Barcelona have offered Samuel Eto'o to Arsenal as a makeweight for Thierry Henry, according to reports in Spain.

Spanish daily Marca claims Barca are ready to part with the Cameroonian striker plus €25million (£17million) in order to bring Henry to Camp Nou.

The report says negotiations between Barca sport director Txiki Beguiristain and his Arsenal counterparts are already well advanced.

It also says the deal has met with approval from Arsene Wenger and the two players.

Eto'o's future has been the subject of speculation for some time and he has expressed a liking for the English game.

Henry has continued to be linked with Barca following Arsenal's disappointing season, even though he signed a long-term deal with The Gunners last summer.

Wenger guaranteed that his talismanic captain would not be sold earlier this month, while Henry has assured fans previously that his future remains in London.

Barcelona have yet to confirm whether there is any substance in the report, while Eto'o is currently away on international duty with Cameroon and has not commented.

No way. I know Eto'o is extremely talented and a bit younger, but Henry is a footballing genius and the backbone of the team for that matter. Why take a gamble on someone who has never played in England and trade him for the captain and maybe the best player in Premiership history? Things have gone completely down hill since the last time we sold our captain. Lets not make the same mistake again please:nape:.

Theres an interesting interview on soccernet with Thierry Henry, he seems pretty gutted about Dein leaving, saying how it has unsettled the whole club. Eto'o is class though you wouldn't be losing too much by signing him.

I'm not hearing anything about Arsenal signing anyone, wats happening. I think you guys need another striker, and possibly a winger. Now Ribery has gone to Bayern, and Ljungberg is most likely leaving, who do you guys reckon you'll be signing ?

^^Thats easy, the board is going to be bought out and there is going to be a new owner within the year. So the mind set at the moment would be that their is no reason to use their money to buy players if they are not going to be there next season. This is of course from I've heard, and it does make sense when you think about was happen recently.

You have to wonder how much this will play into Henry decicion to either stay or leave. I for one wouldn't be surprised if he was in a different shirt when the season kicks off

Well I wouldn't mind a striker, but I really would rather try to get a CB, CM, or winger. After all Van Persie may have scored more than 15 goals last season had he not broken his foot and Adebayor is decent as well.
I'm not fully convinced on Rosicky though, so we could try maybe to get a winger like Robben or ummm... idk. I'm sure Wenger can find some unknown talent.
And as for Henry staying or leaving, didn't he sign a new contract last year? Wtf these contracts truly have no meaning.

^^ Winger is a must but we do not need a striker, considering we have rvp,adebayor,henry,walcott. bendtner's come back from birmingham so we can add one more to that list. I feel we don't need to meddle with our strikers unless henry leaves, or something like that happens.

Although this year if Van Persie and Henry get injuried we will be left with adebayor who has Cup of Nations in Jan and two rookies

I really can see anything happening for at least another 12 months or so on that front.

And then there is just the normal crap about Henry leaving etc. Which i cant see happening unless we get alot of money + Etoo or Alot of money + Kaka (Im dreaming there).

We wont sell because we wouldnt have the money to replace him with someone of similar quality.
If we sell it could open the door for others to request transfers.
Henry is a big draw card for players. Youngsters and Experienced players come here to play with Henry

:) , i don't know actually, it all depends on what you want to do with Rosicky and Hleb, will Rosicky switch to the right if you bring a lefty?, will he go to the bench? i don't actually know if Rosicky played on the wing before coming to arsenal and obviously Fabregas is untouchable.
i think it was the same with Hleb i think he played as a central attacking midfielder before coming to Arsenal, if it was up to me i'd keep Rosicky and find a right winger, (or a lefty who can play both wings, and Malouda is too much of a lefty) but as they say Arsene knows best.

Only £16 million for Henry, should be able to get them a decent replacement though, I think the fact you guys have Walcott has made it easier to make the decision, maybe Walcott will start now ?

On another note, although I don't like to admit it, I think your guys new kit is awesome. Damn.
