nice... Del Piero and Oktay?
How did you do in the Premiership, btw?

Now, in my game, it's the year of 1932, and I am managing Colwyn Bay (a welsh club) in english 3rd division... I started with them in conference, got some great players from free-transfer list (some great players) and breathed pretty easy in the past 3 years... Before I managed Flixton (called Enfield, but I changed the name to Flixton) and got them champions of Premiership and Champions' league a couple of times... I never bought any players for bi prices, used my talents, but when it all got very boring (was very hard without big signings, altough I had about 300 million saved) and I "retired" in 1924 and let the comp. simulate 5 years until I came back and took Colwyn Bay... Guess what? I was not let to play in English 3rd after finishing first in Conference because I did not have money to build the stadium... Anyways, I got promoted a year after and now going 3nd in 3rd division..

GUESS WHAT. Manu got relegated to conference and 2nd conference until they came back to conference in 2 years and now they are in 3rd division http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif They got relegated from Premeirship in about 2012, and now is 2032 http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif they won the premiership in 2005, btw.. if you need the screenshot, i can give you one...

PS. Portsmouth, in one of my previous games once won the Premiership in 2005... It was like: 2000 - Manu, 2001 - Manu, 2002 - Manu, 2003 - Manu, 2004 - Manu, 2005 - Portsmouth, 2006 - Manu .................

All the European leagues.

every one of em??????? doesn't that slow your computer down considerably???? maybe not, i don't know, i've never done it...... i usually just go with four or five leagues............. but I am thinking of starting up a game that I will play for a long time, a la up to 2020 or something crazy like that, and I want to have the best leagues possible.

I have 500 mhz, 128 RAM...it goes pretty quickly. The only leagues I have going in the foreground are the ones I'm managing in, the rest are all background.

I'm sure that I won't be doing the same with 00/01, considering it'll have so many more leagues.

sorry if this is a stupid question - but can you switch a league from the background to the foreground so you can manage a team in it?? and how many do u have running in the foreground at the same time?

thanks again!

dsh

Sure, you can switch. All you need to do is look under the job listings for the countries you've got running (foreground or background) and you can apply for the jobs which are available. Or if you want to manage a specific club you can just create a new manager and take control of whatever club you want.

Once you're managing in that league it'll move to the foreground.

Right now I've got two because I started out managing in the Spanish 2nd division but now I'm at Liverpool.

it is very very slow to run all european leagues -- not because of any computer disadvantages, but because of A LOT of matches simulating that you ABSOLUTELY don't need to watch...

In CM 99/00 I usually select English league with Conference... One time I played in Italy with Juveterranova Gela until I won everything... But then my chairman began to ask me to win everything all over again, and it was just impossible as all my players left... So I dumped the game... I also played in Brazil and Norway.... But the English leagues are the ones that are worthy to play in..

In CM 00/01 I will be playing.... in guess what league? http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

thanks for the feedback guys, I've usually only played the English league and that's about it.........

and RR I've got a feeling you'll be playin the Russian League eh?!?! And guess what league I'll be playing in???? http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

Yep, good guess.... That was easy...

You'll be playing the English leagues probably, because the Polish one is not included, the Canadian one does not exist (only in some amateur US soccer leagues there's is Vancouver), and you should hate the MLS like verybody in here...

So, there is not much to guess...

Legia Manchester

actually, I am pretty sure that the Polish league will be included in cm00/01...... I read a review and it said that the Polish league would be added. It better be!!!

actually, i have another question...... have any of you guys ever man-marked the goalkeeper with one of your strikers??? I wonder if this tactic would really work somehow???

dsh
23-10-2000, 01:59:AM
Hahaha

If anything it would probably just cause a lot of offsides. You could give it a shot though!

a_shearer09

Only man-mark the keeper with a centre-striker. It does create many offsides, but it is SUPPOSED to also create more chances.

I personally don't see it in my game.

Wait a second!!!!!!!!!!!!! What the hell is foreground and background leagues? I just took over ac milan and thats it. What happens if you have leagues in the background etc..???? And how do you do that?

PS: It really works for me to man mark the keeper. You get some offsides but a lot f goals too.

You can set other leagues to be playing in the background. The match reports and statistics won't be available to look at if they're background leagues, but it will make the game more realistic.

You set it at the beginning of the game, when you first create a manager. You can choose the league you want to manage in as the foreground league, then name a few others for foreground or background, whichever you prefer.

Ok thanks dsh. Can I still do that in the middle of the season? Also, How do you manage a team that is non league and how can you build their stadium? thaks a lot.

Legia Manchester
23-10-2000, 04:53:AM
yeah, I've never actually tried that tactic... maybe I'll give it a shot!

on another note, I just started up a new game as England manager to see how I would do, you know with all the crap happening with Keegan et al.... well, I finished third at Euro (beat Italy 2-0 for third).... but the weird thing is, group 2 was Italy, Turkey, Sweden and Belgium...... exactly like it was in Euro2000!!! Even weirder, IMO, Ireland won the bloody thing!!! (I am so ashamed, they finished second in my group, I beat them 1-0, and then they go on and win it! Arrghhhh!!)

You can change clubs or leagues in the middle of the season but I don't think you can switch to a league which isn't set as foreground or background. ie, if Serie A was set as a fore/background league you can begin managing a club there, but if you want to manage in Scotland and it wasn't set as foreground or background, I don't believe you can.

I might be wrong though, you should give it a try. I always have the European leagues set as background so I've never had trouble switching.

As for building a stadium, you need to make a board request. You can manage a non-league club by choosing it at the beginning or whenever you feel like it. If you're in the middle of a game and decide you want to switch to an English Conference club, for instance, you can either find one that is without a manager or create a new manager to take over there.

Fotbalguy: you have to wait a year for a non-league club to promote, and then take over them. I LOVE to do that in Conference -- I took over Colwyn Bay not a while ago and built the whole team myslef.

About stadiums -- it depends on the money you have, on the resources your chairman has and on how you promote to the divisions up -- to promote to 3rd Division from conference, your stadium has to be at least 6,000 capacity. They will not let you in if you don't have 6,000 (like it happened to me), and usually teams with capacities lower than 6,000 build their stadium dring the off-season in summer.

There is also a requirement for the Premier League.

And, of course, you can cheat, by giving yourself a good capacity with an editor... I don't recommend that, though..

Yeah, I did that managing England thing too Manchester. Only I finished 2nd, and in my group Sweden and I got through, but France was left behind! It was magnificent. I lost to Italy 1-0 in the Final. I think I could have won if I had all my players. F*CKING INJURIES!!! I started Phillips and Owen up front, Kev for power, Owen for skill. Both got injured. Then, Fowler out, and Cole out. I had Jeffers and Smith in the first team!! Macca was injured too, and halfway through the tourny, Beckham was injured. Sol Campbell was injured for the entire tourny, and I had at least one defender suspended each game. Ferdinand, Woodgate, etc. What tough times. I just quit the job and took over PSG who had bought Boghossian and Saviola in 99. Damn, the job of an international manager is tough!
