How to reduce the lights?

When i'm not playing at night it seems to me that there is too much contrast or light. BTW the game is flashing my poor eyes :$ How to modify the light level ? Is that changable by editing something into config.dat ?

I've heard there is a wondrous machine called ... 'monitor' where you have many funny looking buttons that allow you to reduce brightness and contrast.

I would love some help on this one too. The lighting, when its not a clear day, is terrible at best. Washed out pitches, ala World Cup 06.
