Today, we bring you fantastic news on the kit making scene. 2GK is coming your way courtesy of joint work by FIFA ECP and Soccer Access.
2GK, short for 2nd Generation Kits, is a new way of making kits. Basically, it increases the size of the kit texture, but keeping the template UV mapping the same. This, in simpler terms, means that the kits in your copy of FIFA 2004 will look sharper and in greater quality.
2GK is into its final beta stages, with 2GK raptor well underway and expected for a simultaneous release on FIFA ECP and Soccer Access in the next days. The first version will include simple importing and exporting features, as well as the other functions in Kit Raptor v1.0. However, further versions are planned, where it will include changing font colours, font size and many more features related to kit database editing.
Of course, this is great news for FIFA fans who download kits, but this is probably even greater news for the community's kit makers where the 2004 template has proved to be disappointing to say the least. However, with 2GK, the template size has been quadrupled (doubling the height and doubling the width)!. This means that the new 2GK size is a whooping 512x1024 pixels, even larger than FIFA 2003 previously!
So, kit makers, get started on the new format and visit us in the next few days to catch more 2GK news!
