The CL and EL mean nothing if Career Mode is broken and gameplay is no good. I'm sure the focus of the tournaments will be FUT related, FUT Champions League.
More stadiums always a plus, more teams and leagues always a plus, licensing of the Serie A is nice too but it would all be for nothing if we only get FUT style gameplay.

They have individual gameplay for Women and the rest of the game, I don't see why they can't add in a true simulation type for Career Mode and the option of the 3 types
for all offline game modes so each individual can select the style of play he would like.

I want slow, building up styles of play and don't mind having play stopped every 90 seconds due to a foul, direct free kick goals in this series are rarer than a Unicorn.

About exclusivity rights.

What i dont understand about exclusivity rights is that a game like Football Manager has most rights for most leagues (not premier league though) and teams in the world. so it cannot be exclusive to EA really. There are other mobile/indie games that have rights too.

Konami doesn't help itself with its wacky naming of teams / players and its horrible 90's interface (thats Japan for you). I think if team names were close, kits were close (together with Live sponsors on the shirt in Manager Mode), players likeness was close (which is achievable through its own editor), then players would play it. That together with some slight gameplay changes and more realistic manager mode and the game is great IMO.

On FIFA

FIFA just needs to add some better AI handling of tactics (i.e. switch tactics mid-game), have some more player individualism, more fouling and some more player weight for it to be pretty spot on as far as im concerned. Perhaps some added stats tracking for Career Mode like NHL / Madden maybe? But thats just little things.

Not just tactics but play in general, there is not enough variety in play. Very similar to how you explained PES AI scoring. This has to change as it is all too repetitive.
Movement is also an issue EA's "Real Player Motion Technology" seems to consist of Cristiano Ronaldo running the way he does in real life. There is no man who can move, run,
turn and float like they do in the game. "Real Player Motion Technology" is an inaccurate title at best.

So, to conclude this discussion with fifa on 4k displays, I went today to a friend which posseses a pc built arround a gtx 1080 with my new 4k monitor and tested fifa in all possible ways.
Results are like this:
-default fifa with no graphic enhacements like fidel's for example works very good, no issues, high fps constantly;
-modded fifa, with ultrahigh graphic settings made by modders aproaches the top possibilities of the gtx 1080, even with slight drop in fps during cutscenes, but overall still looks great;
This tells me that if someone wants to play in 4k today's games it better waits for the new gpu release from Nvidia because 1080 is already reached it's possibilities, I repeat, in 4k resolutions, and will not deliver performance for much longer, with the games advancing.
Ofcourse, I tested other, more demanding games on 4k and what I said above is clear, in far cry 5, very high settings made the gpu breath heavily.
I did not tested these games on a 1080 ti since I don't know anybody who have one but I believe the price for that is stupidly high and there is no chance in this millenium a gamer will pay that ammount of money with one or two month to a new gpu release.
If anyone made other tests and has results, please do tell.

This is good info and it confirms what I've seen. I bought a 4K monitor last fall and hooked it up to my GTX 1060. I was shocked at the lousy performance. I know resolutions affect frame-rate, but that was a complete surprise, like going back to my GT 440 laptop.

Tried the monitor for about two more minutes, then unhooked it and took it back the next day. Decided I won't be 4K gaming this decade period because I ain't buying another card for at least 3 more years.

EA, do NOT add VAR to the game. Completely ruined this WC for me. Stupid stupid technology. When will humans learn to leave well enough alone?

Imagine if they added it, and then implemented it like MLB The Show implements stupid stupid random balls and strikes calls. Random VAR handball calls -- this time no, next time penalty -- I'd tear my f'ing hair out.

You have a 1060, but I have a 760 so imagine that if I go near with that 4k monitor, my pc will instantly grow hands and punch me in the face and throw me out the window along with the monitor.:alex:
VAR....well, in real life has some benefits, like in that Champions League semifinal Real Madris versus Juventus, with that penalty totally wrong awarded to Real....it changed the fate of the entire competition and many more examples. In the game of fifa, indeed, it would be absolutely pointless since it's a computer game and the right decisions are always being made. Also pointless to annoying is that transfer negociation cutscene, with no sound. I watched it once out of curiosityand that is it. That is exactly what we need, another worthless cutscene introducing VAR in the game.

Yes, yes, and yes. Exactly.

My theory for this which I see clearly every time I watch an interview with the devs of EA Sports titles is that the people with influence on how the games are made and play no longer know anything about sports. I don't mean, they know the rules and love using their Dodgers hat as an accesory for their 'game dev look', I mean being able to sit and have intelligent conversations about the strategy and physics of sport and the leading teams in the world. There was more intent to replicate real life even in 16-bit Genesis cartridges and CD-ROM era than today. What they aimed for was some semblance of how [insert sport here] feels. And hampered by graphics limitations for all those years, they thrived in an environment where showing you were aiming for realistic play was all that set you apart from the other sprite or polygon graphics teams. You HAD to know your stuff. Go back and look at the copy on the game packaging back then: "real size stadiums" "ice that has friction" "players that perform like their real life counterparts" etc etc. I'm paraphrasing of course. But you add more complex variables, and like most things in life, you complicate things more than necessary. All of us who buy the game, play it alone, run our careers or tournaments give our money once and that's that. FUT players interact, some make microtransactions, and most share content to online services where EA's network-connected partners get usage data and valuable consumer info of everything else each connected player does online from Amazon to Youtube via their console and computer stats. If Facebook's connected you may as well give EA and all their partners a DNA sample. That's why they don't cater the game to us. We don't matter. But why NOT provide the simple game play you already once invented? Because "making a good game" isn't what they care about. If running around with stick figures that moved like Action Figures being held by children made money, you can bet every EA Sports game would look like that. And if you made that "cool", you'd make even more money because that's what people want more than even happiness: to be in the know and accepted and to do what everyone else is doing. It's why and how marketing exists.

