Are woman referees a good idea?

Expect more discussion to come about this, at least here in Brazil...

here's something on today's ongoing Palmeiras vs. Corinthians match:

"A auxiliar que anulou o gol não havia levantado a bandeira em nenhum momento do lance. Ana Paula Oliveira marcou falta de Tevez depois da jogada ter sido definida."

"The assistant who said the goal was invalid hadn't raised her flag in any moment. Ana Paula Oliveira said Tevez had fouled his marker in the play that lead to the goal, after the goal was scored"

that's from Terra's live coverage of the match... in the TV, they said that Tevez didn't foul his marker, and that nothing was wrong with the play...

after the match I think they'll interview the assistant... if anything interesting comes out of this, I'll post here... (so far, 1-1, the goal would have put Corinthians ahead)

EDIT: To make stuff a bit more clear, the play was happening on the left side of Corinthians' attack, opposite to where the assistant was... also, she ran back to the halfway line after the goal was scored...

:f***: i'm so pissed off!!!!!!!!!

The excuse the ref gave was stupid... he said the other assistant, a man, had already told him that he saw Tevez fouling the defender, before the goal... if that's so, why was the play allowed to continue?

To me, that's just the ref trying to protect Ana Paula (I don't blame him, I'd do that too! :hump: )

Ana Paula said she wasn't sure of the foul, so she didn't do anything, and ran to the middle to confirm the goal... the ref himself confirmed the goal, so the other assistant didn't tell him anything before it happened...

Before the foul was given, the ref had a talk with Ana Paula... right after that, he awarded a foul to the pigs... unless they were talking about sharing a shower after the match, she told him to award the foul...

Female refs have no place in the male game. Just like male refs have no place in the female.

Ademar Braga, Corinthians' temporary coach (until they find a replacement for Lopes): "Leao was commanding the match. He grabbed Ana Paula's arm and told her to point the foul to the ref."

Would a male assistant fall to such pressure? we'll never know...

I knew (well, hoped) it was a joke but thats not what I'm talking about.

You don't make a thread about black refs, adding a line like "how can they be referees, when they should polish shoes", don't you?

i wouldn't even think about saying something like that. racism just isn't funny.

if you think that mild sexism isn't funny either then...... tough!

who cares if the ref is a male or a female.. as long as its a person that can make decisions and knows alot about football, who the heck cares!?? ofcourse there are some bad woman refs and some good ones too, exact same with males... it doesn't matter

we all do, Thunder mate, we all do...

ok, it turns out it was the other assistant who spotted the foul, which, imho, would make PES referees appalled, and that's saying something... the contact was minimal, and I think Tevez was looking at the ball when it occurred, there was no intention of pushing him, if you can even call that pushing...

as for Evandro Silveira, there's a reason you're a friggin linesman and not a ref, you bastard! :f***:
