Who watches it? I'm talking about WWE Raw, Smackdown and ECW. I'm not an avid fan, but I've been getting into it since playing Smackdown vs. Raw at my mate's. Unfortunately, I've only been able to watch youtube vids of fights and Raw some Satrudays since they don't broadcast a lot of it here, and it's always a few weeks late, as well. For example, today I watched Orton fight Michaels, Jericho fight Umaga, and Jeff Hardy fight Snitsky, even though this happened before Armageddon, which was a while ago.

Anyway, who's your favorite wrestler? Rivalry? Brand? Event? Etc.

I'll watch it once in a while hoping that they'll make some reference to wrestling in the 90s. the 15th Anniversary of RAW was great because so many people came back, loved it. other than that, though, don't watch it too often nowadays. maybe once or twice a month.

I like TNA more than WWE though TNA is starting to piss me off.

My favorite wrestlers are Ric Flair, Edge the Hardys, and Samoa Joe.

TNA Bound for Glory usually has a solid card.

TNA is absolutely horrible story-wise. wrestling-wise I'll give them some credit, SOME. but to be honest, I cant watch a 60-year old Sting and Kevin Nash trying to keep making a career for themselves :(

Is entertainement the same thing as Sport?

I don't see Wrestling as a sport.

I watched it a lot when I was 15/16, but then I eventually lost interest along the time. The storylines were starting to get really bad. And all those Eddie Guerreros and Chris Benoits sh*ts...and my fav wrestler was Benoit.

After that, never saw a thing.

Sting is still a strong wrestler and Nash is funny as hell. Nash, at his own admission, isn't a top draw anymore, but the stuff he writes is great.

Johnny, I don't consider it a sport either, but this was the best place to put it.

Never watched TNA, haven't had the chance, so WWE is all I know, really.

And to answer my own question, my favorite wrestler would be Randy Orton. Yeah, I know, he cheats and he's ruthless, but that's what makes him such an appealing heel, besides, he's held his own and beat several of the best around and he's an all-around great wrestler.

And Steaua, stop post-boosting your moronic attention-seeking posts, please. Most of the people here don't watch wrestling, and they don't all post about it. If you don't have anything good to say, it might be best to simply stay quiet.

I remember those days when I watched wrestling very often. It was when I was something around 10. I had even a TV channel where wrestling was a dominating "sport" there. My favourtites were Hulk Hogan and a guy who looked like a lost brother of someone from the Kiss band.

I'm almost ashamed to say I watched wrestling. I used to watch it on Saturday morning for WCW, with Rey Mysterio, Konnan and Kidman.

ECW with Tazz, New Carlos and Rhyno. And pretty much any match with Sabu, that bastard was ******* crazy.

I also watched WWF; I think they lost it when they were forced to change to WWE. But I watched when there was the big The Rock vs. Stone Cold rivalry. The Rock was by far my favorite wrestler.

I lost interest when WCW and ECW went down under, I still would watch it from time to time, but it became terribly predictable.

By the way, I watched the 15 year anniversary of Raw. It was actually pretty cool, because they brought a lot of the old wrestlers back. Only problems is they didn't bring back The Rock... Unless I missed it.

If you don't watch wrestling for the sport aspect it's easily the funniest programming on TV. 90% of fans are smarks anyway.

I watch(ed) them all (except ECW)...usually the first and last 15 minutes of RAW. When WCW was around, ditto for Nitro. I'll watch the first 10 or so minutes of TNA Impact (started watching TNA around a year ago) and then watch the last 15 odd minutes....the action happens faster as it's a shorter program. I used to be an avid WWF fan but as the years have gone by, I've lost some interest. Though, as I said, I still watch....but it's more on an occassional basis. Favourite wrestler was the Ultimate Warrior and, for the brief while, The Excellence of Execution Bret "The Hitman" Hart, although I probably watched 3 (or fewer) of their matches combined. Right now, my attitude is "don;t really care......just entertain me...that's your job."

Well, I used to watch it quite a lot, as a form of entertainment, but I kinda got bored of it, so I don't watch full shows anymore. Just from time to time, I access youtube and watch some videos from recent shows. My favourite wrestlers were Triple H, Brian Kendrick & Paul London.

Oh, and Ron Simmons. (H)

Wrestling is a sport in the sense that there is a competitive aspect and an athletic aspect. However, the competition is not between the athletes.

It's between promotions. WWE vs. TNA, with the fan's money on the line.

You can't watch a significant amount of professional wrestling and not concede that some of the greatest athletes in the world are professional wrestlers.

I watch quite a bit of wrestling, but I'm starting to drift away. Not due to the product (which, admittedly, is a shadow of what it was just 4 years ago), I acknowledge that the industry is going to have down swings and upswings, and one must keep watching if he hopes to see the next upswing. 1990-1995 was a bit of a down period too, but for those who stuck with it from the Hulk Hogan era to The Rock era were saw an amazing resurgence.

No, I'm drifting away because the industry has embraced "Sports-Entertainment" over "Professional Wrestling".

Professional Wrestling is taking all the over-the-top, larger-than-life personalities we've seen in sports over the years; Muhammed Ali, Mike Tyson, Terrell Owens, their like, and putting them all in the same sport, at the same time. It's an opportunity to see these larger-than-life figures compete on the same stage. Most of the great personalities in professional wrestling... Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, The Rock, Ric Flair, Kurt Angle... are essentially aspects of the worker's real personality with the volume turned way up. The show is about the characters, in the ring and backstage.

Sports-Entertainment takes the focus off the characters, and puts it on the story. Personality takes a backseat to plot. It's no longer a battle between two great personalities, now there's an outside goal, a secondary purpose to each match. Management figures (Vince McMahon) become central characters. We get into the love lives, health problems, and other things that, quite honestly, we don't care about in real professional athletes careers. So why would we care about them in this fantasy sport?

Wrestling is supposed to focus on the most interesting sideline stuff from other sports AND make the in-ring product entertaining. Sports-entertainment just makes it another television show.

Agree 100% The in ring action needs to be the focus again - and TNA's action is superior to WWE's at the moment. I also agree that the old guys should move aside and let the young talent shine.