The other option which I only know from talking to friends who work in the industry is that they're so deluded from years of working for a machine that only wants to spit out high and fast turnover products with repeat microtransaction interactions that they've just given up on "it's in the game" philosophy. You get to a point where you just go, "screw it, I'm not gonna bring up again in this meeting the fact that 5'7 and 6'3 guys don't stop the same when they're running. I give up."

The upside to all this depressing human psychology crap that will never change, is that they HAVE released games that are a good base and the community has figured out how to modify them. So, I was able to give up NHL years ago because PC versions of NHL and updated console rosters for 2K keep being modified. And likewise, we have a handful of FIFA games that play great with a few dedicated and clever people's modifications. Tweaks to the game's files by certain people here have made FIFA18 a game I almost would have paid twice the money for. 19 is gonna have to be amazingly different for me to bother and that's the first time I've said that about the series.

Talking about new leagues...
Untill now, we know that probably won't have the russian league anymore so that's one important league gone.
Also there is no announcment of a new league introduction which mean that we will be poorer in quantity.
However we'll have serie A and european cups licensed that in the essence being a visual upgrade only....
I hope at least to be done something regarding the brazilian league. What is in fifa 18 cannot be called a league it just a pes like generic competition.

Who wants to bet that those heralded gameplay changes in fifa 19 like fluid motion, first touch and others will dissapoint 90% of users (FUT addicts excluded) plus that the updates will destroy anything good left after the launch day.
I'm saying that in the hope that I'll exclaim in that launch day "this is the best fifa game yet by far, I was wrong to criticise EA"!!! (yeah, right)
As they say, expect the worse, hope for the best.

Since EA hasn‘t said anything yet regarding the career mode, I can’t tell if I’m going to buy the game or not. Maybe they will reveal something big during the Gamescom? Fingers crossed and hope set. It’s a bit suspicious that they didn’t say anything about it yet, isn’t it? :p

To the gameplay: I actually don’t know why so many people dislike the gameplay of FIFA 17 & 18. It isn’t good, that’s for sure but there are a lot of gameplay modifications in the web you can find and download, which can have tremendous impact and can change the gameplay a lot. And you could start playing with the manual control. Trust me, once you get used to it you can create a lot of chances in various and different ways. :-) I started doing it at the end of my FIFA 17 era. Gameplay got a lot harder and I lost almost every match and from time to time I switched the controls back to the default but I always tried again. Right now, I am playing with the manual control for almost 2 months straight. And it’s fun, it really is. ;-)

I am pretty sure a lot of the advertised gameplay features like “First Touch Control” won’t have much impact. But, and I don’t know why, I’m looking forward to the “Timed Shooting Feature”. First: You’re not forced to use it, which is great and second: I got the feeling that, once you’ve “mastered” that feature, you can score a lot more “rememberable” goals in your career(s).

Best regards!

As far as I remember reading somewhere. We are waiting for Gamescom to find out more. I am waiting to see if this tactics thing actually works before i buy.

PES 2019 comes out in a few, will check that out too. They are always improving, pity they don't improve the Manager Mode much!

Would be nice to have some 4th kits at least for the top teams. If EA has the license for them, why not adding alternate kits or other specific graphics like dressing or adboards? (in case of premier league teams, they do have static adboards, just not very real, all spammed with fifa 18 inscription).
That what puzzled me for some years now...

Looks like 'Ultimate' difficulty (or at least one level above 'Legendary') will be in FIFA 19 Career Mode:

Does anybody know if the possible added Mercedes Benz Stadium will be that in Atlanta or Stuttgart?
I really hope is the Stuttgart one, will be more useful.

Should be Atlanta but I hope for Stuttgart.
Probably so...but perhaps EA will surprise us and make all the stadiums for Bundesliga like they did for Primera.
For that alone I would buy anytime the game.
Anyway, we'll have Signal Iduna back and maybe Wolkswagen Arena of Wolfsburg.

By now, I believe everyone saw the launch of the new nvidia gpu.
Although I did not wanted to believe, the average gamer was hit with cryptocurrency gold rush prices, meaning from 700 dollars up for a RTX 2080 and all this for that ray tracing bullshit that isn't even used still by games and same 8 GB DDR6 instead but overall, not a big upgrade from last generation. (not to mention 1000 dollars min. for the titanium).
Well, good luck to us, the gamers.
