hi, does Akinfeev appear early in the game, or is he scouted? can't find him in the player list..what's his starting stats and age?

I couldn't find him either.

Ustari stops growing year 3 at 88 but Cassio from PSV will grow to 91 in year 6 and besides this Akinfeev fellow I hear about is the best young keeper in the game.

finally found akinfeev..but he's only listed in the Russian squad anyone managed to get him?

Actually the best young keeper in the game is Jerry Nelsen (Denmark) who should be available to be scouted from the beginning of manager mode and starts out at 96 and reaches at least 98. Ian Livesey (England) is not far behind (starts at 95, peaks at 96 by default, but may even end up being slightly better depending on their relative potential boosts) but doesn't become available until season five or so. If you prefer someone that develops from a lower level then look out for Felipe (Brazil) who starts out with an overall of 74 in the first season but should grow to at least 88/89.

That Jerry Nelson fellow sounds unbelievable. I'm gonna start looking for him. Never found Bedsente Dominicus CDM in Italy, but anyway......

Igor Akinfeev plays for CSKA Moscow in real life. I thought they were in the game, but they aren't. Does anyone know how to get him?

what does the team growth thingy do in manager mode. is it good to have it on? just wondering if anyone can help me

have anyone found Ian Livesey or Jerry Nelsen? my scout cant find him despite many attempts..

Yeah, I tried for Jerry Nelson with a Level 10 scout a few times and couldn't find him.

I think someone is blowing smoke up our a$ses.

He definitely does exist as I found him in the database.
These should be the best keepers in the game if you're able to scout them

Problem is I have no idea when they are available to be scouted.

Lloris is a good GK, his growth shows 84 as his peak but he's listed as Elite in his growth pattern so I believe he will get even higher.

I don't know if this is the right thread to ask, it has connection to youngs

Anyway, I bought Oscar Ustari from Getafe as a suitable replacement for Canizares(started a career with Valencia )

So Ustari's rating is 87 now, but he's conceding unbelievable goals, low shot goes through his arms while diving, almost can't even catch a simple pass, but sometimes he makes huge saves.His morale is a bit low now, because i'm only in the second season so he didn't have much opportunity to play.

So the main question would be
Can the morale have a big affect to the player's performance?
Or..These blunders are because his morale is a bit low?

errm, sorry to sound like a douche, but how are you reading fifa.dat? CM07 doesn't work on this year's ver...

errm, by looking at the game file to start with via the actual game, go to team management , edit player, the look at supporting attributes. Right down the bottom is growth or something and it lists Elite , Elite early bloomer etc. So by default they're listed for us to look at. I think there's another 'unseen' attribute as well for learning (CM08 will probably give us access) but in the mean time we can look at our leisure via the main fifa08 game.

DB Master 08. It's good for viewing the player database but I am wary of changing anything.

I'm still trying to figure out how the good/normal/elite/quick growth type and potential relate. For example Benzema has a potential of 89 and a growth style of normal yet he can grow to an overall of 96 and Cassio has a potential of 84 but is elite and grows to 91.

Bojan on the other hand is normal but with a potential of 92 and only grows to 90.

That is why I'm currently trying (and failing) to modify the scout so he can see player growth over more than 6 years as the younger players <18 grow over 7-9 years.
