Thumbs up I'm taking up 3D Studio Max

After I've completed learning all the basics of Photoshop, of which I'm almost, I'm moving on to 3D Studio Max. My uncle is a pro in that, so he can help me. He even made a movie with me getting chased by a 3D dinosaur around the house!!!! Any suggestions on where I could learn the basics of 3dsmax?

Hmm...Iceblu would probably be a good person to direct this question to, I know he's been using that program for a while....I've only played around with it a few times myself, but I imagine practicing with some tut's would be a good place to start learning the basics, books are also a good way to learn anything, if you have the patience that is...

hmmm......i did a course at a university last summer.....

believe me....ITS HARD.....

needs lot of practice.....and lot of patience and lot of imagination.

It has NO limits....no guidelines and no fixed set of rules.....

its just fun to mix and match and try different things...

i love the bones and stuff.......i made a shark animation once

the very first thing i made was an Apple

Well I'm not going into animations just yet. I'm sticking to still images for now.

I think MAX is a good thing to get into, it's not too intimidating to new users but it's still got an endless feature list. If you're looking for good MAX tutorials, I suggest http://www.3dluvr.com . I did this lava ball from one of the tutorials on one of the 'Users' areas:

It's not too hard if you spend a lot of time on it, though I'd say that lighting and texturing are the two hardest aspects.
My current MAX installation is about 440Mb, but that's with sample scenes and stuff installed.

man, that is so good! It's nice to see someone who actually makes "something" with 3d Max, unlike that over done abstract stuff a lot of people seem to make these days with that program...
