This tournament always makes me laugh. You build a roof, a retractable roof, you show it off to the entire world and everyone is really impressed.

But then you wait until 10th day of the tournament before you use it? Despite the fact that you are facing your worst heat wave in 100 years? The person playing the best tennis will NOT win the tournament this year.....I can't remember the last time I took this tournament seriously.

What a joke!

Yeah I think the heat policy wasn't well applied.

The person playing the best tennis will NOT win year? I think the ones that are playing best tennis are in the semis (besides surprise underdog Verdasco, who is also playing at his full potential).

My bet to win this goes to Dementieva for the ladies and Federer for the men's. But if it goes to Nadal is fair as well, both are playing amazing tennis.

I think that the "fittest" player will win.....he/she will not be the best player in Melbourne.

Azarenka, Djokovic, the French guy who lost to Simon, Kuznetsova(she would have won if the roof was open), the person that Zvonoreva thrashed, etc.,etc. were all better than the player/s they lost to.

Andy Roddick wasn't better than Djokovic. He was fitter.

Well you got a point there on the "fit" thing, especially about Serena. Azarenka would have won if the heat wasn't there to faint her. Suddenly, Serena looks like she's collapsing from the heat, and the roof closes. I think she is being helped.

About Djokovic, he is never fit. He has a very unusual injury proness, I dunno how he hangs himself on the field. And with the heat, it got worse.

I have to disagree with Zvonareva. I saw the match against Bartoli, and she totally thrashed her. I don't remember Zvonareva playing so well, she's my bet for the final. Safina isn't at her best.

Is fitness not a part of tennis?

I seriously need to go to bed. But Williams and Dementieva won't let me. It has been a very entertaining match so far, great tennis!

This match once again bared all the lacks of Andy's technique. At least he fought till the end.:(

Disappointed that Dementieva lost, i thought this was gonna be her chance to shine. :(

Not the womens final i was hoping for. Its most likely Williams to continue her quirky run of winning the Aussie Open in odd years.

Williams is unbreakable in mental. Though she is not the fittest, that compensates well. It was a very enjoyable match to watch. In the important points, Williams (almost) always would take them.

As for Fed Express, nuff' said. Roddick doesn't have a chance against him. 11 out of 12 times he lost to Federer.

Madness! Verdasco lost in the ****test way he could. But what did he do today is just hard to describe. HE'S THE MAN OF THE TOURNAMENT!

Epic, I say. One of the best matches I have ever seen, up there with the AUS 2005 SF Safin vs. Federer.

Verdasco deserved to win. He was really the only player who tried winners, who came to the net, who put Nadal running like I've never seen before. Nadal was playing not to lose, and Verdasco was playing to win. It really makes a difference sometimes.

So...final predictions? I say Federer.

Awesome match, couldn't ask for anything better. Well done to Verdasco he didn't get awed by the occasion and gave it his very best.

Should be a great final come sunday, i anticipate another 5 setter coming along. But the only doubt is how well can Nadal recover from this long match and having a day's less rest than Federer. I'm for Federer to win it and prove his critics wrong.
