GeForce MX420 FIX solution!

This FIX come trough research, try and Error method of problem solving with the knowledge of myself.
PLEASE, don't cut n paste the information below.,except for your own needs.
Try to RESPECT others HardWork.


I'm sorry if my English suxx... it's not my original language.
I think I save KONAMI a*s now! (watch,learn,fixing for 2 weeks to reach perfection).

This FIX is only tested (and works)for low-end GeForce4MX (420-440) with VIA based MoBo...
BTW, my full spec. is "ONLY":
-MSI KT333 Ultra2 Via6380E chipset.w/ Athlon
-GeForce4 MX 420 64MB DDRam.
-512Mb DDRam PC2700 (2 module of 256mb)
-SyncMaster 17" mon.
-400Watt PowerSupply and $6 stabilizer.
-WinXP (no servicepack yet)
....that's the only spec matter for this purpose...

What u shouldn't DO:
-60Hz Refreshrate fix for this games ( a month u play like this, next one u will buy a glasses!).
-use DoubleSpeed patch (it's unnatural and your lying yourself for fake satisfaction).
-install any Konami patch (the 1.30.1 set fps_max to 61 and DESPERATELY turn ON DOUBLESPEED when FPS below 50(stutter makers)!!!) and it's only change the .exe (copy the fixed exe from gamecopyworld without patch the original ALREADy change your version, it has the SAME EFFECT).
-do not move LOD bias mipmap on rivatuner to the right, better performance uglier pic quality.
-use any "compatibility" mode, it make unstable performance, and believe me WinXp handle this game better though I love 98se for the others(yes, I have it too and I'm testing it in both OS for research).
-sell drugs or yourself to buy a new GFXcards (some High-End GFXcards is having an almost same problem)
-sue me for your computer crash/failure.

What U should HAVE:
-open mind for idea and courage.
-FRAPS (best tool for catching fps, simple...)
-NVIDIA Detonator v41.09 (best for this game, I tried 27,28,30,33,44,even forceware 53.3)
-RivaTuner and TOMMTI 3D-Analyze v2.31.
-an understanding that I don't care where u get all that!

What U SHOULD DO:
-at Bios LOAD HIGH PERFORMANCE SETTING and then set 32-bit data transfer on, AGP aperture 128, 1st write and read DISABLED (ur card using 0 clock!), AGP read synchronization ON, AGP Fastwrite ON,fsb 133 or 166, PCI latency 32, DRAM set for best USER setting (small numbers ussually better, test it for yourself).
-still at BIOS, set year before ur installing WinXP (ex. year 1900) it will make your XP can't restore previous working system, an error will occur, nevermind that, change LATER after you perfectly run the games at proper speed.
-in WinXp change 'IoPageLockLimit' to 65536Kb in the regedt32.exe (sorry I forgot the reg address), the win default is only 4096kb.,( i dont have time to explain what it is, again figure it yourself..).
-open COntrol-Panel--->Perf.&maintenance--->system--->advanced---->Perf.setting--->advanced tab---> and click proc.schedulling and mem usage both in PROGRAMS, last custom size your virtual memory (on NTFS drive) to min.258 and max.2562-->set, ok and DONT restart yet.
-uninstall your VIA 4-in-1 drivers (use the installation exe and uninstall all). DONT restart!
-direct3d vsync cannot be turn off on detonator41.09 via riva tuner but that's ok,it will stuck on 61!!
-open direct3d tabs on RivaTuner..(right triangle of driver setting CUSTOMIZE),go to textures tab, set the texture filtering to performance, go to compability tab and uncheck all checkmarks and disable antialiasing (this one suck 10fps every level of adjusments...),ok,ok,ok,close it.Btw, to gain some fps overclock(lowlevel) to core/mem 266/366Mhz.,it's save except u want to use this card for 100years more...
-open 3d analyze and select your pes3.exe, open it, and turn on force z-buffer(it's LMA all abouts!), disabled 2-side stencil(it's dx8.1 style), emulate HW TnL caps(lowering the GPU works to give CPU some works,CPU almost idle in the game!!!),set to Quality on remove stuttering,and force 24-bit Z-buffer w/out stencil.Run the game and quit in the first menu. Last, click save to batch file and close 3D-an.
-right click and click EDIT on your batch file from 3D-Analyze before, then open the Launcher menu on Riva tuner, press "+" button there click OK when some pop-ups appear, now the trick begin.
-Give the menu item name then click on associated app. and put every line in batch editor until the word "...3dAnalyze\3DAnalyze.exe " under the path section and then the rest of the words in command line ,next set priority class to realtime., and click ok.
-RESTART WINDOWS.
-when u come in again in windows LAUNCH the game from RivaTuner Launcher items that u make before u restart windows (remember the item name).

...AND I PLAY THE GAME NOW (after slowmode and too fastmode) in the way that KONAMI really want us to fell, AT 58-61 FPs IN 800x600 HIGH DETAIL, FULL Acc.sound, full commentary,fast replay, fast referee movement on booking ,no blurring supporter on every zoom occassion (the cause of W-buffer here which handle closer texture better and kill the far away...) and all in game feature ON!

btw, u might want to disable stadium effect (give u 3-7fps more) which i see no difference effect in game except when the player come in.


