i think we would of been a lot closer than we are. Some people may think i crazy but i honestly think Cisse would of got us 15 goals at least this year if he stayed fit.

what you all think about the Owen rumors floating around at the moment? If he comes available i think Rafa should stay well clear. you can't keep owen, cisse, baros and morientes all happy. Morientes would be in his worst nightmare x2 if owen came back.

Harry played for 60mins last night!

Great to see Harry back and hopefully in time for the leverkuusan match. Is gerrard banned for that match or something? And does anyone have any idea what the line up should be like?

Gerrard is suspended. so we gonna have hamman and Biscan. both of these frustrate me.

DAm! I hope Benitez decides to play a diamond midfield and have hamman dm and le tallec as AM, that way we can hae Garcia on the right and Smicer on the left and Kewell as LS or supporting striker. I don't think Nunez is that good of a player and won't start(Well not showing his true game) Not to be negative but to be honest i don't think liverpool will suceed through this first CL leg with a team like this, although our full strength Backline is there.

Pretty close to it if you ask me. Plus if we want to build a winning squad, we shouldnt sell our best and most influential player to do so. We need to keep the best players and bring some another good ones. Although we are already doing that. I dont really know what is going wrong with us to tell you the truth.

Maybe the foreign players need to adapt, but hell, we have the likes of Baros, Morientes, Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, Luis Garcia, Kewell plus some other internationals of good level and we struggle against mediocre teams and we are 5 points or so behind Everton, and Everton arent nothing special.

I mean, names dont win games, but what the hell! We should be doing better.

I think you solved your own query without knowing it. are any of those players you mentioned defenders?

Hyypia, Finnan, Carragher, Riise and Pellegrino should be doing the trick aswell. I've seen teams with worse defenders defending better than us.

Maybe, but i think the defence is probably the area that needs the most strengthening tho. Carragher and Riise are about the only ones i'd like to keep out of them.

I hate to say but Hyypia is past his best. While he is still good, he is on the wrong side of 30 and he gives away alot in pace to pretty much all of the strikers in the premiership.

It's been depressing this season.

Riise has been doing a bitching job as a left midfielder. Better than Kewell IMO.

Hopefully Riise's performance will continue at left back. Kewell is going to be playing for the first time in ages without injury, it should smarten up his performance at bit at least. Especially with Morientes in the middle as a target man which is something Kewell hasn't really had before.

I agree with the fact that we need more strength in defence but not that Hyypia is past it. He's had perhaps a half-dozen bad games this season and I hardly feel that qualifies him as washed up and over the hill.

As for him being the wrong side of thirty, I think that you will find that a good many of the worlds top defenders over the past twenty years have still been just as sharp after their 30th Birthday as before. Some people are bitching about him being too slow now, but when in the hell was he ever anything but slow. He makes up for lack of pace in other ways, and I would personally like to see him around at the club for a few more years.

I think that it's far too easy to find scape goats when things aren't going so well, but Sami should not be used as one IMO. Feel free to use Diao though

the only defender we need is a good right-back. carragher has been consistent all season long, even when played as a fullback. he's done a really good job in the centre too, even better imo when he was a fullback.

as for hyypia losing his pace, when did he ever have any? he more than makes up for his lack of pace through his superb defensive positioning. he's one of the tallest guys in the team, which makes it difficult for even the talles striker to do anything against him in the air. and when it comes to replacing him, i don't think there's any other player with his ability AND has pace thats available. the only real candidate i see for "replacing" him would be ledley king from tottenham who is both fast and tall. do you think tottenham will sell? or more importantly, would we have funds to purchase someone of his position in his current club? no.

rafa's comments are good imo. the team really needs a kick up the behind after our dismal performance against birmingham

I've seen that sig over on RAWK. Is that you using it over there, have you pinched it, or has someone pinched it from you?

Sammi is great but when he is turned we do struggle as Jamie C is not the quickest either. I do think a young CB with lots of pace is needed.

most important is better CM players in the squad.

I've been saying it a while, Hyypia needs shipping out, at his age, experience usually gives you the postioning that makes up for the pace you've lost, but it doesn't seemed to of happened in his case. We need someone at centre back who could be a captain, someone who would lead the defence.
