One more thing:

Did anybody notice that the finishing is horrendous in this game? I have a guy who has 90 shot accuracy, 90 shot technique and he CONSTANTLY (every game) misses shots from 2 yards out while facing the goal and having almost no pressure from the opponent.

This is just wrong. I have 20 goddamn chances a game, and my attack is NOT bad. It has GOOD stats. And yet, I miss almost every goddamn shot. At the same time, the CPU only needs one semi-decent chane to score a winner.

That is so true. Players often seem they don't even try to aim their shot at the goal. In previous versions up to PES 3, the power bar used to be a way to tell how much risk you're willing to take when shooting, but now, it seems you have no control on that.

I actually find it rather easy to score, especially from out of the box. Most of my games are high scoring games. The shots go way too fast aswell in this verison of the game. Serisouly its like a rocket flying towards goal. Way too fast.

And in PES 4, shots were awfully slow. Konami always seems to overreact when they correct a flaw from a version to the next, or they replace a flaw with another.

For example, all the faults happening when trying to press defenders seem to be a lame attempt to prevent easy goals after stealing the ball from them. The right way of course would have been to make the defenders pass the ball before they're in trouble.

Absolutely true, I've noticed that as well, it's been there at least since PES3...

Most of the time 95% I play in a friendly single mode, the AI getting chance of cheating is not very often occuring.

You know, that's true and one of the things which highlights the cheating so much in Cup, League & ML modes. My players in a friendly can suddenly do the job against Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, etc. If I play those teams in ML, my players end up trapping balls like an elephant or will fall over because a member of the crowd (1 of the 20!) shouted somethign at them.

It's still funny how these people defend the game keep pointing at "when you get good at the game". I win 95% of the time on 5 stars and at least 50% of the time on 6 stars. When I first got the game and played on 4 stars, I played an EPL season and won 34, tied 3 and lost 1 (to Chelsea through a PK). It's not about being better at the game, it's about having the CPU be better at the game to beat me legitimately without handicapping my players with paralysis or making them foul to give away free kicks and PKs when I haven't touched a single button.

I'm not looking forward to PES6 at this rate because Konami's ears are just going to ring with "the game's perfect, there are no flaws whatsoever, it's just because people are crap at the game. When you rule at the game like me you see the whole game is perfect, I love you Konami."

That's what happened to FIFA between 1999 and 2004. Fanboys outshouting the ones who were bright enough to see there were flaws and every year was getting worse.

i only have one question for Wolf. When r u releasing ur patch?!

To be honest bud, I don't know if it's worth spending countless hours like the last two years working on this game. You can put a pig in a nice suit but it's still a pig - just a better dressed one.

I'll wait to see if they've made any changes to WE9:I when it comes out in Feb/Mar (because it takes Konami six months to release a version here when all they basically do is put it in a different box and have a new title screen and voice introduction). If it still has the same crowd bug on the PC which is inexcusable for a release almost 6 months after PES5 then Konami can f*** off for this year because that's just pure and utter BS.

I'll wait until PES7 before I waste my spare time. It was worth it for PES3/WE7:I (IMO the best Konami title to date) and for PES4/WE8:I but it doesn't matter how many stadiums, uniforms, shoes, banners, adboards, correct rosters and lineups, etc. you put in the game - you know when it comes down to it, you'll be playing an important cup game and the CPU will make your player fall over, foul, run the opposite direction etc. completely beyond your control to ensure that the CPU wins.

If Konami can't be bothered correcting this dumb crap (and even the biggest fanboy has got to admit the crowd bug, whether it bothers them or not, is utterly inexcusable for the PC version) then I can't be bothered doing their job for them and dressing it up. F*** 'em!

playing against people is fun, but my biggest source of entertainment last year was ML. Right now, all my friends aren't as good, and I really hoped for a good ML.

From what I hear, FIFA 2006 is a big improvement since fifa 2005, so I might give that a try instead. Better than cursing at the goddamn game every 2 secs.

Pere, the things that are disucussed in this thread has nothing to do with tactics or skill you posses. The same applys to Snowy's responses.

The main concern is 1) physics engine which seems sluggish and unresponsive; 2) the scripting of the game that makes certain things happen at certain situations, mainly the issues with unability to control the players as you would want.

Tactics are a good thing, but you can't fight the bugs or blunders of the game with good tactics. They remain regardless.

Quoted for truth.

i wish people would keep complaints to one thread, it's getting repetitive.

A.) The game is not perfect and has a lot of flaws, no one can deny that!
B.) Like it or not, it's the best football game on the market.
C.) Playing against cpu is difficult, and scoring is hard, but that is good because you will get better, and consider the game has been out a month, still 11 months to go till PES6.

