Fifa 12 update? specific infos?

I have not installed any kind of Fifa 12 so far but demo, this will happen next week, but I would appreciate an accurate information about:

I have been told that when installing the game then comes a big (3gb) update. Does anyone know exactly what does it update? rosters, graphics, settings or what? will the dvds in stores have this update or we shall have to connect to get it?

I think it will be like Pes.we would have to download it through the internet

Can anyone update this news. Even Rinaldo , in his site has written that the update is not over even after 14 hours. Any alternate option for this? Do everyone need to download this?

they are using digital versions from origin through preorder status.

its prolly just like dead island on steam this year, the game company sent out & unfinished game which steam users had to on the day of release download the exe & also the rest of the final files.

i hit cancel on the 3 gig update and just played the game

ian jarvis has just confirmed that the 3.3 GB file on the bs origin is not the update patch "actually he seems to be unaware of what 's this file " he said that the 42 mb file is the update patch

The large ~3GB download is not the patch. This is most likely related to language packs. Chatting with Origin folks right now about this.

The 42mb file is the executable when its compressed. Also looking at why people are being asked to download this continually.

I'd encourage folks to keep posting responses to my original questions on this post if possible so that we can verify 100%.

i'm having troubles with this ****ty origin i spent all the day downloading these big files "3 GB size"
and even the small 42 mb file which is supposed to be the actual official update patch for the game , i enter infinite loops of download / install / then download again and so on

guys any one of you that don't have troubles updating the game with origin may provide us with the update patch executable so that we can install it manually into the game

btw yesterday ian jarvis didn't bother to even tell us the actual update file as he could save us "me at least" from downloading 3 GB of useless files especially when having a very slow internet connection like here , typical EA , very disappointing indeed

Guys, I got the game today, and damn it its installing an update(3G... Any way to cancel it and play the game....?? Its too annoying due to poor internet connection speed..

42MB file is not an update, its an Origin bug. It's the same .exe that you get in a fresh install... when you run fifa.exe for the first time it goes through a 'release day check', afterwards it removes that part of the code from the .exe. Origin sees the smaller file size and thinks you have a older and/or bad fifa.exe and resends the same stupid file.

The 3GB update is additional language commentary. You can cancel and play the game no prob. There is no real update available on the PC really... unless you count the preload downloads you could get from preorders which needed to be updated to release.

@all with installation problem-
here's what u need to do:
1) install origin from the disc.
2) create an origin acount or log into your existing account (if u already hav 1) u will see that the serial code will b asked. put the serial code of fifa 12 on ur box. the game will be activated. origin will install the game from ur disc.
3) click on the fifa 12 shortcut icon on ur desktop after the game is installed. there will be a release date check and u will see that a 3.1 gb update starts.
4) immediately cancel the update.
5) uninstall origin.
6) download and install the latest version of origin from here: http://www.origin.com/us/about
7) click on fifa 12 icon again. origin pops up.log into origin ( u can log into it even wen u r offline so dnt worry about having an internet connection all the time u play fifa 12)
8) play the game.

I don't believe it is a new roster file. Nothing has changed as far as I can see (Gyan is still at Sunderland, Coquelin not at Arsenal, Odonkor not at Aachen).

According to EA Canada the 2.4/3.0 gb update is a bug as well. There are currently no released updates at all. It's just redownloading the same you already have installed. There are no released roster updates either.

i was planning to buy the game but was kinda pissed off when i heard about this 3gb update ...you sure the game works fine without the update? like, no hangs or anything? it would make my day if the update isnt really needed...thanks

i heard it was something to do with language commentary packs...does that include normal english commentary? cause if it doesnt affect the running of the game much i might avoid downloading 3gb for nothing....my connection is 256 kbps AND has a 5gb monthly limit :/ downloading 3gb would be a pain.

They are now saying the 2.4 or 3gb patch is actually an update, but that only a very small one... it is 3gb because Origin is a ****ty program that doesn't know how to update a few changes without downloading entire files again.
