It touches me closely if I can use this phrase ... When I was a child here in Sardinia, in the summer, hundreds of Ukrainian children came to enjoy the sun and clean air. It was part of a post-Chernobyl health project. For years until 1996 I played, without speaking the same language, with dozens of Ukrainian children. We played football, leafed through magazines and comics and tried to teach them swear words in both Italian and Sardinian. Now it hurts me to know that those children who are 36-40 years old today are at war, they are soldiers. I don't know anything about them anymore, I didn't even know their surnames. For me they were Oleg, Ruslan, Valery ... Now in my city we are welcoming children, orphans, displaced from Ukraine. My heart is crying and I am terrified at the very thought that some of those children could be the children of Oleg, Ruslan or Valery ... Even if they probably don't remember me anymore, I have never forgotten them ...

I'm not in a combat zone at the moment, but very often there are air raids, enemy military aircraft fly. Things are worse with my relatives, they are in one of the hottest spots without water, food, money, hiding in the basement of the school. And I can’t help them in any way, it just kills me morally.
