Why is it off-topic? He was discussing the nature of the final(which involved Inter and Roma), and I wanted to point out that its not only Italian teams, and used Barca as a reference.
fair enough, but the response to that will be in defence of Barça ... just wanted to avoid this becoming something [even temporarily] like the Real Madrid thread ...

I was talking about the final INTER - ROMA.

If you saw it, then you know what I was talking about.

Regarding Barça, come and talk in Barça thread. I'll be than happy to reply to you. ;)

Yes I did see it, and like I said, it can happen in any country, and any club.

Thx for the offer, but leave me out of that freakshow. jk :P

4-3 win today, but the scoreline hardly tells the story ... it was an absolute siege on the Chievo goal for most of the match, right from kick-off ... it was Sorrentino and the woodwork that kept the score from reaching double digits ... and that is not even considering the boat-load of shots that whizzed inches wide ...

that Chievo scored 3 was not really down to them: bad luck on an own goal for the first one, sheer luck from a hit-and-hope long-range strike for the second, and generosity in becoming lax from Inter for Chievo's third after hearing that Roma were behind in their match ...

and on that note, the biggest cheer of the night greeted the news that Inter were on their way to lifting the league trophy, once Cagliari had scored at the Olimpico after almost 75 minutes ... but Roma clawed their way back, thanks to disgraced talisman Francesco Totti ... to be fair to Roma, from what I saw from the highlights, they didn't have as many chances as Inter had, but still saw quite a few chances saved by the keeper or the woodwork ... having said that, the winner came from a penalty, which was a fairly charitable decision, seeing as the ball was struck hard at the defender, and it hit him in the armpit area as far as I could see ...

anyway, it doesn't matter ... Inter have destiny in their own hands ... a win against already-relegated Siena -- who have Romanista Gianluca Curci (a keeper I rate) in goal -- will clinch the title, regardless of what Roma does ... and incidentally, Roma have to play Chievo in Verona on that final matchday, and that might not be the easiest place to get 3 points from ...

oh, and on another note (seeing as there is no Serie A thread), Samp drew 1-1 with Palermo in Sicily ... while that unfortunately means that Samp cannot finish 3rd (despite Milan losing again today), it does mean that the Doriani are firm favourites for the final Champions League spot ... it won't be easy though, because they host a strong Napoli side, while Palermo face Atalanta (who were relegated today) away ... but if Samp are to compete in Europe, they will need to be able to beat such opposition at home -- and a win will do just fine!

Congratulations.

I thought that was really a nice touch to have the kids wearing all the Serie A teams' shirts in the guard of honour too.

5 scudetto in a row ! (H) !

Forza JM !! :)
and "zeru tituli" for everyone else once again ... forza JM indeed (H)

but he's made abundantly clear that it is calcio, not Inter, that has made him decide to leave at the end of the season (even though he officially hasn't said he's leaving yet) ... I really hope he departs leaving behind an unprecedented achievement ... can't wait for the weekend!