To Snowy...you cant be serious?? Controlling them incorecctly? if i make a pass to Zidane with noone around him i expect to take control of it easily, not make it hard for himself and somehow lose control of the ball. Or if i am not holding turbo but somehow they push the ball infront of them and never catch up to it. Another one that is great is a pass where your player jumps over the ball and lets it go out instead of controlling it. Snowy this are mistakes by Konami just like the shooting system is a mistake in this game and the GK are numbnuts that stand there like retards on long shots because of the flaw of the shots in this game.

I dont know what else I can say to make you understand. The things you mention above happened to me before. It happens to my brother who started playing it. But the point I want to stress is : it doesnt happen to me anymore. It doesnt happen to all the great players I play online who kick my ass.

So it doesnt take a genius to figure out that it is something that can be avoided. The thing where the player jumps over the ball...well that is exactly the point... it is a feature that you can control.

I am not defending the game at all costs. There are bugs in it, but a lot of things which are not bugs are being classified as bugs due to frustration.

For me i always be the player cover a opposition with the ball.. i would never let the AI taking on an opposition with the ball while i cover another without a ball because i dont trust AI enough.. and during dead ball situation i will make sure i change my cursor fast enough and i am the one heading the ball in or away.. and never follow the path AI made for you always use SUPER CANCEL in any possible situation. So i just dont get it why u guys get screw up by AI so much. I admit it do happen (we human with big brain make mistake too not to blame AI with just few lines scripted code) but not always if u make sure u are the player in every ball situation.

i am not trying to cover konami or something they are doing a bad job this version i often get frustation when partnering others because AI will automatically bring 2 player to get the a ball where one is enough which i have to do a lot of SUPER CANCEL.

I really think PES5 is still the best football game available in the market so i got nothing to switch to and surely not playing older PES/WE series always play the latest. So for now i need to adapt to the AI problem so i can enjoy the game and not frustrated by it. We all know the AI is not good enough then do everything u can to cover their error if u still choose to play PES5 else go FIFA or older series. We are human we can adapt and do better than AI. So keep the whining to minimum and pray konami come out a patch or better version next time.

PS: i do agree what snowy said above those problem dont happen or get minimize if u improve urself to cover those AI mistake u already know.

I must say I always play hardest skill games ( 6 *) and been doing since first pes series...never even tried lower *....except 5* for making enough PES points to be able to unlock 6*....

this years PES5 AI for me is best than ever before...I fu**in beggining to enjoy this game!...of course has its flaws but its far, far better than any other version of a PES game...much more unexpected stuff is CPU teams doing...for example: CPU team had today 20m freekick a little on left side...I expected direct shot and I pull always one defender from box (not in wall) closer to goal and try to defend kick if gk is not able to catch it...but CPU made an air pass to 5 yard box to meet a head of a striker who nails it in! I was amazed!!! lots of better actions doing CPU, must say...and no more stupid and most annoying flaw like your player stutter and lose balance like in PES4...and that was clear cheating...AI was preety predictable in PES4 but not here...of course I have seen some really dumb moves, but more good stuff I have seen...but isnt that what soccer really is? combo of greatness and suckiness :)

today I also counted the number of "dead ball situations" which some ppl here claim that always go to CPU...i played 3-4 matches and about 40 % were going to my players, 60 % to CPU...so that theory is off...of course with R1 & R2 supercancel involved...

also ppl said about CPU that is "cheating" by picking passes or making your players not recieving passes and other stuff...

ppl try to use sometimes R2(hold it to recieve a ball or to make a block to CPU with your players back, some player like Drogba, Van Nistelrooy, Adriano enjoy having this option :) ) when recieving tha ball, try not to run so much, make your time when picking a pass, play a litlle from left to right to "stretch" CPU formation and then try to find some room to play and give some right thru balls...no more stupid tons of one-touch quick passes like in PES 4...

also I like this years dribble system more than in PES4 where it was far to easy with right players...try to use sometimes: press and hold O or [] and then quickly X and choose your side where to make dribble...you can even make ball go throug your opponents legs if your dribble timing is right...

and finally tactic...also ppl complain about your team AI controled players make stupid faults...then decrease zone press, play line defence, try something...PES5 is getting more manegerial than any version before, one of the reasons are also this years engine which will be used in PRO EVO Manager game, published later next year by konami...you really must exploit some individual orders, auto attack options, CB overlap and other stuff...thats why I really enjoy this game cause you really need to play with skill and knowledge...

and for motivation download some sound patches with real chants to make your desire to win even stronger...

the only one I found so far is on http://www.reefur.com/ WE9 MAxima sound patch...but works greatly with PES5 PC....tested by me, no mistakes...over 230 new chants try it! cause default sound really suck! :)

and also a big THANKS to all patchmakers cause they are making this GREAT game 50% better

totally agree with chopa and thx for the link ...

the game would be a lot better if there is REFEREE strictness level (adjustable).. i would love to play 6* strictness if have that.. so ppl will learn to time their tackle properly instead of holding X all the time and foul all the time without cards..
