View Full Version : Your Tricks, Share em
Amdy Faye 29-03-2004, 03:06:AM I saw the nutmeg post and thought 'hmm I wonder what other tricks these guys can do' so here we go'
I closely watch my favourite players, C Ronaldo and Ronaldinho especially, but I love watching players like Denilson and Quaresma to see their moves.
I every day get a ball and practice, I say to myself 'to start tricks, you must do atleast 100 keep ups, or keep the ball on ur foot for as many minutes as you can', it's for my mind to help me progress.
I regularly do step overs, the more you do them the better you get, one is effective enough for me (an english player). But I like doing the flick C Ronaldo does (v dennis irvin @ wolves, v volz @ loftus road), this gives a quick burst for me and provides me with a bit of space to run in to.
Left Midfield is my usual position, but I like to play on the right also, this is because it improves my right foot and there's some important moves which can be done for a left footer on the right wing, it's great.
So yea, tell me your tricks, how you practice them, and any advice to a 15 year old who's looking to play football for a profession, I can do it I know I can, just wondering if anyone's 'been there' so to speak and what tricks/exercises they do.
Reply cuz i've never had like 2 pages for a post i've made lmao! Thanks :rockman:

lol, you obviously watch dave chapelle
i don't know if this is ever been done before, but i thought of it on my own. You lift the ball up your leg a little, and roll it around behind your leg, and when you get to the other side, let go of the ball and it pops right in front of your feet.
Sanel 29-03-2004, 03:26:AM hey Cristiano if you want to be a professional soccer player, you should search for my thread its called something like "QUICKNESS AND SPEED" or "IMPORTANCE OF QUICKNESS AND SPEED IN SOCCER" something like that.
some people gave me lots of tips and good excercises to train because i am on my way to a professional soccer career as well.
good luck mate. ;)

Thanks for asking dude(H)
stepovers stepovers stepovers for me :p
Dumisani 29-03-2004, 04:08:AM there's these two i love doing, the first is the freestyle skill Ronaldo had in FIFA 03 and the second one is to let the ball run between my feet, stop it with my left just behind me and then flick it with my right (H) . works everytime
Andrew 29-03-2004, 04:08:AM Just sometimes i pretend to shoot with my left foot, do a quick cruyff turn on to my right and i shoot with my right foot. I sometimes when i play winger, like to sprint down the wing and do something similiar to what Redondo did do henning berg, when Madrid played ManUtd a few years back in the Champions League

if you go to my thread "huge impact in soccer, SPEED AND QUICKNESS" it will tell you all about my plans for this year, trials and all that. ;)
are you planning to go on some try-outs too?
buzzer555 29-03-2004, 10:57:AM The only tricks I can pull off successfully are stepovers and spins. I practice nearly everyday.
STML1 29-03-2004, 11:16:AM I only know basketball tricks I'm useless at soccer :$
eddy_87 29-03-2004, 01:03:PM nutmeg and back flip over defenders head....
i'm actually really poor in stepovers :$
buzzer555 29-03-2004, 01:57:PM My stepovers used to be bad. It was so slow and unconvincing.:(
But I've been practicing everyday now and used my skill ball for indoor training. My stepovers are fast now. That's good.:)
HellsideUltras 29-03-2004, 10:12:PM i just learned the elastico(the trick that ronaldinho does all the time) havent tried it in a game yet though
garlei 29-03-2004, 10:45:PM perfect your feints. Try to make your feints (shooting feints, running feints, passing feints) as real as possible. Feints are very effective when used probably and the practise from the movement will help you with your other tricks.

