Rio Ferdinand FIFA 2005

Essendon BFC

Senior Squad
If his suspension is 8 months and stays that way I dont think he should be in the game. A cricketer got banned for a year Early Last Year and Cricket 2004 has just been released without that player.

He should be grateful he's not a rugby player, a few of them got banned for 18 months for missing drug tests! Remember there was the potential for him being banned for 2 years so he got off very lightly. In the days of mobile phone alarms, personal assistants etc, a player of his stature can have no excuses. And back on topic, no he shouldn't be in the game. As suggested he could be included when his return date comes up.

Exactly, some very good points raised there- what's so special about Ferdinand?

i assume he is appealing the suspension, if it i shortened and even if not, the ban would end at the end around September. So it ups in the air i would guess, but I would not be surprised eitehr way, of course there will people who complain if he is not i it next year.

i could swear machiavellian04 is an arsenal supporter :p

c'mon, he passed the test and still a 8 month suspension!?:kader: just wrong

just because he's suspended doesn't mean he's not in the squad, so probably he'll be in fifa 05... I dunno about the Euro2004 game though....

Rio WILL be in FIFA 2005 because he is a star player and a ban is just a ban and he'll be back. And he wont quite english football because united'll sue him!

A player from Manchester City did the exact same thing and took longer to take the test but he only landed a £2000 fine. I cant understand why they would overlook the facts of his diciplinary record, that Berkovic was with him at the time and Nicky Butts evidence. I dont agree at all with he FA's decision and I think they are getting bullied into it by Sepp Blatter, the same person who reversed the decision to give Oceania direct qualification after he promised that it would stay. He is FIFA President and not FA President Sepp needs to pull his head in.

Hahaha... no not too far away- Chelsea actually mate. Maybe eight months is a tad harsh, but if he gets away with missing the test, it will open the flood gates! I'd say a four month's suspension- and a kick up the arse for being such a prat! ;-) Maybe another for having a face like a box of frogs, and one more for playing for Man Ure.

Come on though- he did take the test 36 hours after he should have done... so on second thoughts, maybe he was lucky with the eight months suspension....

he deserves a ban

what he did is as bad as taking drugs - because certain drugs would not be in his system between the time he was meant to take the test, and the time he did

in this case they consider that he cannot be allowed to escape punishmeny- and he has to be treated as a drug offender

he's lucky it's not more actually

i like him, but he deserves this, and man united need to learn (and other big clubs) that they cannot simply escape bans by taking legal action which is against FIFA regulations and could have severe repercussions for man united.

they could even under the rules have points docked, results changed, and to have them even relegated
