Inspired by the holiday season and a few other discussions in one of the threads, I'm curious about the types of beer/wine/spirits everyone here drinks. Also, if you have any recommended or just cheap local brews post them here too.

Best Local: Summit Pale Ale
Cheap Local: Premium Grain Belt

Right now Goose Island's Christmas Ale (Chicago, IL) and Sierra Nevada's Celebration Ale (Chico, CA) are so tasty. Been drinking a lot of them...

Of course, my getting trashed beer the past two years or so has been either Pabst Blue Ribbon, Miller High Life or Miller Lite.

Canadian or Moosehead, whichever's cheaper at the time. if I'm feeling really cheap, I usually grab a case of Lakeport Honey. 24 for 24, and it actually tastes really good. also, James Ready 5.5 was introduced to me during the summer, loved it. 5.5%, 24 for 24, tastes good. I know, I'm namely purely Canadian beers. not biased, everything else just sucks (H)

Cheap beers for parties and what not it used to be Coors Light for me but now I've switched to Budweiser Select. It has a nice taste even if I just want to sip on it. I never see people drinking that stuff but I recommend trying it, same price as Coors/Miller/Bud but much better taste (for me anyway).

If I just wanna sit back and kick it I go with Amstel Light.

I would never buy Natty, I hate the fact people buy that ****... for $2-3 more on a 24-pack you can get Bud/Miller/Coors so why drink piss?

Really boring, but i'm pretty much a Guinness/Carling man.

Like a good white wine though, anything over £6 i class as being good though. (H)

I haven't tried much beer, frankly I think they all taste awful. I guess it's an acquired taste. Anyway, the only ones I can stomach are Corona; but these smell like ass. Seriously. Also Rolling Rock, but this tastes more like mineral water than beer.

The rest of the beers I've tried just taste really ****ty, and unless there's no other drinks, I tend to avoid them.

Because there's like a $15 difference if you buy it by the keg. That's 3(!!!!!) extra cups you have to sell to break even or make your profit! Oh, and because we're poor. I won't go lower than Fleishmann's vodka (don't know if you guys have it where you live), which is about $14 for a 1.75L jug, because I once bought the 1.75L jug of Bartons vodka for $9 and it was undrinkable.

I'm really feeling Guiness right now for some reason and I'm also ordering a lot of Black and Blue's.

Totally agree with you on the Bud Select Kader, but I just haven't started to actually order it yet instead of Miller Lite. Maybe soon I will.

Natty from a keg is a different story though, don't mind it at all. Any beer from a keg tastes better than cans (especially) or bottles.

That's funny cause out of the big 3 (Coors/Miller/Bud lites) Miller Lite is definitely my least favorite one.

This is simple. I pretty much start off every party with a 6 pack of this delicious American lager:

I usually follow it up with the best party beer there is:

Even now, in the trunk of my car, there are three cases of Busch Light waiting to be devoured in a couple of days when I'm headed for the mountains.

Liquor-wise, I have to say there's nothing I prefer more than a good 20 oz. glass filled half with Cap'n and half with Coke, with a couple of ice cubes, f*cking delicious. I drink two of those and then I don't care what liquor I'm having from that point because I have that sweet Cap'n leftover taste in my mouth.

I don't usually go cheaper than Aristocrat for vodka, that s*it is horrible enough as it is I don't want to know what cheaper s*it tastes like.

I don't drink Gin or Whisky often enough to have preferences, I'm usually gone by the time I have those sort of drinks in my face and as you all know taste isn't really a factor at that point.

One thing that I know most you haven't and sadly will probably never have is this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palinca. Every time we have relatives visiting from Romania or we go over there visiting, we sneak a few bottles of it in the US (H)(Y)

My favourite cheap beer without a doubt has gotta be Genny! I drank it in high school when I was broke and I still drink it regularly today.. doesn't actually taste bad at all IMO and it's guarenteed to give a pretty nice hangover, just enough to let you know you partied hard last night.

I dont drink beer.

My favourite martini is Tanguerray gin and Martini brand bianco vermouth, but as Tanguerray is expensive I more commonly use Gordons.

My favourite bourbon is Canadian Club and my favourite mainstream scotch is Chivas Regal. My favourite speciality scotch is W'holly Smoke. For Manhatten's, however, I prefer to use Kentucky Four Roses bourbon and Martini brand rosso vermouth. And Angustura bitters of course.

My favourite port is Dow's 1975, though I am warming to a Warre's 63 we just cracked open.

My favourite wines are too numerous to name, but in terms of type I am very partial to Cabarnet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir. When it comes to white my favourite is Chablis (premier cru) by a long way. I am however partial to almost all types of wine, the exception being Rioja.

My favourite sweet wine is Sautennes, and I also love Calvados and Grappa. My favourite vodka is just plain good old fashioned Smirnoff. My favourite Tequilla is Don Fernando. My favourite rum is Captain Morgan.

My favourite morning drink is Pimms Lemonade. I am of the opinion that one shouldn't drink wine before noon or spirits before 14:00.

Western New York!

Yeah, like I said, anytime we visit the family back in Buffalo it's Genny, Molson or Labatt to drink. I'm impartial to the last two, but I thought Genny was pretty good for being so cheap.

I love Buffalo.. it's such a dreary butt-ugly town, but I've always had fond memories from there.

One of these days I'm gonna have to make a pilgrimage to the Genesee Brewing Company in Rochester to pick up some cases and some merch of this highly under-appreiciated beer.

Although.. I live 5 minutes away from the local university here and on fridays it's impossible to buy this stuff at the local liqour store because the students buy it all up for weekend partying! It's funny because the only guarenteed empty shelves are always Genesee and Pabst Blue Ribbon (which is actually garbage IMO, but it's dirt cheap too).

I bought a 12-pack of Michelob Light (and one of those 5 liter Heineken kegs) for last night but we had so much liquor and beer I didn't even have to open it... I'm sippin on it right now and it's very nice, smooth tasting.

And the bottles are cool...

I also had Guinness Draught for the first time the other night and will definitely buy it sometime, great taste.

The commercials focus on a "rocket widget" that rattles when drinkers shake the bottle. The 2 1/2-inch long plastic, rocket-shaped device floats inside the bottle and is "activated" when the bottle is opened. Each time the bottle tips, a mixture of gases is released, creating the same creamy head Guinness drinkers expect when ordering the beer on tap.

We had a Heinie mini-keg race a few weekends ago. Something was wrong with all of our kegs or something, they were all barely carbonated and had chunky almost like sea foam.