FOR U GeForce 4 Mx Owner, PLAY THOSE BEATIFULL GAME THE WAY IT SHOULD BE PLAY like other Great PC game.

It's a valient effort to write this, i've done one with a 440 way back when i had that card. The thing is with this game is that every's copy will seem to run differently. So you can have the exact same specs and do all the changes, it'll still be different then for the guy it worked for. And if you have a 420... you should REALLY consider trying to save for a new GFX card.

exactly gathron,some guy had the same specs as me and i changed my com settings to exactly the same as his and i still had the problems. I also had a MX420 card and it was a piece of S***,got a TI 4400 and straight away pro evo 3 worked without no mucking around with settings and stuff,on the highest settings without a problem,my advice for MX420 owners get a new card it is really worth it,u ca play games such as splinter cell and halo on the highest resolution without a single hitch and for games like doom 3 and half life u wont be abled to run them.

i do tryin to get ti4200, my friends agree to exchange his with mine with only $20 add becuz' he is not a gamers....but Im just tryin' someone here (johnny if not wrong)., Btw, u should know...if really is a comp is a same spec ,and holds exactly the same date and the same setting from the same copy IT WILL MAKE A SAME RESULT. IT IS BINARY THINGS 0 or 1! but, then again, IF and only if.....

And what about Geforce 2 MX 400 64mb?

well i dont think TI 4200 will run great either,what ive read people are having problems on that card too. As for closing possibilities,i think i can close them cause for 1 month and a week i tried something like 3 hours a day to get it to run great,i tried every method and none worked,if its a bad graphics card u wont get it to run high detail 1280-1024 resolution settings,its like trying everything to run a xbox game on a PS1....it aint gonna happen.

Yesterday, i think God comes to my PC and do some to my MX440 and my PC.
I put 1280x1024 , full detail , detonators 53.03 and full detail. I run the game, and it was perfect !!!!!!!! no slowmotions, very very smooth and no slows in areas!!!!!!!!!!!!!! try that, is another xperience .

Hey Spurs... with a GOOD SETTING (except ur lazy..) u can play it EVEN BETTER with your spec! My point is, the guy should know what he had NOW, how to make it usefull! Ok?

Splinter Cell on High? gyaahhaha how do u think a manage to end those game if the graphics not full detail (quincunx FSAA, lag is on the shadow but i manage to override it, with knowledge not money like u...), HL2 you mean? what the f!@# u think I was doing now? I'm on the team which started to make HL mod 2 years ago, the next HL2 supporting directX9 but not closing compatibility to backwards.!

BTW, do u know about Informatical Engineering Technology? allright...hmmm...that's where my major is...

- do u really can imagine what is your GFX cards box mean about LMA technology,z-buffer,w-buffer,4-8pipelining,8x bus rate.etc???

Software can emulate Hardware works. once again it's about 0 or 1, electricity on or off. PEACE!

btw(again), 53.03 is too fast for me if vsync is off and slowmo when vsync is on. I was playing with 53.03 with konami patch 1.30.1 (they set fps_max 61 ) but it not compatible with superpatch someone says.

if you want really smooth (original ps2 mode) try tv resolution at 7xx x480 , a setting above 640x480 and set an NTSC refresh rate (equal to 60 Hz), it never get slow., straight at 60fps! Konami is not use to make a 'program/games' to be compatible with many spec, they are originally console maker and... PS2 is the only place before to host WE series, there is only 1 HW spec on PS2 all over the world with difference on DVD secutiry code and TV refresh rate..! They just dont use to..yet.

Look cross dont diss me,no im not lazy i tried everything for over a month,u dont know me so dont call me lazy. second of all i did IT in college im studying computer science in university so leanr about a person before u open your mouth.

and no i didnt spend money my friend gave me the TI 4400 so once again u are embarrased by your lack of knowledge so before u start dissin ppl for a opinion they have,have facts instead of speculating PEACE.

@Cross21: I've just tried your settings to 3D Analyzer and its superb !!! I can play 640x 480x High Detail with no slowdowns! even during replays (!!!)

My specs: Duron 1.2 Ghz, 512 DDram, GF 2 MX 100/200 (yeah I know it sux)
I was using double speed + vsync off+sound acceleration setup on minimal (but not off)+Tweak XP to optimize memory before play+ of course 3D Analyzer which ROXX !!! (I used it earlier but on another settings)

The rest of your method is very revolutional 'cause you say no slowdowns even replays without double speed, so it must to be a BIG kick to machine
I'll try the rest of your advise later

btw. why do you recommend set to Quality on 'remove stuttering' section? Don't you think better performance would be set up this on 'Performance' ? You know better, but this is my little suggestion

I have another trick to play pes3 very smooth with gf4mx440:
Just turn your desktop un 16-bit mode,play pes3 on window mode,but do this with 3d-analyzer(turn off the z-buffer option or it doesn´t work),use nvidia forceware 53.03 and now I can play it with 1024*768,medium details absolutely smooth!try it!

My specs:amd xp 200+,512ddr,win xp,gf4mx440
