wow you must be a f*cking genious to get all of that out of my post.

I dont hate Man Utd, not one tiny bit. Nowt wrong with thinking you'll win, I just hate the "the game is already won" attitude. Sorry it just sounds disrespectful and I'd never do it wether it's Manchester United or a 3rd division team we're playing.
It's only one person that said it, you know and even he didn't exactly mean that the game is already won.

I hope for a nice game tomorrow... It's a pity that our best players aren't fit, but usually portuguese teams do well against the english, so... Besides that, Manchester United also needs to get a result and Benfica can be dangerous on the counter attack.I think that Geovanni will show himself tomorrow.

Not even Mourinho would say that he has 100% or 90% chances of winning. Do you actually know what does that mean? You've won 2-1 with 5 minutes to go in Old Trafford! It's not like we're some 3rd division team.. But I like that;)

100% chance means that you will win for sure and there is nothing that can stop you
90% chance means that you will win, unless some freak occurence happens and changes everything, look at it as betting coefficients.
mind you, it weren't my thoughts and i think that Benfica has a much higher chance of winning

And no Benfica are not some 3rd division team, but United are at their best this season right now, coming after 4 league wins in a row including one over Chelsea, everybody except Heinze is back, our morale is very high right now and the team is under a lot of pressure, so judging from past experiences if there is one team that welcomes pressure than it is United. While Benfica has a few key absences and their morale is not that great at the moment, so logically speaking United should get it fair and square (again logically, not what i think will actually be)

Should be a close match, hopefully United will come out successful. Come on United. do it for Georgie.

Starting XI
Well...we got to be realistic sometimes. Benfica without Miccoli, Karagounis, Simão and Manuel Fernandes...4 very important players. Man Utd at full force, now with Giggs...

Well, IMO, only a Super-Benfica can win against Man Utd. But you can bet, that I am supporting Benfica on this one. It would suck not to have any portuguese team in the 1/8. This has to be one of the few times I am supporting them. :nape:

If a Super-Benfica appears tomorrow:

2-1

Luisão
Nuno Gomes
Ruud

If not:

0-2

Ruud x2

if we had at least Karagounis and M. Fernandes, we would stand a nice chance to win this one...

Miccoli is our best striker, Simão our best Winger, Karagounis is, for me, our most complete midfielder, and Manuel Fernandes is as important as Petit in the defensive midfield role, and he can score from like, 35 yards out.... they're all out! =/

it will be tough! :nape:

It's obvious that it will be difficult to beat them...But it will be hard for them too. Playing in a full Estadio da Luz is never easy, and I think that most of Manchester United fans would agree with me on that.

But, at least one person doesn't think that way: Alex Ferguson. He has just said in the press conference that "they deserve to go on in the competition because they're the best team, better than Benfica; and the teams that played in Old Trafford together only managed to shot 3 and an half times to Man Utd's goal." "It's been a very even group and it's incredible how a team like Lille can still go thru".
So, according to mr. Ferguson, they are the best team even without playing their matches...how can he say that they're best than Benfica?! At least show it on the field. And those comments about the shots on Van der Sar's goal are just... I remember (just from Benfica's game) at least 3 clear goal chances besides the goal. Ricardo Rocha, Miccolli, Simão...
And...it's incredible how a team like Man Utd can still go thru! What have they done the other teams haven't?? They won 1 game!
I simply don't respect Alex Ferguson anymore. It's always the same with him. Two years ago against FC Porto was just the same, making fun of our league...

I think that in terms of midfield polyvalence Manuel Fernandes puts Karagounis in his pocket.

I hardly see Benfica drawing this, and definitely not winning.
United appear to back on track, and one can't say Benfica is playing well at all.
quoting Funky, I sense a bitchslap coming (H)

Realistically i don´t think that Benfica has any chance to go through. Too many key players injured. Not only that but Manchester United has been in pretty good form recently and has almost the entire roster available. A full force Benfica team would struggle with Manchester United, in these conditions im expecting the worst.
