can you do the double tap on the pc?
like when you have a free kick from about anywhere, as long as you hit the goal you can shoot (double tap) from 80 yards and score?
Is that a glitch on all systems?
What about the chest-over-the-keeper-trap?

Yeah, you can score by hitting it in off the crossbar on free kicks. I do it all the time. It usually happens on free kicks that are within 5 yards of the edge of the box, and normally off to the left side (goal is on the right side). Using a right-footed player, place the spin meter down and to the right on the ball, and place the target reticle as close to the bar as you can. Then it's relaly just luck. But I've done it at least 15 times, mostly with Michael Owen. I've also pulled it off with Thierry Henry a few times. It's a pretty cool way to score.

Off the subject, I could use some help on crosses. I'm playing on the PC and I'm using the keyboard. my crosses are always too long and don't have a chance of going in, or when they are placed nicely, get put out by the defense. I still haven't scored on one, heh. All my scoring seems to come from drving the ball to the line and dropping it to the pk spot, or breaking through with a striker and putting it in.

Yoda: Send your striker running towards the goal before crossing. Then aim towards the player and just tap the cross button. The ball should fly to the striker near the net and it's usually pretty easy to score from a cross like this.

XBox Vs Pc

I have been browsing through the Tips and Tricks section and it seems like in the PC version there is a Trick button which is responsible for all those tricks featured here in the forums. However, I own the XBox version and there isn't any Trick button. Instead there is the EA Freestyle controller which is used for Knockons, and can be used occasionally to produce some tricks.

Do anyone know how exactly can you reproduce those tricks stated in the PC version using the right controller on the XBox?

PS. The manual is absolutely crap and doesn't tell you anything at all about the Freestyle controls :f***

I haven't played the xbox-version of FIFA but I think you hold the sprint button while trying to use the freestyle. Then the player will only push the ball forward. But try without the sprint.

If says in the manual that you produce a knock-on or lay-off (what is a lay off anyhow?) if you push the right controller (XBox version) either forward, diagonal forward left or right. Does anything happen if you push it left or right or back? I don't find any other different thing happen (regardless of whether you are close to another player or not, the same shimmying occurs). Does anyone knows differently?

few tips

when recieving a corner, and it usually gets headered in, heres how to prevent. dont press anything until you are sure what the opposition will do. if they header it and you dont press anything, your keeper will save it.

when taking a corner you can score with an overhead. just aim for person nearest to penlty spot, and take it with the lob button, the hold r1 and continually press lob towards the goal. takes time to get used to.

Thanks for the tips mate! I am just getting used FIFA2003 at the moment on the XBox. Been playing it for a couple of weeks now on Amateur settings and finding it abit easy to score goals. However on Semi-Pro the keeper seems to be saving everything and the marking of the opposition is superb! My through ball is always intercepted by the oppositions and my players don't seem to run the way I want to to run when playing a through ball.

Are there any tips on fooling the opposition, getting headers in before the opponents, doing a perfect through ball with lobs etc and scoring goals outside the box?

The few goals that I have scored on this level seems to only be very close to the keeper.

Please help a rubbish person to get good at playing this great game!!

Yep, I have done it.. It's all about patience..

if you are playing on 'world class' mode, the dribblin is very hard cuz the defenders are quick to cut u down, so i depend on running and shoving them off with speed and twisting my body while running. and the run pass is very effective too...i hope they bring back the good dribbles back cuz ths freestyle is a joke to me

I would try to score with my goalkeeper on world class since I've dribbled past everyone with my center mid from the midline and scored, but since most goakeepers have like 1-3 in shooting (kahn has 3), even when u dribble past everyone and the opponent keeper comes out and u press shoot ur guys shoots it right outside of the goal. once he kicked it sideways and made it a throw in =p. So yeah, I have the dribbling skills, but it takes ages just to get that goal.

