It looked like they counted on Spain burning all of their energy after 20 minutes which is kind of what happened. To bunker down for 45 against Spain is kind of crazy. Whatever the strategy was it worked.

The problem with the US was that they always got thrashed or at least beat by the bigger sides. Brazil, Germany, Italy, etc. Finally they've beaten a top team in a competitive game.

Btw Donavan lives in LA....huge Spanish speaking population obviously, he picked it up I guess.

Well, that sucks. I was fully expecting a beat-down by Spain from the DVR and I get home to the news showing the highlights. ******* ****. Oh well, that saved me two hours of my life I guess...

arrogant spanish motherf^^^ers should thank americans for this one... it's well known that all those "super duper favorite teams" just f^ck everything up when they play the World Cup (Argentina and France in 2002?... Brazil in 2006?)... now it's the time that Spain has to think again and make some changes towards 2010.

Costa Rica ranked 1st in the Concacaf standings Bobby? Yep, they're more reliable than FIFA's standings. Lowly Canada should be ranked higher though considering how they can consistently beat Costa Rica.

No, but they're ranked first in the CONCACAF group stage. You know, the rankings that mean something.

jordi alba can replace sergio garcia, what a great player he will be soon.
