And the very last one, the title odds for the 06/07 season: Parra Power 01-06-2004, 06:07:PM how did you get your reputation up so much :O ive won the italian cup, the uefa cup, and both super cups in the last two seasons (08/09 now. 6,5 and 4 were my latest league placings) and i still dont even get a mention in the odds  rpvankasteren 01-06-2004, 10:08:PM I don't know, I'm not a bookie. My guess would be your reputation is lower, because you haven't won the league yet, and possibly neither have any of your players. The last year, the bookies noted me either 500-1 or 1000-1 as well. Now I won UEFA and the league, and it's up to 7-4 (1 new signing (Roncatto), 1 departure (Faubert)). mjeh 12-06-2004, 02:45:PM nice challenge and nice result, but you do know that you're winning these games with a crack in the pavement of tactics management.... considered a cheat on most forums, in fact... i've participated in a few official challenges already in which this "running" midfielder tactic is simply prohibited... lol, nevertheless, you did well, with some very nice finds, although again using thorarinn (note the spelling, lol, it follows icelandic pronunciation) brynjar kristjansson does not show too much talent finding skill either would be good to see an "official" challenge here in which members can participate against each other... rpvankasteren 13-06-2004, 03:23:AM I do know about the running mid, but I'm not going to drop my CM4 tactic. My tactic existed before the 'cheat', so I don't think it's cheating. I never used Kristjansson before this game, and he was all that wanted to come to me. I needed some attacking strength. Carlier wanted to come, but I couldn't afford him with my funds. When Strassbourg offered him, I took him gladly. mjeh 13-06-2004, 04:40:AM Originally posted by rpvankasteren I do know about the running mid, but I'm not going to drop my CM4 tactic. (between cm players) i don't know carlier, but then i usually just play the english leagues, with no other league... and i'm playing one now, and carlier isn't there... :( kristjansson is a legend ;) like thorhallsson (note spelling :P) in cm4 rpvankasteren 13-06-2004, 10:22:PM All Icelandic players are heroes in CM 03/04. :p I made you a corrected version of your sig, btw.
