I really don't want Podolski. This guy is as thick as two short planks.
He also really didn't make much of an impact at Bayern this season.
I find him quite overrated.
I'd love to see Berbatov come.
My wish would be Arshavin(what a player!). Though we can't get him probably.

Just hope that Fergie doesn't buy you another Djemba-Djemba or Kleberson or another half dozen names that failed miserably. He has a bad habit of buying sh!t players as well as good ones. Jose was also very good at that I might add. Buying sh!t players that is.(Before you flame me:rofl:)

Certainly a good way to start a team thread! Good on ya, Dipanjan! (Y)
As I said it is my duty as a loyal Manchester United supporter. It's sheer luck that has ensured a good start to this thread. I just hope that this luck carries forward to the field and we have a better start. Much better than last year. Cheers!

Barcelona have made an approach for Arshavin. And he looks set to join his most favourite club.

What do you guys think about the schedule. I think it is both good and bad. To face the other part of Top 4, away, so early has it's advantages and disadvantages. If we have some bad results, we might be able to come back better in the second half of the season, by playing well against comparatively weaker teams. On the other hand a few bad results against Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal might deteriorate our confidence and it might just be downhill from there on in. There are two sides to it.:biggrinx:

I look at things like this. It's better to do the hard part first, that way you can use the knowlegde learned from that situation to creat a better result. With that said, facing the Scousers early can serve as a Better warm-up to Chelsea than facing Stoke City.

yes, I forgot about that situation. It is very unfair for us.

Hope we do some good protests against this.

I'm sure there games else where for other teams that are going to be tight a stressful at different parts of the season so I guess it evens out. Lets take solace in the fact it didn't phase us last season.

You sure, MUTV said he's on holiday till next week. Maybe he's come back early - he is a workaholic you know :)

The bloody phoneline is still engaged and the ticket site is down - I want to get the Ole match tickets! Might go to the Juve game instead - at least I'll get to see the boys even if I don't get to say thanks to Ole in person.

Getting psyched up for the season again. BTW I was at Niketown London this afternoon and I asked them about United's upcoming kits. In addition to the white one, there is a royal blue kit coming in September. (Y) Shame to see the black one go though - it was class.

UEFA president Michel Platini has warned that the governing body are going to 'fight very seriously' to restrict entry into the Champions League and UEFA Cup by clubs that are in debt.

Platini again expressed his concern at the amount of rising debt even the top clubs are getting into.

The two-time World Player of the year claimed that in future UEFA would come down hard on clubs that owed hefty sums - a decision that could have seen European champions Manchester United and final opponents Chelsea banned from the Champions League last season.

Platini spoke about the issue earlier this month and said 'it is the ones who cheat who win'.

And he added today: 'UEFA are going to fight very seriously to restrict entry to its competitions from clubs that are in debt.

'I'm not only talking about English teams such as Chelsea or Manchester United, who reached the Champions League final with a huge debt, I'm talking in general.

'It's a problem that grabs my heart. Four or five years from now we have to have sorted the situation out, with co-operation from clubs and national associations.'

Platini today also slammed his organisation's decision to allow Porto back into the Champions League.

Porto, who won the competition in 2004 under Jose Mourinho, were banned from next season's tournament after they were found guilty of trying to bribe domestic referees during the 2003/04 campaign.

However, the Portuguese champions' ban from the competition was later overturned by UEFA's appeals body pending a new hearing, something which Platini believed should never have happened.

'As UEFA president I'm not happy at all with their inclusion in the Champions League,' he said. 'And I clearly state that.

'UEFA, under my mandate, will fight to the death against corruption.

'It might be their right, but I don't think that it is the spirit.

'If a team has been punished by their federation, who are under UEFA, for corruption then they should not be able to compete in a European competition.'

Platini & Blatter should start the talking crap club. 'it is the ones who cheat who win'. - and yet they let AC Milan in when there done for match fixing :blah:

Louis Saha is determined to stay and fight for his place after another injury-disrupted campaign at United.

The striker made just 24 appearances last term and was forced to withdraw from the Reds’ Champions League final squad at the 11th hour with a calf problem.

It was another frustrating end to the season for the Frenchman, who has suffered a series of injury setbacks since arriving from Fulham in January 2004.

Reports have linked Saha with a summer move away from Old Trafford, but the 29-year-old insists that proving his fitness to Sir Alex Ferguson is his sole priority.

"I am under contract at Manchester until 2010," he told France Football. "Furthermore, the coach has not said anything to me yet, either about a transfer or a loan.

"I don't hide anything. I will say it again: I have to play before thinking about anything else. I will predict nothing before knowing what will happen for me.

"I am a football player and I have not been able to play. Today, only the pitch matters to me.

"I have worked all summer long. There are facilities close to my home so I have worked with a specific programme. I know what I want – to be fit for the start of the season.

Cant help but feel for the guy. He's deadly when on form. Would love it if he had a injury free season. Good luck to him. Wonder why he gets injured so often, its not normal. Maybe straining his body to get fit?

Anyway I hope he come's back next season without injury he's just what were missing, 4th season lucky.
