Sergei Rebrov to Fenerbahce.

yea its true i got the info right here from soccernet.com

Sergei Rebrov's Tottenham nightmare seems to be over at last after the London club agreed terms with Fenerbahce on an 18-month loan move.

The Ukraine striker will fly out to Turkey today to complete the deal, which comes with an option for the Istanbul club to complete a full transfer after the loan comes to an end in 2004.

A statement from Fenerbahce confirmed: 'An agreement has been made with Tottenham Hotspur for Sergei Rebrov.

'Rebrov will be on loan for one-and-a-half years with an option to sign him on a permanent deal at the end of the loan period.'

Rebrov, 28, cost Tottenham a club-record £11million when he joined from Dynamo Kiev in the summer of 2000.

He netted nine league goals in his first season under George Graham, but his career has nose-dived with just one goal last term and no appearances in Glenn Hoddle's first-team squad this season.

Rebrov's reputation was forged in his partnership with Andrei Shevchenko when the pair coupled up in attack at Dynamo and in the Ukrainian national team.

He was close to joining Spurs' London rovals Fulham, but withdrew from a proposed move fearing that his first-team opportunities would again be limited.

It was thought that any hope of an agreement with Fenerbahce had collapsed earlier this week, but with the deal back on the Turks' interest in Ipswich Town's Nigerian internation Finidi George as a back-up is destined to end.

do u guys think this is a good thing for fener??
post any opinions if u wish to

I think it's a great transfer for Fenerbahçe.I remember the times he played in dynamo kiev with shevchenko. He's so fast and creative with the ball. He's also a great finisher of the ball.I think he wasnt given enough chance in tottenham.

Sergei Rebrov is a talented player who was wasted at Spurs. He went in with a big reputation due to his success alongside Shevchenko and too much was expected of him.

He found it difficult playing for a side who are lacking in attacking flair when under George Graham and also alongside strikers who are markedly inferior to Shevchenko.

The move had to happen sooner or later. Fenerbahce is as good as any.

How come an 18 month loan move? Why not just until the end of the season and then maybe a permanent transfer?

Sounds unusual.

18 months though should give him more than enough time to settle in and find the form he showed at Dynamo Kiev.

Sergei Rebrov will have number 10 in fenerbahçe.I thought It would be given to Ortega after revivo went to gala.I wonder if Rebrov deserves number 10.

Apparently Rebrov has past his fitness test so it's almost certain that he'll be playing in Turkey soon.

But they do this every year, I mean every year they spend 10 times more than Gala does on players, than at the end they start critisizing their stars just like what happened to Revivo... Every year excellent deals great stars, and they say we got our dream team ready and we will win the CL cup but I guess not even in their dreams..

Rebrov is not going to cost a lot so it's not a big risk.

Canadian_Turk, you're right for past few years. But this year, Fenerbahçe has totally changed their transfer strategy. They still buy stars but they also buy young players from u-21 Turkish national team, which I think is one of the best teams in the world.Like tuncay, semih, erhan, volkan and Kemal. If you're interested in Turkish super league, than you know these players are very good players and the stars of future.Just like what gala did 1996.You remember? Terim got all the young players to gala and they were successful.Fenerbahçe's gonna be a great team with stars and young players.
