Wow, replays of that disallowed goal doesn't support the ref's case one bit. Unsurprisingly.

He was standing in the perfect place too, had a great view of all the American players running towards goal with Slovenian defenders grabbing all over them, yet it was a foul by a US player apparently.

Bottled it.

Well, both my teams had their day ruined by the ref. Gutted, but still thrilled we fought back. I think the 4-3-3/4-5-1 probably has to be our default from now on.

1) Why the improvement of the quality of the games needs to go along with an increase in referee stupidity? :nape:

2) Despite a few players having a bad/unlucky day it impressed me how well Germany managed to play from Klose's sending off up to the missed PK. Hopefully they will defeat Ghana and qualify without major trouble.

3) Now Algeria must scrape a draw to make things even more interesting :innocent_smile_1: Of course Algeria had an awful first match, but Slovenia didn't look that much better that day...

What. The ****. Was that?

(Talking about the disallowed goal this time.)

Still, I can breathe a sigh of relief as a US fan. We didn't deserve to win the game. We were not very good. Brief moments of great play in a sea of painful mediocrity.

Donovan on the 3rd goal: "I'm not sure what the call was he wouldn't tell us what the call was."

Wouldn't even tell them "it was a foul"???? Anyone know how big organized crime is in Mali? Maybe this guy has gambling debts.

Nah, I'm in Connecticut right now. Are they showing the games on a big screen on the quad or something? Or at the Union proper?

Great comeback aside, I don't know what (Bob) Bradley is thinking. Tactically speaking, we're playing like France, and we don't even have a third of their talent (and it's not exactly working out for France either). People keep saying the US is "organized" and plays well as a team. That hasn't really been true since the Bruce Arena days. We're plucky, stubborn and opportunistic. But we're poor as a team. Slovenia is organized. Slovenia play well as a team. We just wait for moments of brilliance from Altidore/Donovan/Dempsey. That's not strategy.

Very true. I know that it got us the equalizer, but I can't ******* stand Tim Howard's long balls for much longer.
