Analog? I don't think so

I play FIFA 08 for the pc with a Logitech Dual Action controller, and even though the game says it uses analog control, I'm not seeing it.

There is no "middle" speed in which the players can run. It's either all-out, or dead-stop, no matter how you feather the left stick. Further, the players only run in 8 directions, which then also means that you can only use the "manual" through-passes and crosses in 8 directions, making these features essentially useless. All this basically means that you're better off using the D-Pad to control your players, since at least then you know exactly what you're doing and where you're going, even if it isn't with analog control.

Disappointing, to say the least. :(

I agree with you my brother. Turn off the manual cross and other one and you will experience a more precise gameplay. Using the dual action pad this year sucks big time. The movements is horrible. I wish I knew how to use the keys cause this year, in particular, it will give you better movement.

I tried using the d-pad but I can't do it. I force of habit I guess.

i call shenanigans... I'm using a ps-one controller as a logitech device and i have analog for crossing and through balls. They allow much more precision during play but force you to learn to use them - the vague "W" through ball in 07 was a little tiresome as it was pretty much perfect 9 times out of 10 so you could just make a little space and slip it through. now they have to be weighted and directed so there's a bit more to it. certainly more fulfilling when you get it right...

Of course the movement of players is still stuck on the 8 direction grid, except when sprinting - then it becomes somewhat analog, or perhaps 16 directions...

I thought that might have been the case, too, and I went into practice mode to try it out. The manual crosses were only going off in eight directions. Don't know what more to say about it. Maybe you're right, but I'm not seeing any evidence of it.

Hello Soccer fans,

Do any of you know how to use the D-PAD for Fifa08 on the PS3?
I really hate playing with the analog stick.

I did the same thing... unless the computer pushes the crosses/through balls off the 8 axii towards your players, then it's definately working in full 360...

could it be your controller/settings?

There is a middle speed as there always was in the previous Fifas. There is the walk pace, run, and sprint. And this is a good game to me.
