Anyone know whether the symbols on this shirt have some goth/cult association? The front is some sort of cross and the back looks like the wings of a bat. I just don't know what they mean.

NAME = Spiker Black shirt

Left = Front, Right = Back

EDIT: Found it....answers: front = Celtic cross, back angel wings.

Looks like something Criss Angel could wear... I like it anyway :innocent_smile_1:

Goth I am not!

Then don't buy that shirt.

Rules are meant to be broken, but here are a few quick rules/guidelines

1) If you ever wear a nice t-shirt, wear a blazer over it.

2) To look good stick with bright colored button downs. White and powder blue count.

3) Instead of investing in t-shirts, go to a good shoe store and have a female salesman hook you up with good kicks. Don't be afraid to say no to her if something is too expensive or not your style, but trust me, women pay a lot more attention to men's shoes than you would think. Spend your money on shoes over t-shirts.

4) Only ever wear jeans. Dark jeans. Tight dark jeans.

5) Always wear a belt and match it to your shoes. If possible match it to your shoes and blazer if you wear one.

6) Pants, blazer, and belt are the best places to buy cheap look alikes rather than fancy designer stuff. You can get relatively cheap Levi's jeans, a super cheap belt, and a blazer at the Men's Warehouse for a lot cheaper than you would think and still look like you're decked out in designer ****.

7) Wear SOMETHING that stands out. I don't care what it is. Put on a fake piercing, wear a gaudy bracelet or necklace, or whatever, but have something that sets you apart from everyone else.

Look, I'm not going to sit here and tell you that I don't have a couple of $40 t-shirts, but they make up a TINY part of my closet. T-shirts are for sports fans and teenagers. Step your wardrobe up, and stop buying expensive **** that doesn't even match your personality. If you had black nail polish, black eyeliner, and a black fauxhawk, then you can wear that shirt. Until then, go a little more classic.

EDIT: Oh, and never be afraid to ask women for fashion advice. I walk up to women and ask them about my outfit ALL THE TIME, asking specific questions about shirt and pants combinations, belts, and shoes. They LOVE to give advice. I realize that this advice is unsolicited, and it's not directed at a single person, but I'm sick of seeing a so called "fashionista" thread covered in pictures of clothes and shoes that won't impress anyone.

EDIT2: I'm not suggesting that you should never break the rules, for example, it's the summer now, which means plaid pants are in (un)fortunately, and they go with all kinds of neon ****. That also means flip flops might be acceptable depending on where you go, and lighter jeans MIGHT be acceptable. And I also don't want to imply that EVERYONE MUST even pay some lip service to these guidelines; I find that the guys with their own style who legitimately just don't give a **** do the best. But if you aren't one of those guys, and I'm sure no one who is reading this on Soccer Gaming is, then stick to the tips. And hey, if you don't care about female attention, then don't listen to anything I say, but don't come on here and post an athletic work out t-shirt in a ******* "fashionista" thread.

EDIT3: Look at the first page of this thread. Aside from Ronnifan's ridiculous Che shirt, what is posted? LaCoste polo, flip flops (in late June), Crocs (which were HUUUUUGE in 2005), and legitimately FASHIONABLE shirts from Voltaic. This thread has lost it's way.

Good post there Shifty. This has mostly become a shoe thread. I often buy new clothes, and see myself as a stylish guy, but I rarely post here, because I just can't bother to take pictures of the clothes and most of them can't be found on the internet.

I don't think there's anything wrong with t-shirts. I wear them all the time, I just try to class them up a bit, perhaps with some cool pattern, or just a plain black t-shirt, which is one of my favorites, because the material feels so good, it fits on me well, and the slight v-neck makes it look so much better. (H) Mostly when I go out for a night of partying, I put on a nice button down shirt, all from Dressmann. I'm really lightbuilt, but they got great clothes even for my size. I use the slim fit shirts, size S. I've got one in turquoise, one in black, one in purple and one in white, with very small squares in it. I've even got a lot of crap for using them, I guess it's not the typical style for 18-year-olds.

And as you brought up the women, I've heard somewhere that the first things women notice on a man's style is his shoes and his watch. I've got those both covered with my Citizen Titanium watch and with different kinds of shoes - those new Lacostes, my black canvas summer shoes and black leather pointy dress shoes. Close to these ones:

About the jean thing. I favor tight jeans also, but they don't suit everyone. If you really mean tight ones. And they can be light coloured too. Perhaps not light blue, but I've got grey ones (once again from Dressmann) and I think they're pretty cool.

A belt is a must have obviously too, but I don't match it to my shoes. I've got a light brown one which I use on a day to day basis, but I guess if I went out and put on the dress shoes, I'd switch it for my black leather belt.

With long sleeved shirts, anything goes. A hoody, a sweatshirt or knitted shirts are all good, at least certain ones.

Then there are things like vests and different kinds of hats, but they only suit certain kinds of people.

