hmmm, I like Natalie Coughlin more :)

I love watching Coughlin just before a race. She's an absolute mess...the embodiment of nervousness. It's as though she's gonna puke or break down and cry at any moment.

Different stokes gentlemen. My favorite is the underage cutie Shawn Johnson, but Liukin and Sacramone are also quite attractive, as is that other blonde, but the first three are the visible stars.

yeah, shawn's got a bit of a rodent face going on, but you really can't go wrong with any of em. Alicia comes off as being a very cocky, bubbly and feisty sort of person in her interviews....I dig that.

did China even have a swimming program that had qualifiers for any of the events 8yrs ago? The development that they've made in this area, especially their females, is as remarkable as what Phelps is doing atm imo.

The last two broads that swam for their 4x 100 relay are very promising...Pang could've taken the 100 free if it werent for that unfortunate DQ.

I expect their wiminz to be giving a good fight to the Aussies and America in '12.

Usain Bolt's run in the 100m final was just insane, set a world record even by slowing down at the end to celebrate.

do you guys give more recognition to the overall medal accumulation or to the total haul of just the Gold medals?

There should be a point system.

3=gold
2=silver
1=bronze

btw, sweet sig, Byebeauty

Bolt started celebrating before finishing the race and still broke the WR ..insane!

one of the most ridiculous athletic feats in recent history. Why couldn't he just maintain his focus and finish off the run properly?

anyway, let's wait for the urine test results.

Sadly van den Hoogenband just wasn't good enough, started out slow made a comeback towards the end but just couldn't squeeze into bronze.

[BSaid before but Alain Bernard's size is scary][/B].

no doubt. I've yet to come across a more muscular swimmer in my life, man. He's got the most broad and densely built shoulders for a swimmer.....his suit can't contain his lat muscles....they ******* spill over.

bybuti, that's how I pronounce your name in my head phonetically...regarding the height of these girls....what are you gonna do? Even the tallest Gymnast is legally a midget....anyway, Asafa was a huge disappointment...I was already prepared for Gay's choke job, but I didn't expect Asafa to put in such a terrible performance.

But but I am pretty sure Bolt isnt American ..:taz:

Asafa Powell is a choker man he never won a world championship or olympic gold. In 2007 world champs he choked big time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cIm2vET5CY

The Jamaican team to the Olympics had been tested 32 times in total prior to the running of the final... compared to ummm... 1 time to a "major world sprinting power" you guys still want more urine tests?

You've been BOLTED!!!

We apologize for keeping the yellow too long
Yellow Card
Usain LIGHTNING Bolt!!!

Why didn't he run through!!!!!! Aw man, I was predicting that he would go for 9.62 if he ran through the finish line. It is really scary how good that guy is! Sure this might be the fastest track on the planet, but he just tore the thingto shreds and ripped everyone else apart for god measure. Man, I just wish he would have run through the line. This is one of those "You'll never forget where you were when....." moments.

Just the range of emotions....Bolt celebrating as though to say "Where's my competition? I'm too good for this." BEFORE the race was completed....Richard Thompson(2nd place with 9.89) celebrating as though he won the gold, lying down on the track and jumping around in joy....Dix(3rd place) almost as though he felt satisfied with the bronze, knowing that he never stood a real chance of anything higher.....and then there's Asafa Powell, a massive dissapointment 4 years ago when, as the favourite, he finished a dissapointing 5th standing beneath the stands just almost with that look of resignation on his face. You could almost tell that he was really tight before the race, while Bolt was surprisingly looooose, almost daring the others around him to see if they could make it interesting. Powell just didn't get off to that good a start and seemed beaten after 40 odd meters.

The Baltimore Bullet - Michael Phelps! He basically won the relay for the US.....

EDIT: My opinion but I think it is easier to win 7 or 8 gold medals in swimming than it is to do so in Track and Field. If you're not the world's best heptatheletes, you've basically got no chance to replicate the pool feat on the track. Not to take anything away from Phelps' accomplishment.....

I'm glad Federer won gold in the Men's Doubles something for him to be happy about after having a bad year so far and losing his No.1 ranking.

Great night to be a Romanian-American. First the Romanian chick wins the gold in the women's marathon and then Phelps gets his 8th gold. What an awesome night.

Phelps is the greatest American sportsman ever. I'll get a ton of flack for saying that, but I believe it.
