The Wolf FM2005 Option File BETA8

The Wolf 2005 Option File BETA8
http://www.fcchampionz.com/TheWolfFM2005BETA8.rar

I have converted all stats to FM2005 stats with the exception of approx. 50 players (free agents and young B-Team players mostly) in the game who were not in the FM database.

I understand that some people may not agree with the new stats but the FM database is widely respected across the world as the most accurate available. If your favourite player(s) have stats you are not happy with you can always change them back to the default values using the in-game editor.

The stats have mainly changed the mediocre players in real life to mediocre in the game as opposed to the good/very good ratings they previously had in the game. With the default Konami database there was very little difference between the best/fastest/most skilled players in the game and the majority of the other players. The FM stats give a more accurate representation of the differences without turning superstars into supermen.

I have updated the transfers (to Jan 22 2005) from:
http://www.evo-web.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=19059
http://www.footballtransfers.co.uk/index.asp

There are a number of players who were not in the game who I have not yet created and added to the squads because there may literally be hundreds of players needing to be created by the end of the January transfer window but there are only so many free slots available so I am not creating players that have little/no chance of playing first team soccer by the end of the season yet. At the end of the transfer window I will create more players to fill the slots with the preference towards the better players.

I have started to allocate the correct shoes (or at least the correct brand where possible) to players in the game but I'm only about 10% of the way through. These are allocated with reference to the shoe pack included with the 2005 patch which included many different brands of shoe rather than 3 different colors of the F50+ or other shoes like many other packs. This will be completed by the end of the transfer window. I've been using this guide:
http://www.evo-web.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=7937

What I need are corrections to:
- Squad numbers (some of the transfers have not yet been allocated squad numbers that I could find but you may know them). Also national squad numbers need updating for many teams.
- Starting line-ups for any team in the game including national teams. Please post in a format easy to follow or else I cannot implement it. Obviously if a need for formation change is required, please include it.
- Transfers I've missed. Retirements, free agents, etc.
- Appearance data. Please post what changes need to be made to players (hair, face etc.) and I'll make the changes for the final release.
- Incorrect player name spellings.

PLEASE REMEMBER that if you view squads using the in-game 'Edit Player' feature, THE SQUADS & DATA will not look correct. The in-game 'Edit Player' feature does not reflect many changes made to the game but instead reads the default database. If you post in this thread saying things like "Rooney's at Everton" then you will enter the Hall Of Shame below because this bug with the in-game editor has been with us for almost 18 months now.

I'll try to make all changes posted here (as long as they're correct). PLEASE DO NOT POST PERSONAL OPINIONS WHICH HAVE NO BASIS IN FACT such as who you think should start for your team but in reality rarely does or else it'll be another trip to the Hall of Shame. This option file is for the Konami community to have the most accurate option file possible, not for you to glorify your team/favourite player in direct conflict with reality.

The final option file will come with a mini-patch so that you may use it online and with your Masters League (assuming you start a new league with the new option file). A number of leagues will be using this new option file as the default option file for their league so it's in everybody's interest to get this as accurate as we can.

All changes need to be posted by Jan 31st to be included. Posting after this date will not help as one of my projects has not been time-travel.

Many thanks
The Wolf

Hm... excellent work Wolf.
Players like Carlos Alberto, or Derlei, or Bugnet (not Bugner), who were in teams present in PES4, and were moved to a non-ingame team, will they be removed/replaced by another ones?

I'll try to overwrite the empty slots, non-real players and minor players released/at non-PES4 clubs first before I overwrite any major/talented players as they still have a use in the Masters League.

Yes.

Note: Please check rather than asking. This thread is supposed to be for amendments not features.

to Wolf, thx for taking the time to fix the stats. Some of them I really like, but I disagree with CM2005 on some of them, like Beckham's long pass and free kick acc. should be alot higher and Lampard's stats should be better too. But my question is how to get ur new stats into Master League? I've been trying to play ML for a while now but i dont like the default stats that it always goes back to. Do you know how to change the ML stats into the edited ones? Thx.

great work and this is nothing against the work you have done and are still doing..

But do you not think in general that the stats in these games 2005/CM favour the teams from the "BIG" leagues the ones that get the most coverage?

Ah, every game is like this.
As you see Real Madrid... they're always better than they really are.
But, as he said, FM/CM Database is widely respected as very accurate.

I've noted that a lot of top strikers like Totti and Cassano have D-line and sliding abilities, whereas top defenders like Nesta and Cannavaro have not. They have striker abilities, though, like 1-1 scoring.
This is a bit weird, and I guess that there is some problem with the EditPES4's converter. Otherwise, I like it a lot.

excellent stuff, Wolf!

a few small things I've noticed.. Have just been looking through a few EPL teams, lots of players now have lots of positions they could play in, which is great. But there's a bug somewhere.. e.g. in Man Utd, how come Jone (who, I guess, btw, should have a first name attached to him to avoid confusion) has CMF as preferred position, but it doesn't show in the middle of the screen (only has SB, DMF and SMF). Can you fix this??

And, sorry to moan about Fulham again. But here goes..
1. Van der Sar seems to be playing regularly for the team again.
2. Some of the younger players have REALLY low stats, and their graphs look liike a tiny circle... I guess these are what the CM/FM stats say?
3. really important that Rosenior is included. He's been starting a few EPL games now. Also featured in EPL matches a few times are: Fontaine (he started in the Carling Cup game a few days back), and Timlin. Please try and include all 3 if you could..

Many thanks, keep it up!

I think sliding is more relating to timing and getting on the end of a ball to direct it rather than tackling ability at least in the way the stats are used in the game.

If you think about it, a lot of the younger players on teams get loaned out to 2nd and 3rd division clubs and although they often do a good job, they aren't a patch on the first team regulars. I think FM/CM does a good job of actually making it a big deal if you have to play a reserve player because in real life, more often than not, they won't perform to the standards of the regular player and can have the effect of weakening the team significantly. Even Man Utd reserves who everybody jokes about being an EPL team in themselves couldn't take Exeter apart in the FA Cup. There's often a big difference between reserves and first-teamers and I think it's good this is a little more pronounced now.

If you look at Beckham's free kick to goal scoring ratio it really isn't that high. If it was any higher, you risk being able to score too frequently to be realistic. There's a good chance you can get it on target almost everytime but not score more than he realistically would.

I think the stats for Lampard were set to take into account he still has a lot of growth potential yet in a number of areas. He does have very on and off games and isn't a constant like Gerrard yet who again is given room for further development.
