Whats the difference?

Ok, this is my story: I've always played FIFA every since I fell in love with it after seeing RTWC in a store display. Sadly, FIFA has been deteriorating over the past few years, which was ever so apparent to me when FIFA 2000 came out.

So when I first played ISS on my friends N64, I thought, "wow, what a cool game." I then began to research to see if there were any newer versions for this game, and of course, found plenty. The sad sad sad sad thing is that I don't own a PS2, a Gamecube, an Xbox, or ANY console... only a PC.

So Ive tried emulators, because I am so desperate for a good soccer game. Its a shame the PS2 cannot be emulated, but the psx suits me fine, because PES on the PSX is still better than FIFA, in my opinion. So my problem is: what is the difference between PES 2 (Pro Evolution Soccer 2), and ISS PE 2 (ISS Pro Evolution 2)????

The PES 2 has an intro with the song "we will rock you" (which is SWEET!), and the other one has an intro with some dudes training and shooting and stuff, they actually seem a little bit similar. I know these are probably old games, but they are still so much better to me than FIFA. Please, if anyone can clarify, I dont understand any of this. And if someone answers, could you also just tell me what the difference is between PES, ISS, WE, World Soccer, etc??

I cant wait until this stuff gets ported to the PC (its gonna happen in March, right?).

Basically bud, the latest version of the Konami soccer titles are Pro Evolution Soccer 2 (PES3 in due out in late Fall or Winter) and Winning Eleven 6. The Pro Evolution series predated the Pro Evolution Soccer series and were basically identical to the ISS games.

You can get PES2 to play on the ePSXe emulator or WE 2002 (which unfortunately is in Japanese but you can get a 90% English version). There isn't a lot of difference between the games, I have both and to be honest other than an initial speed difference (which can be altered anyway with the speed slider) there isn't anything in WE 2002 which I'd go out of my way to get when you can get PES2 in full English.

ISS3 will be a kind of Pro Evolution 3. The ISS series has it's critics but like you I loved the game on the N64 and it is way better than FIFA. It's coming out for the PC at the end of March but only in Europe. You can however import/download the game. It should be a decent enough version of the Konami series. ISS2 wasn't as good as PES2 but still a dang good game. ISS3 will be way better.

ISS3 is gonna kick FIFA 2003's butt anyhow. Failing all that in the menatime if you don't have it just get PES2 for the PSX emulator.

Thanks a lot man, you really cleared up some questions i had; I am really looking forward to ISS3, do you happen to know if there is going to be a demo released or anything? Anyway, I am definitely going to get PES2 for the psx emulator in the mean time, and thanks again for your help!

Hmmm you could get PES2 for PSX


OR

You could get Winning Eleven 2002 for PSX which is just as good and you can join an online league.

Not many people play PES2 for PSX while there is a large community for WE2002.
