It's a good game...

I like the fact that it is harder than 07 BUT in 08 it is no fun when:
- the PC always wins contrasts
- the pc defenders always run faster than your forward (even if he's Cristiano Ronaldo)
- the pc players always can dribble 3-4 of your defenders without being touched
- the through-balls go never through
- 98% of the chip shots go over the bar or are taken by the keeper
- the keeper saves everything
- your forward misses the easiest goals even when alone in front of the goal keeper
- 90% of the shots, even by the best strikers, are too high, too central, on the post or out of target, whilst the score ratio (goals/shots) of the PC is 80%
- the PC in 85% of the cases scores at the 90' minute and you can't do anything about it.
- the skillmoves are useless and in 99% of the cases you loose the ball by using them.

For the rest is a good game.....

In this game you just cant hope to hold sprint and the pressure button to get the ball.You need to time it at the right time.It will take time to get used to..Its something like a delay system to make it more realistic.If you have played NK's Fifa 07 patches you'll know what i am talking about.

I haven't played long enough to have a full list of pros and cons, since I've only played about 6 or 7 games on WC difficulty, but I will say that...

1) I love the fact that the game supports widescreen, and

2) I love the way the AI clogs the passing lanes, and works the ball around when attacking.

I don't think I've ever played a sports game where the AI plays the passing lanes as well as FIFA 08 (and I've played A LOT of sports games). It's a lot harder to work the ball upfield than it was last year. The AI is much smarter in this regard. Last year, I was a scoring machine. I was scoring 3 goals per game easy, both on default WC and even with gameplay mods. So far this year, after playing those 6 or 7 games, I've scored a grand total of ONE (1) goal on WC, and it's not because the computer is necessarily cheap, but rather because it doesn't sit idly by while I pass the ball all over the place and cross at will. The computer is on my ass the whole game, and I love it. Also, possession and tackle totals are much more even, whereas last year I was always dominating in these areas.

All I have to do now is learn how to optimize my chances in the box, and I'll be good.

I agree..the problem is to beat the Keeper!!!!!!!


The rest is pure soccer.....even your tactics make huge diference on what comes from the game.

i played a game in legendary difficulty and world class GK(no legendary GK???)
MANU 2-3 LIV
i was MANU.they score 2 late goals and won.

the main difference is the GK.also there is no legendary GK

i would say yes in case you have played fifa07.

I like everything execpt the fact that you can't create your own formations in manager mode and I can't seem to figure out how to control my goalkeeper either.

Playing in Semi-Pro right now just to get used to the game. It's the most realistic game so far. You really have to look around before you pass, you have to slowlly build up an attack from the back, and tactics are really important as well - formation, wing play, man marking.... And it's really frustrating when you can't score just like the real thing. I play in an amateur league in real life and can tell you that Fifa 08 brings back some of the same feeling as being on the field against a good team. It's hard, it's frustrating, and you really have to put in the efford if you want to win.

PES was a good game last year, even better than Fifa 07 but this Fifa 08 really recreates the game as it should be. No more fast action and wave after wave of endless attempts on goal. PES is a fun game to play, Fifa 07was fun as well but Fifa 08 really brings it home (at least for me)

People who don't like it have obviously never played football or just appreciate the game as it is.

fifa 08 for xbox 360&ps3 = a beautiful game with many retouched elements which make for a beautiful soccer experience

fifa 08 for pc = garbage