For those who can't score on PC corners:

It might be possible. I'm not sure, I don't feel like replaying games over and over again just to get how to do it, but if you do, try pressing the s button for a while and when u get the guy to whom the ball is coming use a w in the direction of a goal. I succeeded with my player trying to head it, but never actually scored.
Or, what you can do is, low pass to the guy nearest ur corner, then run around for 1-2 secs for the pathway to midbox to clear and pass to ur player who's standing right in front of the goal and then quickly press d before the dude gets the ball. u won't have much power on it, but it's usually enough from that distance and the goalie doesn't do **** to take it off of you, even in world class. This is very hard to pull off tho.
OR, what you can do is, low pass to the nearest dude and then after like 1 sec pass back to the corner-kicker (beware, sometimes ur dumass players pass it outside of the field) and do a cross. I never scored that way, but I suck at crosses anyway.

Defending from corners:

Don't touch anything, but keep ur hands on the header/keeper charge button. If the ball is coming outside of the box (rare thing, but it does), try to head the ball out, usually works, if not, your goalkeeper should be able to get it, most of the time. If the ball is coming into the box, don't touch anything. If the opponent heads the ball, your keeper will save it. If the opponent heads to your def, just stand there until the mess clears up and then continue on with your game. If he heads it to his own player, press w instantly. It never failed me when I did. It takes some time for the player to trap the ball, then turn, and shoot, and if you do it right in time the goalkeeper will get it. That's like the most fun part of the game, cause it's always so damn close.

Scoring:

I dunno, I never EVER scored on crosses, I dunno **** about em. All I score with is breakaways. And since I beat the game on world class with like the worst team ever, I'm not that bad at breakaways.

First of all, don't use the freestyle button too much. It's good, but especially if your team sucks, when you use it, your player will never gain the stamina back. On a breakaway, usually 1-2 presses of the shiht button is enough. Of course, when you get the ball and the def is right in front of you, all you have to do is turn around and sprint like mad until u get into the box and then jod and shoot when the goalkeeper comes out. Sometimes tho, you have enough time to dribble past the opponent without using the shift button. It's easy enough to lose them. Let the opponent start pushing you, trying to tackle. Then, quickly, turn the exact opposite way (I use down and then up the field), the guy will fall, then you just use regular e-sprint in the direction of the goal and shoot. That's if you're close enough to the box. If you're not, I reccommend a couple of shift-sprints.

If you're more of a dribbling kind of gy, use your mids. The advantage to breaking away with a mid is that even on world class, you can dribble past the opponent defs without being touched at all - they're still holding down ur forwards. What I do is I run around the field in diagonals, down and up. I guy starts shoulder-barging me, I change direction and go on my diagonal again. after a while, I'm close enough to the box and then I just sprint right between the two defs, who r just standing there (you have to be right between them, they WILL tackle you if you're withing their tackle area), jog slowly into the box and slam the ball into the net.

With that, I got hat-tricks for all my non-defenders over like 4 games. Usually 2-3 hattricks a game.

:kader: what awfull tips. how long have you been playing?

i wouldgive you a right royal thrashing just from reading your ameteurish tips.

i only play on two player, so any little ways you find for scoring against the computer, are soon worked by a human. Keeps you on top of your game.

you should try getting your friends into fifa more.

perhaps I'm no good at giving tips. But the fact speaks for itself, I can beat any team with any other team on world class. Of course, if it's like Anyang Cheetahs vs Real Madrid, I'll have some trouble, but I did it, 6-2, I don't think that's too bad of a score.

I haven't played vs real players, since none of my friends like fifa or if they do they can't play it. And my online match up totally doesn't work. EA is too gay to provide any support except for the time when I'm at work and can't contact them. =/

I realise that many of those tricks will completely suck against real players. You would never get past those defs with ur mid if u'r playing against a RL player, neither would simple breakaways work, since RL players are not stupid and don't give you that opportunity a lot. However, it does work against comp, that's what I posted them for.

It's kinda hard to describe what to do in a game like this, I tried my best...
