GolTV Canada to launch in October

The Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has approved an application from Insight Sports Limited to operate "The Soccer Net" as a pay digital "Category 2 Specialty Programming" television service.

Insight Sports has announced that it will use the licence to launch GolTV Canada in October.

I love what Fox has done with Fox Soccer Channel. They show new Ligue 1, Bundesliga and EPL matches every weekend (live EPL game every Monday as well) along with the highlights shows for those three leagues which is fantastic (Y). They also show WC Qualifyers from Europe, usually 2 live and 2 delayed by a couple of hours which isn't bad at all.

I'm about to switch from cable to Dish Network because along with FSC they have GolTV as well so I get to see UEFA Cup matches too (Y).

GolTV shows a lot of the same Serie A coverage on TLN, so problems might arise (wasnt this why it took so long for RAI to come?). Same with La Liga and what SN shows.

come to think of it, my FSWC channel costs 1$/month because it can be picked in my 30channels/30$ package and is a categorie 2 channel just like GolTV Canada. I'll just take out ESPN Classic for GolTV. :rockman:

TV5 is available on cable and American Satellite. TLN is great for Italian soccer. You can pick up one of the American Spanish channels that show soccer with antenna or American Satellite.

FSW Canada for 2.50 is worth it. Any idea which station is carrying the Community shield game this weekend? I mean Arsenal v/s Chelsea is great as the second game and all but I would also like to see the Community Shield game. RSO ain' t showing it and neither is FSW Canada.

Agreed that TSN is goina be flooded with Hockey from this point on but I doubt what someone said about the CL is actually goina be true. CL games are braodcasted here live in the afternoon and would be bumped by only something like a major hockey tournament like the Juniors (but this is in December when there ain' t no CL). Hardly any NHL games are played in the afternoon so I doubt that ESPN' s CL coverage would take a back seat. I do feel that the EPL gets a lot of coverage BUT, let' s face it....your' e not goina get too many instances when a game like Liverpool-ManU is on a Saturday...it will be on a Sunday and RSO don' t show no Sunday games so it is great. TLN shows Serie A games on Saturday AND SUNDAY so why shouldn' t there be more EPL games? I mean I wake up sometimes to watch the first half of WHICHEVER game is being shown in Rogers Sportsnet Ontario (RSO) and it turns out to be Fulham versus Charlton. :sb9:

Rogers will carry GolTv, now I just have to figured out if it will only be a digital channel or included in a cable package.

Anyone want to do the work for me and inquire. :ewan:

PLEASE, have it in a cable package, I don't want to pay for a digital box.
