Celtic and Rangers to finally be allowed to play FA Cup?

Welsh clubs are already playing in it so why not scottish clubs, might bring some meaning back to the cup that we seem to be losing every year

And when they lose to lesser english clubs they migth realize they might not be good enough for the Premier League, and end that issue too.

The article has a suggestion by the WRITER that the Old Firm could play in the FA Cup as a start to their integration into English football.

It doesn't say that it is now being talked about within football circles.

As the supporter of a Scottish club outwith the Old Firm I would love to see them leave, and the Scottish game could cope with their departure.

However, the fact is they won't leave, not for the Premiership anyway. The Premiership doesn't need them, simple as that. They also wouldn't supply as many travelling fans as the other teams and wouldn't be guaranteed Europe every season.

The Premiership doesn't need the Old Firm and it could be a problem for the OF if they went there.

are you sure? i pretty much sure that rangers and celtic fans would fill every stadium they travel too on away games.

also the premiership is becoming stale. i have no doubts that the top 4 teams in england would welcome rangers and celtic. its the mid table clubs that would oppose it.

Sky would jump up with screaming joy if the Old Firm could come down to England!!

yes, everton challenging for a champion's league place, real stale isn't it.
and the only reasonn there are large turnouts for european away games is because they are important, how many may celtic fans will you see when they play portsmouth

Stu was right, there wouldn't be as many Old Firm fans going to away matches as English fans.

One of the main reasons for that is that the police would want to limit the amount of fans travelling from Scotland. And it would be the same the other way around.

the more thought i give it.

England and Scotland should scrap their league cups.

Then create a cup with all teams from the english and scottish leagues. Instead of the EPL entering at round 3, the top 10 from the EPL and top 6 from SPL could enter there.

So will Rangers and Celtic fans all be filling stadiums at Southampton, Portsmouth, Bolton and Blackburn?

They've done it on one off occasions, however I doubt they'd do it every other week.

Sky wouldn't care, they'll pay the same regardless.

Every league is stale across Europe, often the same group of teams challenging for honours.

the only reason that they would initially fill stadiums is because they're just a different side.

I still say that if Rangers and Celtic DID join the English leagues, they would have to start at the bottom (like AFC Wimbledon) thus there being no point in joining England :)

Not wanted.