Eheh, you can apply to FC Porto anytime you want, mate. So yeah, I can take a joke. :)
----------------------------------
I can do most tricks you see on tv ads, including the complete Ronaldinho repertoire (nutmeg. I'm thinking of doing a little vid and posting it here. I even made up a great feint called 'The 360º'. It does work and I got it from bball (since I'm a bb player too). :)
But honestly, I think that's all crap and you shouldn't waste your time with those tricks. I can do them bcs I got great ball control skills. Word of advice: watch Zizou instead of Cristiano and Ronaldinho. ;)
bbranco10 30-03-2004, 01:42:AM Good advice Infesta. Post the vid.
Zlatan 30-03-2004, 01:50:AM I did Zidane's tip-top when he was a young kid :)
Sanel 30-03-2004, 01:55:AM im sure that tricks help you in soccer, first you get incredible ball control where in the worst situation (if you have some brain) you will be successful, and second it helps you to free yourself from a defender into some free space. but also dont waste too much time on the tricks, try to perfect your crosses if your a midfielder, on those clearing headers and long passes if your a defender, and on shooting and heading if your a forward.
buzzer555 30-03-2004, 02:00:AM You just have to know how to balance it out.
mark77 30-03-2004, 02:11:AM I do the nutmeg, 360° spin a la Zidane and feints.
gagiz 30-03-2004, 02:52:AM Roll overs, spins, nutmegs, and the trick when you tap the ball at one side of the player then chase it by going on the otherside. My stepovers are too slow so i cant fool anyone.:crazyboy:
santino 30-03-2004, 03:08:AM I just learned a new trick, go to i do a stepover, pull it back, then while the ball is rolling i step on the ball with my right foot, then backheel with my left, I made my buddy look like an idiot today infront of everybody, I was proud, lol.......this is confusing to explain, so think of a stepover, then a the move cassano did against roque-junior when Roma played Siena a few weeks back, www.coolioz.com has the video

I watch every football that's on bud, I watch Zizou, Totti, everyone. Zinedine does tricks yes but, doesnt specialise in them, he does 'moves' to cleverly beat opponents I think anyway. Ronaldinho is a genius, I think he'll be the best player in the world definately by 2006, he's brilliant, So lol I watch both and Cristiano, I like seeing Cris because he's progressing and varies his moves! Thanks for the tips guys!
N the lad who said he can do the elastico, film it bud, would be superb if we could see it!

wahey I was at that match! :D(Y)
oh and guess who nutmegged amdys maw last nite.. (H)
i can do backflips btw lol :crazyboy:
Knight Saber 30-03-2004, 05:13:PM Well, I got one good move (I think) that I do when recieving the ball. If I need to change direction, I run directly at the spot that the ball is going, then just as it reaches me, I step on it, spin 270 in either direction, using both feet to keep the ball with me and then continue on at full speed, works well as well if the ball is behind you but you wanna keep running.
Also, another one I can do that works rather well, is, when running at full speed on the wings and I have a player come challenge me, I slow down slightly go to do a step over then knock it on with my right and continue running, which confuses ppl big time, and it also allows me if the need be to pass it off instead.
And one last one, I can go the length of the pitch keeping the ball in the air and flicking it over ppl 'n heading it on 'n stuff.:rockman:
Hope all that made sense, but it's pretty useless since I'm a keeper...
ogsimon 30-03-2004, 07:34:PM i do most tricks but my specialised one is elastico, it works every time.
oh yeah and this one ive been using since a kid, its comes naturally. knock the ball about 15 yards ahead of you and outpace your opponent;)
HellsideUltras 30-03-2004, 09:17:PM i do this trick all the time where the ball is on the ground at my feet and i just stand there and let my opponent come closer then i put my right foot underneath the ball and flick it over the players head (its not the rainbow trick either) and control it when its behind him, always work!! unless you flick the ball straight up in the air and not over his head, which rarely happens to me though, only when i rush the trick:mrpimp:
HellsideUltras 30-03-2004, 09:22:PM http://voetbaltruc.nl/en/index.html :rockman: tricks and lots of tricks:p
Amdy Faye 30-03-2004, 09:51:PM Thanks!
I sooo wanna see someone from SG do elastico though! It's hard but achievable, I can do it like every 20 tries!

same.I like to catch the ball on the side of my foot, let it roll...
and when its me on a defender and no one else i push it past him on one side and run round him on the other side