As a rule of thumb, take the tips, but only wear clother your comfortable with and confident in. It doesn't matter how stylish you dress, if you don't "wear" the clothes, it's not going to look good.

What are your thought on scarfs by the way? And what kind of Carlos*ets do you use?
I've got a fake leather Carlos*et for spring, summer, fall and a dress type Carlos*et for winter. Like these:

I'm going to need an overcoat like that pretty soon for when I'm a real lawyer, but I'm thinking about just moving somewhere it's always warm instead.

As for the dress shoes, I always think it's hard to get the feel for a shoe in a picture. I have a pair of Steve Madden shoes that look a lot like the shoes you posted, and I do wear them with a suit (because I don't have anything else mostly), but they can also work in a more casual look with jeans and a sport shirt.

I'm intrigued by scarves, but have never worn one; not really sure why. Some of them can be pretty expensive. Last winter I saw two items everywhere... argyle sweaters and Burberry scarves. I can't imagine why people pay like $300 for the Burberry pattern on a scarf, but they are ridiculously popular.

Slim fit everything is probably the most accepted "stylish" look right now, although the slob look seems to be coming back too. I don't know what it is, but even if you don't have the greatest body, clothes that fit tightly seem to get the most female attention. My theory is that it makes you look more confident, and the clothes are much more likely to be expensive if they fit you so well; rich people tailor their clothes to their bodies, so a poor man trick to get the same effect is to squeeze into tighter clothes.

This summer I've basically been walking around like this:

I think plaid shorts are stupid, but they are ridiculously cheap for something that is so popular. You can get a pair for $10 at Kohl's and they might as well be from Prada (or whoever the **** makes them, because I guarantee Becks isn't wearing generic anything). They're also really versatile, you can pull off just a white-t with them, but you can also throw on a polo. I really wish I hadn't shrunk my ******* Lacoste baby blue polo shirt because it would have been perfect. Now it's sitting in my closet waiting for me to meet a 5'3'' guy to give it to because it's so damn short.

Oh yeah, and the watch. I found that I got a little more attention with a decent watch, but I just don't like them on my wrist. Never have. And it never struck me as a big thing, although if I was in a bigger city that might be different.

You should definitely try scarfs then. In my opinion, it's always a good look, you can even pull it off with a t-shirt, with some scarfs. For winter I have some basic knitted scarf to warm my neck (the Carlos*et I posted leaves your neck totally bare), but it's also for style. For warmer times I got this colourful scarf from JC. Cost me about 15€.

And no, I don't usually wear it like that. (H)

EDIT: That's one great t-shirt too. Purple is a great colour, goes well with black, so you can class it up if you want to. It's a picture of Muhammed Ali with the text: "Ali says Pow! to the people."

Oh, and I wanted to ask you guys' opinion on one thing:
-When you put on a button down shirt with perhaps some nice jeans and dress shoes, tucked or untucked?

ShiftyPowers

Make America Great Again
Untucked always. The only time it's acceptable to tuck any shirt is if you're at work or some other place with a dress code. Jeans are by definition casual. Never, ever, ever tuck into jeans.

Disagree with it being a general rule.

You can dress up nice jeans with dress shoes and it's a step up from casual. Get a classy belt (MUST MATCH WITH THE SHOES - very jarring to women if you get this wrong), tuck your shirt in and you're doing yourself a massive favour, at higher-end bars/clubs at least.

Out more casually, during the day or whatever, then untucked is fine though.

I think you would look like a complete fool with a tucked in shirt and an outfit like that. If you want to look 15 years older, it might be a good strategy. Possibly a difference in cultures, but I would doubt that.

Depends on the shirt, I guess. And whatever else you've got on. Often, IMO, you just look messy and cheap if you're untucked. I don't think there's necessarily a single rule, though.

I don't think I've ever spent more than 10 bucks on a pair of jeans.. I just buy a bunch of used ones from the thrift shop and like wear them forever. Ever since I got heavily into cycling a couple years ago, I don't think i've bought any regular clothes, still walking around in ratty jeans and t-shirts.. all my cash goes towards cycling gear these days, jerseys, sunglasses, and such..

Just the other day I was going for a spin session and I put on a pair of lycra shorts and noticed myself in the mirror and I was like holy f*ck, with shaved legs and these shorts, I look pretty feminine from the waist down. Been taking vitamins and supplements and sh!t, hope they aren't slippin me bad hormones or some sh!t in there..

I got a lot of problems, man

I haven't bought anything for myself since probably the summer, except these:

Mizuno Precision 7s, got them dirt cheap since I needed a new pair of running shoes (running in indoor soccer shoes/Reebok DMXs from grade 11 gym weren't doing it for me anymore). I need to go buy myself some nice clothes, though. Forrealz.

I haven't really bought anything all year. I just have stuff that my now ex bought me. It's pretty good stuff, though.

I joined a basketball league which starts Sunday, so I'll have to buy myself some kicks so I can run my out-of-shape ass around the court in style. (H)
