Playing in Widescreen

I just bought a widescreen monitor. It looks awesome when using the net or apps, but Fifa looks stretched and fuzzy, I tried changing setting in the game but I can't get it to look right. Can anyone help? (:/)Much appreciated.

hmm...I just got one as well and mine's completely fine...I just chose the highest resolution, clicked save settings or whatever and it's fine.

create a text document in the main fifa08 directory named common.ini



make these lines and then save :


[]
RENDER_QUALITY=2

RESOLUTION=1920x1200x32 (or whatever resolution your monitor can best use natively)

WINDOWED=0

RENDER_RATE_MODE=2

Thanks for the response guys, Tremiki99 your idea worked in the game! But the menu and selection screens were still stretched and team pop ups at the bottom are in the middle of the field...



any way of fixing the rest of it?

Whenever i first fixed the resolution, I had the same problem, I found a solution to it but I can't remember what it was. I will ty to remember and post it here.

Add WIDESCREEN = 1 to your locale.ini file (if you haven't it, create it).

RENDER_QUALITY=2

RESOLUTION=1680x1050x32

WINDOWED=0

Widescreen=1

RENDER_RATE_MODE=2

But the problem with the player status bars appearing in the middle of the screen remains, shown below...



plus the intro movie and menu screens still appear stretched. I've been on afew websites and some people say that Fifa supports wdiescreen, some say it doesn't. It's a drag becuase I've got this great monitor, but the main game I play on it doesn't look right!

Sorry I don't know then, theorically the widescreen=1 should enable you to select widescreen resolutions within the game in the options section.

I am sooooo embarrased, The one thing I didn't do is, in the options to change the resolution in the game, I left it at 1024X768. So even though in the ini file, I indicated my monitor's native resolution, the settings in the game (which I thought were the highest) were at a lower resolution. After changing the resolution in the game to my monitor's highest setting the game looks fine! BUT now I realize I need a better graphics card, lol

This doesnt work for me, why on earth they dont have the resolution options in the game i do not know.

Is there any other way of getting 1280 x 768?

You can change the resolution settings in the game under My Fifa08 and then Game Settings. When I go there I get the possibility of choosing...

640X480
800X600
1024X768
1280X1024
1680X1050

I think the choices you see depend on what your monitor can supprt.

Also, try adding the line...

widescreen=1

into your locale.ini
