A B-team can not be in the same division than the A-team.
In your case you dont have this problem bacause your going from 2B to 2nd division.
To promoto from 2B to 2nd you have to win a promotion league.
There are diferent 2B divisions and the first teams of each of them (I don't remember how many but I think the first two clasified teams) advance to different promotion leagues (there's a lottery to decide in which one you go).
There are 4 promotion leagues I think, with 4 teams each. Only the winner of each of this promotion leagues advances to 2nd division.
So that means you can win your 2B league but not get promoted to 2division because the do very bad at the promotion league.
In real live is more difficult to get promoted from 2B to 2nd than to 2nd to la Liga. I havent tried in CM4 yet.

And no need to be 2 division below, it's just that nowadays no B-team is in 2nd division, but they are all trying. Barcelona B was about to last season, but it was 1 point short in the promotion league..
I would like to see the B team in the same league as the first team. It would be fun if Real madrid B win La Liga. It's a shame it can't happen

Not true, in my SCP game my B team was 6th in the Second Division.

For your information, in real world, many years ago, maybe 20 I don't know for sure, there was cup final betwen Real Madrid and Real Madrid B (I think it had a different name then, but it was the second team). Obviously the A team won.
2 years ago, we in holland almost had Ajax vs. Ajax 2 in the final. Ajax 2 reached the semi finals, but got knocked out
