Playstation (PSX)

For the simple reason it forever changed the public perception of videogaming, and also delivered arcade quality graphics to a home system. In addition to that it enticed many more "mainstream" people into gaming. The likes of "Tekken" "Ridge Racer" and "Wipeout" elevated to heights never seen.

The PS2's success owes quite a bit to the legacy the PSX established.

Gameboy. Doesn't even matter which. Although preferably the first one.

Seconded. Good old times playing those Zeldas, Pokemons and Wario Land:p

I have to say Dreamcast as well. Totally Underated, but the amazing games it has are so much that I have to do an own topic to talk about each of them.

Dreamcast died for the simple reason that Saturn had already done so much damage to Sega's reputation (and their fanbase had switched to PS)

Also Electronic Arts and several main publishers didn't support the machine, and when you consider how well Madden and FIFA perform each year you get a tiny idea of the effect.

I still have a Dreamcast (well I bought one for £15 a couple of months ago) + a copy of Midway's awesomely good fun NFL Blitz2000

Agreed. But you can't say even though EA wasn't supporting it that wasn't a reason for it's death. The real reason was called Sega Saturn. Even though it sold out pretty well in Japan and had amazing games (Shining Force 3 is my all-time favourite game).

Altho it didn't do so well, the SEGA Dreamcast was the best looking console ever made, in the guiness book of records, it's small and slick design captured the desires of many gamers.

It's a shame SEGA couldn't pull the idea off, otherwise it would have had a great run, instead it was let down by poor marketing and support and got swamped by the mega Sony Playstation 2 which is STILL on the rampage today and is the little brother to what is now the disappointing PS3 which is shadowed by the exclusive greatness that the games on the Xbox 360 has to offer.

But both these consoles are the Wii's bitches, which is outselling them all, cause lets face it...Nintendo made the best idea. It's just a shame the graphics are 'almost' as good as the Xbox 1. But when you invest so much time on what makes the gameplay so interactive, immersive and great...you tend to sell to a large market...FAMILY! Not just the geeky brother and the sister listening to Britney spears, the Wii has the whole family playing for hours.

Can you tell I sell consoles at my job? lol.

Nick.

Oh and my fav game of all time is the one which no one beat me at in England and when I went to America...Virtua Fighter 3! With Pai Chan I reversed almost every strike and was a force in the arcades for the 'guy you don't play if you want to enjoy a vs. match'. Oh the days. I'm going to have to buy VF5 on my 360 with the Hori arcade stick, master that...and kick as$ online. Either that or go back in the arcades and beat some poor saps.
