Why Is This ?

Why does it seem half the jersey's in FIFA 2000 don't allow the use of the third color?

I seem to be running into this much more than I did in FIFA 99.

Why have three colors if you can't use them all on ALL the jerseys?

Has anyone come up with a list yet of which jerseys support three colors and which support only two?

If not, this is YOUR homework for the upcoming weekend.

What you do is take a three colour jersey from the game copy it, edit, and save it as another one like pk052.fsh, this way you will be able to use three colours. But I have no clue why most of the jerseys are only two colours. I bet someone will make a patch that will make them all three colour. If nobody will do this I will.

Yes, you're right that is an option. But then, everyone in the game that had that jersey set at let's say pk020.fsh will need to be changed to the new jersey number. A rather pain in the ass if you ask me.

What I mean is that you should rename your jersey to one that doesn't exist. Like pk054.fsh isn't used so you can name it that. Then you get a program that changes the jersey number for that team. It only goes to fifty three in the game but when I release my little program you can use up to sixty four. That way you don't have to change any of the other teams that use that jersey because nothing else is using it.

Paul, that sounds cool. Why don't you make it higher, like 80 or something?

Becaue 64 is the limit EA has allowed for some reason. OK, I understand Paul. Of course that's if jerseys 51-64 are three color jerseys.

You are right, there are 53 jersey files in the game but without an editor you can only access 1 thru 50.

I already replaced jersy number 51 and you can see it in the team edit screen, but every time you go to the game, the team is wearing jersey number 50.

This is really stupid, I have talked to Chau Le who has talked to EAC about changing the format from seven to eight bit. They haven't done so for this year. The numbering is done in hex, there are 256 in each character like FF=256, but 0101=257. That uses two spots. Now it only allows one slot. The hex value also goes by four. So if you divide 256 by 4 you will get sixty four. Thus sixty four jerseys.

Oh, the 51-53 jerseys are extra jerseys probably not intended to be in the game and were not in the count (1-50).

On Friday I will release the final version of that jersey selector. But I will send out pre-release versions of the program Wed. since I have no school for the rest of this week (Thanksgiving in the US).
