So I edited the database but when I use Squadsconverter and try to convert the database back to a squads file I always get the "No database to convert" error.

Did you place the edited db file back into the converter folder, before trying to convert? Also, you may have to manually search for and load the squads1 file so as to allow the program to recognize it.

Yeah, I was hopeful for a while since the icons changed after manually doing that, but nope. Same error. I even tried using your squads1.db file just to test out if it can convert an unedited db to a squads file. Same error.

Then do this test: remove the db file from the folder. Generate a new db file by clicking on "extract database." Now click on "create squad file" to see if it loads. If it does, and if you do not get that same error, that means the issue is with your db file. If you still get the error, then the converter folder and files are the problem.

Yeah, same error. Even downloaded the converter again so I have a pure "install" . I guess I will have to edit classic player values ingame to 0 after all.

I create the db file, then when I press "create squad file" I get the "No database to convert" error.

That doesn't mean anything because the original converter doesn't work. It has to be adapted to work with 18; the converter files need to be replaced with new ones. And that's when problems can occur, and it's one of the reasons for the "No database to convert" error: the converter can't locate/read the newly added files.
I create the db file, then when I press "create squad file" I get the "No database to convert" error.
That was one of the two things I suggested you check and try. What about the squads1 suggestion?

Yeah I did this as well. I always have the squads1 db file in the same folder as the converter.

Anyway, thanks for the help. It's just not gonna work. I think I'll just do the ingame editing for now.

You're welcome. But what do you mean? It works, and many of us have been editing the db via this method since the game came out. If you're interested in learning how the tools work, I'm happy to help you. But if you're just wanting to give up, that's your call sure.
